Thank you for your info. We are moving to live on a boat/marina. During all this transition I am excited to start working with VIP kids. You mentioned you were waking up a little early. What time can you schedule all your classes? I will be using your referral link to sign up. I have loved all your videos. Thank you for the tips and info. (We are a family of 5 selling everything to live on a boat and I just love this flexibility) If you have any other tips or info please let me know. [email protected]

Love your video. I just signed my contract the other day and can't wait to start teaching. I was an ESL teacher for 26 years and a Spanish teacher for 7. I am retired and I really excited about how I can help these children learn English and also make money at the same time to pay the bills. I really love the way you broke everything down and explained what financial potential there is in being a VIPKid teacher. Thanks for the video!
MB MUSIC KIDS (3 months ago)
I passed the first demo interview. I signed up for the mock level 3 class. Haven't started yet. I'm a musician with a BS degree in education and theatre. I've been teaching music to infants - 5 yrs. and the then 5 - 12. I'm not sure how this all works yet! But I am so excited because I LOVE to teach in the same way that's required. I have more props than you know! lol! My house is a storage unit for teaching materials! I'm so looking forward to working with Vipkid. THANK YOU for your video! I can sleep well tonight!!!!! A God send of a job for me. I not only need the money, but I need to teach. Children bring out the best in me! My son is now 24! I've always been an Early Childhood teacher. I am happiest when doing so. Merry Christmas!

I'm really excited to work there so I'm working hard to pass my mock.

Thank you for making this video!! I'll be doing my mock X and P soon and I've been nervous to commit because I travel a lot - back and forth for course work between NYC and Louisiana - and have been fearing that I'd have to adapt to a really rigid schedule during times I wouldn't have access to a solid home base.
Angela Silva (3 months ago)
The schedule is very flexible, I took off the entire month of September lol. Send me an email and I can help you pass, [email protected]

How well does your Chinese have to be? Do the children speak Mandarin or Cantonese? I'm just wondering because most Chinese students probably speak mainly Chinese and want the words translated over into English words?
Angela Silva (6 months ago)
It's completely immersive, so you don't need to know any Mandarin.
Arisa Productions (7 months ago)

I am in California. Will I have to start the class at 3am? My wife and I just bought an RV last week. We plan to be full timers for 3 months or so. I would be happy to teach for VIPKID for a few hours in the morning. But what equipment will I need? Can I do a hotspot with my appble phone so I can get online to teach?
Angela Silva (11 months ago)
You won't have to, you can set your own hours. A lot of teachers do this job specifically so they can travel and still make money. Email me and I can help you out - [email protected]

HEY GIRL! I have been wanting to sign up for ages....I emailed last year and never went through with it. I have now signed up but didn't use your referral. As an experienced and certified ESL teacher, talking to a camera is soooo hard!!! Videos help so much! I just finished the express interview option and am waiting to hear back. I would like to give you credit...let me know what I need to do:) thanks girl!
Angela Silva (11 months ago)
Just send me an email and I can help you :) [email protected]
Eric Atnip (1 year ago)
I am very interested in becoming a VIP teacher. I did fill out the application and have been invited to do the express interview. Can you still refer me? Im a certified teacher and also English Language Learner certified and have taught in the public school. Recently a family member has become ill and I've had to stay home to care for them. I still have some reservations and am a little nervous about the interview.
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
You bet. Email me at [email protected] and I can help you get hired.

Great video! I've been with VIPKID for 3 years (shortly after they started up). It's been so amazing watching them grow and evolve. I make a little over $2,000 / month (before taxes). I work about 200 classes a month :) I work 7 days a week and take off one 3 day vacation a month. I LOVE what I do. It really is an amazing job and opportunity.

You're killing it!

Hi, your video was very helpful, thanks! My girlfriend is wanting to get into online teaching. She has just finished a 160-Hour TEFL certificate and has hours and hours of classroom and online teaching experience; also, a Bachelor's degree. She's a Filipino native but has native level English. Her accent is very American sounding. She has a video self-introduction here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ch0_Hu2rtfQ She applied for VIPKid about three weeks ago or so and was rejected, but that was before she passed her certificate. She read that some people got the same rejection and then reapplied and were accepted. Do you think it's worth reapplying with the certificate now, or is this line of work not really possible for Filipinos?
vinayak patil (1 year ago)
Is it online teaching or any other way to teach Please try to show something about the lesson..

Day 13. Have not taught one class. Yes, it's CNY, but there are many teachers like me being hired and wait endlessly. I think your video is factual and I do appreciate that it is your experience, but it seems like there a lot of people (myself included) who have not had any bookings despite following all of the company's recommendations. You also discuss cancellations. There is a financial penalty for cancellations in almost ALL cases even if there is a valid reason. This is a crucial detail I believe was omitted.
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
Ugh, I'm so sorry Alyse. But I promise you patience will pay off. Have you heard Nancy Taylor talk about her start? She was hired beginning of February, and made a whopping $60 that month I think it was. It took time but persistence has paid off for her and everyone who sticks it out. As for cancellations - there is only a deduction if you cancel last minute and do not have a valid reason. I have had to cancel a week's worth of classes because my grandma died and the funeral was across the country. I submitted the death announcement and received no penalty. Honestly, most teachers have no problem with the cancellation policy, I think it's extremely fair considering we set our own schedules. It's the teacher no-shows that have the penalties, but they expect that if we set the class ourselves and are in our own house, we must keep our commitment. And if there is an emergency, they are more than understanding. Also, the financial penalty comes only from the bonuses we earn, NOT from the payment for the classes. I definitely understand your frustration. The appeal of this job is the flexibility and promise of making good money from home. If you want to email me at [email protected] I'm happy to give you some tips that could help with bookings, and look over your profile and bio to offer suggestions!

How did you get so many bookings up front?
Natalie Assemany (1 year ago)
I am so excited I teach my first student in the morning! I wish I took vipkid more seriously when they tried to interview me last year and I turned it down. I already have 1 referral and I am seriously so insanely excited. I am teaching right now as a full time sub and the days off without pay (like this winter break) really are putting a dent in my bank account while I try to also get teacher certified. This is such a God send and I think I am going to fall in love with this company and students. Your videos have been so helpful ! Thank you!

I did not pass. I will try again in 3 months. I would like to try the mock example prior to a new date. More practice with TPN. Thank you, I do not think they were looking for a 66 year old African American female. You should have seen Oscar's expression when I turned on my camera. He left the screen during the demonstration lesson came back and I could not " Reclaim My Time." It's OK!

Hi Angela! I think you were my mentor for my Mock 2. :) I'm very excited to work with VIPkid.
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
I'm actually not a mock mentor, just love helping people get hired for the best job in the world :)
Neizel Alburo (1 year ago)
Hi teaher Angela just want to ask regarding the incentive like being on time, teaching more than 45 hour is that automatically recorder by them or you just remind them about those thing?thank you
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
It's automatic :)
Jenn Harman (1 year ago)
Angela, Thank you for making the video! A couple of questions; Can a Mac be used to teach in lieu of a PC? What was your undergrad degree major? I do not have a EVE Bachelor's or K--12 cert. However, I am currently an adjunct psychology professor at our local community college. Even though my experience is at the collegiate level, because of dual enrollment opportunities, I have taught High School Juniors and Seniors. In your experience with VIP Kid, would my teaching credentials align with the requirements to be hired (Obviously, I will not hold you too the answer)? Lastly, for the record, I do not believe that talking about salary and money is tacky. That is an ideal perpetuated to continue favoritism in the workplace and the unfair wage gap for men and women performing the same job with the same education and experience. More people (men as well) need to begin to discuss salaries. So in that respect, you are ahead of the curve!! Thank you in advance for your assistance. Jenn H. Hi Angela, you're video was great and very informative! I think it's awesome that you posted it! I just have a question. I am Canadian. Do you have any information about how the payment works for Canadians? I'm also currently in Mexico and plan to apply from here. Any help or insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
From what I hear, Canadians make more because of the currency exchange, haha. There are tons of FB groups for teachers from different areas, so you'll have plenty of support. If you don't have a referral teacher helping you out and would like some additional updated tips, shoot me an email at [email protected] :)

Do you have to do your lessons from home? I travel a lot, so I was wondering if I can do it in a hotel???

Are you full-time with VIPKid? I am part-time, well, I was full-time during the summer but I also teach B&M. I am considering making the switch to vipkid full time, what do you think? I would love to hear your opinion.
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
Krista, I'm only part-time, between 10-15 hours per week. I worked close to 30 during the summer, but I also work part-time during the day and do some other freelance work that keeps me busy. There are pros and cons to being full-time with VIPKid, no benefits being a big one, and losing sleep being my other, haha. When my kids get older I would consider it, though.
Demrie Alonzo (1 year ago)
Thank you for this! I've been wondering about it.
Regina Crank Davis (1 year ago)
Hi Angela! You did great! You helped me extremely with prompts for the interview. Because of you, I decided to continue the application. You may use me as a referred teacher if you like. My name is Regina Crank Davis and I'm a middle school teacher in North Carolina for 16 years. I believe I'll go and schedule now. Thanks so much.
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
Regina, I'm glad to hear it! Referrals must add teachers manually, otherwise any teacher could claim they coached hundreds of applicants they didn't actually help. Just send a quick email to [email protected] with: -my name (Angela Silva) -my email address ([email protected]) - and referral code (02VV52) ...and they'll add you to my referral tracking system and I can see your progress and results :) (please CC me on the email - I like to keep my own records because they make mistakes sometimes)
Fred Melchiorre (1 year ago)
How can I look into the webcam and read from a script or notes from my lesson? Thanks
All your videos are so good and very helpful! In my first week now and taught two girls and one boy. Yes, I agree with you that this job is a big blessing and am very thankful for it.

What are your typical morning & evening hours that you work? I am having a hard time getting my spots filled. Thanks! :)
Meredith Mowery (1 year ago)
Okay so you typically work 14 hours a week? I love your schedule bc it’s more later nights than super early mornings!
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
I'm in EST, and I work 6-7AM M-F, 9-12PM Fri night, 6-10AM Sat, and 6-8AM Sunday with the occasional weekday evening.
Lacy Bradley (1 year ago)
What does your schedule look like to get that many classes? I just started a few weeks ago. I noticed I only get mornings booked, never evenings unless it's the weekend. What times do you typically work? Thanks!
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
I'm in EST, and I work 6-7AM M-F, 9-12PM Fri night, 6-10AM Sat, and 6-8AM Sunday with the occasional weekday evening. I work more during the summer and holidays, or when my husband has the occasional day off.
Ashley Bleyer (1 year ago)
Can you tell me what time do you work? I have a nine year old and 18 month old

you helped me SO much for my demo lesson! I watched a few videos before I found yours, and you were the best one. It is so obvious that you care and you truly want to help others succeed! <3 THANK YOU
Audrey Marie (1 year ago)
ok just sent you an email!
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
Good luck! If you didn't add a referral teacher, I'd be happy to help you, and VIPKid rewards teachers who help others get hired so I could track your progress and give you tips for the rest of the way! Send me an email to [email protected] and I can help you out :)

not yet, I am still waiting for my results on my interview! fingers crossed!
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
Thanks Audrey <3 Are you on the other side yet? haha
Adrienne Dagley (1 year ago)
I stinkin' love you. I am at Mock 2 (because I think my evaluator was out to get me ;) The company needs to hire you for examples and explanations! I was just watching the example videos the company sent me and they are the opposite of all the feedback I got from that evaluator!! (One of them had many negative comments that support this opinion.) She also told me not to watch Youtube videos because they can't be responsible for the correctness of the content!!!! I think they are all helpful in different ways. But yours are GREAT!!!!!! (As an aside, she told me pointing was "aggressive" and you should gesture toward the camera with your whole hand. *eyeroll*.) Anyway, Angela, you are a godsend and so, so cute! Dental school will end someday and your family will have great income, and I think you'll probably still do this on the side because you seem to genuinely love it.
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
Adrienne your comment made my day, haha. And mentors can be REALLY subjective, I'm sorry :( If you need some help prepping or wouldn't mind adding me as your referral teacher send me an email at [email protected] and we can get you through this!
Angelina Silva (1 year ago)
Wow I just got so pumped up watching this video. I hope & pray I can pass the interview because Lord knows my family needs the money. Thanks for putting this video together.
Kristi Hartman (1 year ago)
Hmm your math isn't adding up. 6 teaching hours a week is not = to 45 classes. 6 teaching hours a week equals 12 classes. You would reach the 45 (48) if you kept that up for the 4 weeks of the month though.
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
Kristi - most people ask me about a weekly teaching schedule, and it's easier to set your schedule around a certain hours per week than per month. So I just tell everyone to aim for a minumum of 6 hours per week and they'll hit the 45 milestone, and then some :) I hope that clarifies.
Kelly Janson (1 year ago)
She was saying that in order to reach the 45 class per month incentive one would need to teach about 6 hours per week. She was correct.
Viego Alvarez (1 year ago)
Thanks for the video. I'm wondering if there are mostly women teachers because that's why they are looking for, or just not many men applying. I'm going to give it a shot, but trying to figure out how to do my background. Thanks again.
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
Teaching is a woman-dominated field, and VIPKid is no exception. I will add that men VIPKid teachers seem to be more popular among students, perhaps because they're more difficult to book because of the demand. Hope this helps! If you have any more questions send me an email at [email protected] - I check my email more than I check YouTube :)
Brianna Murcelo (1 year ago)
Do you hire an accountant to help you sort out taxes? Or do you do it yourself? Thank you for such an informational video!
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
This is my first year with VIPkid but I will hire an accountant to do my taxes now. The fee for an accountant is tax-deductible since it's a business expense. Here's an AWESOME video that answers questions about taxes for VIPKid teachers: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PShG7xVEq3o

I like your videos, and I like wORKING FOR VIPKid. I watched this, and I ALREADY work for them! Cuz I get ideas from other teachers. Anyway, I’m grateful too. I made a little over $2k a month, work from Home, and get off work by 7am! Really, it’s awesome. And you can write off part of your rent, per square foot, that you use for your office! That’s a must! Good video. You’re super pretty, have energy, and love your job! Careful, someone’s gonna hate you. Oh, someone already does. Oh noooooo! We mellllllt when someone hates that we love life. Oh wait no we don’t. Hahahahaha. Anyway, lovin’ the flexibility, and thanks for sharing. I need to work on more referrals. I am up to 2 a month, but I think I should be better at it.
SkepticRunner (1 year ago)
that was my intent :)
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
Bahaha you made me laugh. There really isn't a better job out there that gives you flexibility of your schedule, ability to work from home or anywhere, and consistent pay without having to sell or build a team.
chris wall (1 year ago)
im moving to Poland so I really hope this job can be done while traveling and living in other countries!
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
SO MANY teachers do this as their traveling job. VIPKid even promotes it as a job compatible with a traveling lifestyle. Shoot me an email at [email protected] if you have more questions or want some help - I check email more often than I check YouTube :)
SkepticRunner (1 year ago)
chris wall yes! It can. Just get a green screen on amazon that is foldable and retractable, and use software. Message me if you wanna know more about that. You can still use her link; but I’ll give you the “in’s” to doing it remote; I do sometimes and will be a lot two weeks from now.
Yasmín Angelie (1 year ago)
I started the application process but haven't finished because I'm scared I won't get bookings. I tutor for Chegg and it's a miracle if I land one (before the other tutors) when I'm sitting there for hours. Thank you for answering that question here!
Angela Silva (1 year ago)
Yasmin, this is nothing like Chegg. My husband used to be a recruiter for Chegg, actually. There are more than 300,000 students with VIPKid in China, and counting. The demand is huge. These are not American students needing extra help with homework - learning English is a gamechanger for these kids in their academic success. I'm happy to help you finish the process and give you tips for bookings if you'd like.
