Nice Video
MajQu (10 months ago)
The difference is between 5 fps 😂 fuck that I ain't paying 500£ for 1060 6gb it's the same shit as having 1060 3 GB and it cost 300£
MohraSher (9 months ago)
MajQu the extra ram doesn't necessarily give better performance. Extra ram is good for ultra textures at high resolutions. If on 1080 monitor then 3gb is probably enough for most games.

you will be running it at at least 140 fps my 1070 runs it @ 226 on ultra at a res of 3440x1440p

Just got a brand new MSI 1060 3GB, can't wait to try it out on GTA V. Any other recommended games to buy (that have good gameplay, too??? =D =D +D)???
CountDracon (1 year ago)
+Cherry Voodoo they say the 6gig 1060 is better than this 3gig gtx 1060, its more future proof and you do get 10-15 better frames. Im still on the fence if its any better.....i want the 17 inch 6gig gtx1060 but it only has 128 ssd and 1 tb. The one we are most likely talking about is the 15 inch 256ssd 3gig gtx1060 version with 1tb. Its the extra ssd thats holding me up on getting the 3 gig gtx version and the other is that the 6 gig gtx is more future proof. Idk...
Cherry Voodoo (1 year ago)
yes, the 3GB Armor
CountDracon (1 year ago)
+Cherry Voodoo when you say "card" you mean the gtx 1060 right?
Cherry Voodoo (1 year ago)
Right now I don't have too many games to test it out. CS:GO runs silky smooth maxed out, but that's not a very resource intensive game. I still need to tweak my graphics in GTA, it's very easy to overload it and experience reduced performance, but I think it's because GTA has so many different settings for video and I haven't found that perfect balance yet. I need to re-tweak them after the new driver update. Wolfenstien looks great, and you can do maximum view distance in Minecraft without Optifine with barely any noticeable lag, although I don't recommend it. Overall, there is a small issue where the card seems to render certain objects/props in games slowly with poor anti-aliasing - that is you can see far away objects noticeably "fade" into view as they are being rendered, this is noticeable in multiple games. Also, I have experienced some texture glitches, but only in GTA. I would recommend this card for budget builds... it gets the job done on most current games, allowing you to play with a good frame-rate overall, but it's certainly not the prettiest looking, and you may casually notice some odd artifacts here and there. You will definitely have to do some tweaking in bigger games if you want to get it looking better, but just about anything will be at least playable. It seems to sacrifice the actual video quality for maintaining consistent frame-rate - that is to say that most games won't look as good as a high-end card, but you can rest assured that your FPS isn't going to drop at any point unexpectedly. So it's great for online gaming, shooters, and video capture... but isn't really for showing off maxed-out games.
CountDracon (1 year ago)
Cherry Voodoo how good are the games on it?
DJ North (2 years ago)
Good card for 1080p 60Hz. It'll do until I go for the 1440p 144Hz build in two years or so. I'm tempted to get my monitor anyway already, drop some settings and see how it holds out.

Bluzo (2 years ago)
So I can barely get 70 fps on ultra. Is it because I have an i5 4690k and 8gb? Does this mean the i5 bottlenecks the 1060?
Mojo (2 years ago)
There is a very simple way to see if your cpu is the bottleneck. You put every graphical option on the lowest setting and run the same test. If you get better fps then your cpu is not the bottleneck. If your FPS stay the same then your cpu might be the bottleneck. The game can also be capped at 60fps so keep that in  mind. In any case, an I5 4440 is as good as it gets. You can buy a "better" cpu but in terms of gaming the difference will be negligible.
Rocko Dathaguy (2 years ago)
Gpu usage is lower than 80% and cpu usage is about 90% and even going to 100% at some weird peaks. Even if i had a 1070 i dont think would get better frames.
Mojo (2 years ago)
+Rocko Dathaguy An i5 4440 is not bottlenecking anything. It's just not possible.
Rocko Dathaguy (2 years ago)
I have an i5 4440 and i can spot some bottleneck in GTA V, ofc my cpu is far less capable.
Mojo (2 years ago)
There is no such thing as cpu bottlenecks with modern quad cores. You could have a gtx 1080 and it still wouldn't be an issue.
chris99103 (2 years ago)
To call this card GTX 1060 is a fraud as it features less CUDA cores and less TMUs.
Imabitch (2 years ago)
+chris99103 yea depends on what you play mate not everyone plays skyrim or gta v and modding the game will give you less performance than game already having the hd textures... theres no that many modders out i mean there are but in % not even half a percent.... so conclusion f2p games wont need over 3 gb of vram and only few AAA titles actually need over 3gb of vram to have better graphics
chris99103 (2 years ago)
Its still not the same card and 3gb vram vs 6gb vram is a vast difference in many scenarios. Even old Skyrim goes way beyond 3gb of vram with a couple of hd exture packs and even GTA V on ultra textures pushes to 3,8 gb vram use. 3gb is not up to the task in 2016
Imabitch (2 years ago)
chris99103 not by much because the performance is almost the same and it sells for less, nvidia themselves said 5 % difference and you can see that for yourself

is core i5 6600, gtx 1060 3g, and 8 gb of ram good for 1080p gaming? Or should I invest in the 6g?

haha I almost got same setup except my i5 is 6400, I play rome 2 TotalWar on MAX on 1920x1080 Pixel and didnt really spotted fps drops if you dont go crazy in Custom Battles :p, I heard it plays BF1 Ultra and 60Fps :)

It's better 970oc or 1060 3gb??
Imabitch (2 years ago)
ViRaGaming 1060 has the performance of a 980 and you can oc it and get even more out about 5-10 more god on average but it depends on how much you can push it. I oc'ed mine to a bit over 2 Ghz clock and a bit over 9.3 Ghz mem clock
Nicolas jdjs (2 years ago)
this one is better performs between 970-980... a 970 heavily overclocked would performs as the 1060 3gb or little better but 1060 does too
DougisLive (2 years ago)
+ViRaGaming it's cause of vram.

CandyTech (2 years ago)
Check out my video when the 3gb is OC, yes it's close in many games but for a little more future proof i would go with the 6GB version and it has more cuda cores
Abdul Mohammad (2 years ago)
why you can feel any lags on the 3gb version sir?
Abdul Mohammad (2 years ago)
i thought that they have almost the same speed in gaming but the cost of the VC is higher than the 6gb. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060-3gb-vs-6gb-review

MSI 1060 GAMING X 3G ...read the description...
Martin Mašek (2 years ago)
Well, now i Definitely don´t know which card will I buy for my girlfriend :(. She plays max on 1080p. I´am a little afraid about the 3 Gb Vram on gtx 1060(not future proof ?), but 6Gb gtx 1060 is too expensive (Except Gainward). Rx 470 is very cheap but i heard about black screen issue, and very unstable FPS. RX 480 costs the same as RX 470 in our country. So I really don´t get the pricing right now... The MSI gtx 1060 3Gb is the only one i stock right now. The rest will be avaible in month. Maybe.

UltraLaserBlast (2 years ago)
what about 480 4gb vs 1060 3gb?!?! good vid! 👍
Imabitch (2 years ago)
UltraLaserBlast 1060 beats it in dx 11 and AMD is on par or better at dx 12 and only a handful of titles are on dx 12 so if you wanna play today's games go for nvidia
Nightwing (2 years ago)
hmm on newegg, the 6g 1060s are all going for like $300+, while the 3g 1060 is around 220-230. i dont think that extra 3g vram/5-10fps is worth an extra hundred bucks lol
The Multi Gamer (11 months ago)
chris99103 ultra textures barely ever look different though
Dennis (1 year ago)
3gb makes a difference. A gtx 1060 is kinda better than a rx 470 4gb and equal to rx 480 4gb, but already in games you see the VRAM bottleneck the 3gb gtx 1060. It's only 1 ram, but still 1 ram extra is still a gain of 33%. Some games already use 6/8gb of VRAM in 1080p, so I wouldn't go for anything less than 4 gb, but 6gb or 8gb is better.
Nightwing (2 years ago)
lol the fact you use gta as an example, than say that cpu power doesnt play a roll LMAO. the fucking irony gg m8
chris99103 (2 years ago)
+xNight Wing yeah...genius...care to elaborate how one can play GTA V on ultra textures which pushes vram use to 3,8 gb ram ??? If you think that maxing out games in graphics has anything to do with cpu you are simply iliterate...no need to continue debating
Nightwing (2 years ago)
+chris99103 do you even look at benchmark scores. that doesnt matter. the 3g version only gets 5-10 fps less than the 6gb version. 3g of vram is more than enough to max out games assuming you have a good cpu.

Where I live MSI 1060 3gb and EVGA 1060 SC (6gb) have the same price. That's ridiculous I think...
Nicolas jdjs (2 years ago)
maybe both are too expensive.
CandyTech (2 years ago)
i don't really know yet , but AMD dose perform very well in Vulkan
Xavier I. F. (2 years ago)
What importance would you get to Vulkan nowadays considering you want to buy a new GPU? I'm in that point between 1060 (evga 1060 sc) or 1070 (no matter, the cheapest I think) but not sure about if RX 480 is better futureproof.
