MSI GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING 3G Series are kept cool by the imposing TWIN FROZR VI thermal design, allowing for higher core and memory clock speeds for increased performance in games.
The recognizable shapes of the eye-catching TWIN FROZR cooler are intensified by a fiery red GAMING glow piercing through the cover, while the MSI GAMING dragon RGB LED on the side can be set to any of 16.8 million colors to fit your mood or build. A completely new custom 6-phase PCB design using Military Class 4 components with an 8-pin power connector enables higher overclocking performance to push your graphics card to the max. The classy matte black solid metal backplate gives the GAMING X more structural strength and provides a nice finishing touch.
MSI’s new TWIN FROZR VI Thermal Design raises the bar of Graphics Card air cooling. TORX Fan 2.0 is the enhanced version of the patented MSI TORX Fan technology which generates 22% more air pressure for better cooling performance while further reducing noise levels. Connected to the huge heatsink are up to 8mm thick copper heat pipes with a squared shape at the bottom for optimal heat transfer from the solid nickel-plated copper baseplate combined with Premium Thermal Compound X to keep the Pascal powerhouse cool.
i just bought GTX 1060 Gaming X 3g i manage to get on valley benchmark on 1080p at High with out AA 5693 ofc i have oc the card to the point that i cant oc it more cose it crush i havent touch voltage and i will not..performance is epic for the money i spend and for the oc room it have with out touch the voltage i have seen a stable 2075 mhz oltho in the valley it says i have 2144 on the uper left of my screen in msi after burner it says i have 2075 in use atm with custom profile the fun runs at 55% around with max 58-60c epic temperatures msi cooler is the best around thats my opinion ofc. plz send me if u have greater stable OC with out touch voltage
+Cherry Voodoo they say the 6gig 1060 is better than this 3gig gtx 1060, its more future proof and you do get 10-15 better frames. Im still on the fence if its any better.....i want the 17 inch 6gig gtx1060 but it only has 128 ssd and 1 tb. The one we are most likely talking about is the 15 inch 256ssd 3gig gtx1060 version with 1tb.
Its the extra ssd thats holding me up on getting the 3 gig gtx version and the other is that the 6 gig gtx is more future proof. Idk...
Right now I don't have too many games to test it out. CS:GO runs silky smooth maxed out, but that's not a very resource intensive game. I still need to tweak my graphics in GTA, it's very easy to overload it and experience reduced performance, but I think it's because GTA has so many different settings for video and I haven't found that perfect balance yet. I need to re-tweak them after the new driver update. Wolfenstien looks great, and you can do maximum view distance in Minecraft without Optifine with barely any noticeable lag, although I don't recommend it.
Overall, there is a small issue where the card seems to render certain objects/props in games slowly with poor anti-aliasing - that is you can see far away objects noticeably "fade" into view as they are being rendered, this is noticeable in multiple games. Also, I have experienced some texture glitches, but only in GTA.
I would recommend this card for budget builds... it gets the job done on most current games, allowing you to play with a good frame-rate overall, but it's certainly not the prettiest looking, and you may casually notice some odd artifacts here and there. You will definitely have to do some tweaking in bigger games if you want to get it looking better, but just about anything will be at least playable. It seems to sacrifice the actual video quality for maintaining consistent frame-rate - that is to say that most games won't look as good as a high-end card, but you can rest assured that your FPS isn't going to drop at any point unexpectedly. So it's great for online gaming, shooters, and video capture... but isn't really for showing off maxed-out games.
There is a very simple way to see if your cpu is the bottleneck. You put every graphical option on the lowest setting and run the same test. If you get better fps then your cpu is not the bottleneck. If your FPS stay the same then your cpu might be the bottleneck. The game can also be capped at 60fps so keep that in mind.
In any case, an I5 4440 is as good as it gets. You can buy a "better" cpu but in terms of gaming the difference will be negligible.
+chris99103 yea depends on what you play mate not everyone plays skyrim or gta v and modding the game will give you less performance than game already having the hd textures... theres no that many modders out i mean there are but in % not even half a percent.... so conclusion f2p games wont need over 3 gb of vram and only few AAA titles actually need over 3gb of vram to have better graphics
Its still not the same card and 3gb vram vs 6gb vram is a vast difference in many scenarios. Even old Skyrim goes way beyond 3gb of vram with a couple of hd exture packs and even GTA V on ultra textures pushes to 3,8 gb vram use. 3gb is not up to the task in 2016
haha I almost got same setup except my i5 is 6400, I play rome 2 TotalWar on MAX on 1920x1080 Pixel and didnt really spotted fps drops if you dont go crazy in Custom Battles :p, I heard it plays BF1 Ultra and 60Fps :)
ViRaGaming 1060 has the performance of a 980 and you can oc it and get even more out about 5-10 more god on average but it depends on how much you can push it. I oc'ed mine to a bit over 2 Ghz clock and a bit over 9.3 Ghz mem clock
Well, now i Definitely don´t know which card will I buy for my girlfriend :(.
She plays max on 1080p. I´am a little afraid about the 3 Gb Vram on gtx 1060(not future proof ?), but 6Gb gtx 1060 is too expensive (Except Gainward). Rx 470 is very cheap but i heard about black screen issue, and very unstable FPS. RX 480 costs the same as RX 470 in our country. So I really don´t get the pricing right now...
The MSI gtx 1060 3Gb is the only one i stock right now. The rest will be avaible in month. Maybe.
3gb makes a difference. A gtx 1060 is kinda better than a rx 470 4gb and equal to rx 480 4gb, but already in games you see the VRAM bottleneck the 3gb gtx 1060. It's only 1 ram, but still 1 ram extra is still a gain of 33%. Some games already use 6/8gb of VRAM in 1080p, so I wouldn't go for anything less than 4 gb, but 6gb or 8gb is better.
yeah...genius...care to elaborate how one can play GTA V on ultra textures which pushes vram use to 3,8 gb ram ??? If you think that maxing out games in graphics has anything to do with cpu you are simply iliterate...no need to continue debating
+chris99103 do you even look at benchmark scores. that doesnt matter. the 3g version only gets 5-10 fps less than the 6gb version. 3g of vram is more than enough to max out games assuming you have a good cpu.
What importance would you get to Vulkan nowadays considering you want to buy a new GPU? I'm in that point between 1060 (evga 1060 sc) or 1070 (no matter, the cheapest I think) but not sure about if RX 480 is better futureproof.
