You know what... people SUCK! When you run a "special", there are always shoppers, these people jump from stylist to stylist to get the service as cheap as possible. Most women do not want to pay what a PERFECT-GREAT job costs. What destroyed the nail industry is oriental shops, they use cheap product, do not have clean tools sometimes and people think everyone should charge what those shops do.
1. Great business advice that can be applied to many different areas (for example I'm a fashion stylist and you gave me great ideas for stuff to post to show clients I know my shit)
2. Your dog is cute af I love him

Doing nails on other people can be "fun"?😵
*Plays X-files theme*
A bit dramatic I know.
Sorry about that.😆
Nail school really was just hell on earth for me.😒😥
I went to nail school last year in February and finished it in September. In the last couple of months I've finally started to enjoy doing my own nails again.
The scars are gonna take a long time to heal on that ordeal.
Awesome video by the way!😄💗
Thank you for a super awesome tutorial on business talk - you are so inspirational Celina, fabulous tips I too use in my salon. After being in the industry for over 10 yrs as a professional nail tech, I'm slowly learning the difference of knowing my worth & not feeling guilty providing top quality over cheap prices, as I see in chain salons pumping out clients. Thanks again sweetie - Tina, Gold Coast, Australia :)
And again thank you it is nice to be able to watch someone explain things two new people and make them feel like they're not idiots but give them information that they need that helps them to feel like they're not less than the best thank you again
In the States, the majority of nail shops are using smelly, illegal product. Truth is Point I'd prefer to hand over my hard earned money to a polished and professional woman (full make-up and exquisite nails), than a quick, assembly line shop. When one project professionalism in their outward appearance, people are more willing to pay more. Thanks for the video!
Cultivate as many older ladies as you can for regular clients. 2 fun facts for this practice: first, women aged 55 and older spend more on their nails than any other group, and second, many still come from the generations when weekly beauty appointments were a very normal thing, so once they've decided they prefer your service, you've got a regular weekly for the rest of her life.
Edited to add: If you live near a casino, the lady card dealers can be a fantastic set of regular clients, especially those who deal for high-stakes games, because in their work a perfect manicure is absolutely mandatory. They always need polish replacements touch-ups. Get to know some outside of the casino and give them your card, if you do nice work at a good speed, they'll spread the good word about your services. As a bonus you can normally expect to be paid and tipped in cash by them.
Thank you so much. I am contemplating becoming a nail tech in the US. I have been doing a lot of research and I can tell you that I have learned a lot more watching yours than any other techs. I am going for it, I will learn everything I can while in school and out. Thank you once again.
Really helpful. Can you tell me your sanitary practices? I have a separate nail box with clients own files. My e-file bits I wash and put in a ultrasound machine with dental/medical sterilizing fluid and then 30mins in UV light machine.... but I have the feeling I Sound have an autoclave?
Thanks so much for your advice Celina, as a newbie I can never get enough advice and I love the way you do your videos. Martin is just adorable ((kisses)) . Keep the videos coming and thanks for taking the time out to make them for us x💗x💗x💗x
I'm a massage therapist and was just watching because I am a nail enthusiast. But I find all this advice applicable to my own business as well. In my industry we also tend to set our prices too low, run over time and not charge for it, work too hard by not refining our skills (wasting "product") and when I see people running Groupons for massage, I cringe. I agree with you 100%, those type of offers attract the wrong type of client - a cheap client who will probably not return. I charge a price at the high end of the market in my area and nobody blinks an eye at my price -- because as you say, I know my shit! And they can tell a world of difference between me and Massage Envy, so that's why they don't mind paying extra. Great video!!!
Thank you for creating this video. I am very new at learning about nails and I am looking into the best school to attend so I can become a certified nail tech. I have always loved getting my nails done and so when I happen to see your video I decided to watch it. There are great tips here and I will take note of them.
Great tips, I'm in school and I'm almost finished. So I've been a lil nervous about the after graduation. Is there anyway I can message you, to ask you a couple of questions. And no worries if it's a no. Thanks so much for sharing.
Yes, Yes, love your videos on the videos, filming and editing. I'm one that can say I will click off a video in a sec if the tech or person is bla bla bla and I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. I'm out and moving on. They need to do homework and plan what they are talking about. I don't care how bad I want to see the nails. Another issue I have is displaying product. I have seen many shake, flip back and forth a bottle of polish so fast it made me car sick and never did get the name or product number. Please please Celina give them more hints. I think there are so many that do beautiful work but the videos suck. Just saying
Things I actually already know, but very useful to get the heads up from a pro! Wake up Suzanne !! 💪🏼😊
