How to Determine the Carrying Value of Bonds

09:33
This video shows how to calculate the carrying value of a bond throughout the life of the bond. The initial carrying value is the issue price of the bond. This carrying value is then adjusted each period (adjusted upward if the bond was issued at a discount, downward if the bond was issued at a premium). In the examples solved in this video (compiled by Andrew Rossman), P/Y & C/Y are left at their default values. That is, P/Y=C/Y =1. For examples that require changing P/Y and C/Y, please see the following playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD3fYc0bAjC-gmXXegedT3l9mLa8YjhK5 Problems Solved: Example 1: Laura takes a 15-year, $500 000 mortgage, on a new condo. At an interest rate of 4% (that is compounded monthly), what is the monthly payment? Example 2:Helene is planning ahead for her daughter Paula’s college tuition. Paula begins college in 5 years and will need $80,000. How much would Helene have to invest today at 6% compounded annually to have $80,000 in 5 years? Example 3: Josh has an investment account with $50,000. If Josh earns 6% per year and contributes $400 each month, how much will his investments be worth in 10 years? Example 4: Steven has $25,000 in credit card debt. His credit card charges 2% in monthly interest and Steven pays $1,000 each month toward the balance. If Steven doesn’t make any further purchases, how many months will it take to fully repay his debt? Example 5: Martin’s savings account has $25,000 today. In 5 years, the account is worth $32,000. What is the annual interest rate?

How to Price/Value Bonds - Formula, Annual, Semi-Annual, Market Value, Accrued Interest

http://www.subjectmoney.com http://www.subjectmoney.com/definitiondisplay.php?word=Bond%20Pricing In this video we show you how to calculate the value or price of a bond. We teach you the present value formula and then use examples to discount the coupon payments and principle payment to their present value. We also show you how to solve the price of a semi-annual bond. In this case you would multiply the periods by two and divide the YTM and coupon payments by 2. We also show you how to solve the accrued interest of a bond to find out what it would sell for at a date that is not on the exact coupon payment date. https://www.youtube.com/user/Subjectmoney https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zCqoED8MVk http://www.roofstampa.com hjttp://roofstampa.com http:/www.subjectmoney.com http://www.excelfornoobs.com

The books can be found at the following location: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0982967624/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0982967624&linkCode=as2&tag=pypull-20&linkId=EOHYVY7DPUCW3WD4 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1939370159/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=1939370159&linkCode=as2&tag=pypull-20&linkId=XRE5CA2QJ3I2OWSW In this lesson, we began to understand the important terms that truly value a bond. Since most investors will never hold a bond throughout the entire term, understanding how to value the asset becomes very important. As we get into the second course of this website, a thorough understanding of these terms is needed. So, be sure to learn it now and not jump ahead. We learned that there are two ways to look at the value of a bond, simple interest and compound interest. As an intelligent investor, you'll really want to focus on understanding compound interest. The term that was really important to understand in this lesson was yield to maturity. This term was really important because it accounted for almost every variable we could consider when determining the true value (or intrinsic value) of the bond. Yield to Maturity estimates the total amount of money you will earn over the entire life of the bond, but it actually accounts for all coupons, interest-on-interest, and gains or losses you'll sustain from the difference between the price you pay and the par value.

UPDATE: You can also find the YTM by trial and error. If you plug in 0.06 for the YTM in the equation this gives you $91,575, which is lower than $92,227. YTM = 0.058 gives you $92,376, which is a little bit higher than $92,227. YTM = 0.0585 gives you $92,175, but YTM = 0.0584 gives you $92,215 which is very close to $92,227. Thus, 5.84% is the approximate YTM This video explains how to calculate the yield-to-maturity of a coupon bond. Bonds: Spot Rates vs. Yield to Maturity

06:54
What's the difference between a spot rate and a bond's yield-to-maturity? In this video you'll learn how to find the price of the bond using spot rates, as well as how to find the yield-to-maturity of a bond once we know it's price. Simply put, spot rates are used to discount cash flows happening at a particular point in time, back to time 0. A bond's yield-to-maturity is the overall return that the investor will make by purchasing the bond - think of it as a weighted average!

Perpetuity Calculation in 6 Minutes: Present Value of a Perpetuity Formula

06:34
Clicked here http://www.MBAbullshit.com/ and OMG wow! I'm SHOCKED how easy! No wonder others goin crazy sharing this??? Share it with your other friends too! To start with, what is the conventional definition of "perpetuity?" It just means "for ever and ever." Thus in finance, what do human beings mean by this unique duplicate principle? Suppose I bestowed upon you a piece of paper or certificate, and that paper guaranteed that I would definitely pay you a determined amount each year, perpetually. That piece of paper is termed a "perpetuity." Straightforward! In what way is it distinctive from a promissory note? It isn't. We may well mention it's a special kind of promissory note which generally functions evermore, with continual payments every year (or similar time period). Currently the query is... if I made an effort to sell you this unique piece of paper, how much should you be prepared to pay for it? If I suggested... buy this piece of paper for only $100, and I am going to administer you $2 for the rest of your life, evermore. Would you obtain it? It seems just like a great treaty, right? In fact, you absolutely pay once, and after that you will definitely obtain hard earned money produced by me endlessly! However think about this yet another way also... For instance the bank's interest is 5% per annum. If you placed the very same $100 in the bank and held it there perpetually, simply how much could you take every year, evermore? You will definitely get $5 every twelve months! ($5 is 5% of $100). Greatly in excess of the $2 every twelve months you could take from me if you purchase my piece of paper for $100! For that reason, are you still eager to pay me $100 to get $2 anually perpetually? Or, should you prefer to utilize the same $100 to deposit in the bank, and get a significantly higher $5 every twelve months instead? Obviously, you can expect to prefer to put your personal hard earned cash in the bank! Having said that, you could possibly continue to be willing to buy my piece of paper or perpetuity if I decrease the selling price. Just how much should I drop it to allow it to become worth your hard earned cash? Obviously, we cannot plainly use our feelings to suppose the perfect price. So just how do we realize the particular amount? To get this, we utilize the Present Value of a Perpetuity Formula. With this, you can see that the "fair value" in this instance is $40. The fastest formula, which assumes consistent once a year cash flows, looks like this: = (Yearly Cashflow)/(bank interest rate every year) *Fair value = $40 signifies that if you spend more than that, you're really acquiring a sour trade... you may be in a more advantageous predicament putting your hard earned money in the bank. What is the wisdom behind this "fair value"? We return to the IRR theory. At the fair value of $40, the IRR of our perpetuity is precisely identical as the interest rate of your bank deposit. Gist: $40 earning $2/year will have an IRR of 5%. A bank deposit of $100 earning $5 per year will also have an IRR of 5%; for that reason making the returns exactly the same or fair. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dtc_tOc3HcU

How to Calculate Yield to Maturity - YTM JAIIB Live Class [Hindi]

13:06
Yield to maturity (YTM) is the total return anticipated on a bond if the bond is held until the end of its lifetime. Yield to maturity is considered a long-term bond yield, but is expressed as an annual rate. In other words, it is the internal rate of return of an investment in a bond if the investor holds the bond until maturity and if all payments are made as scheduled. ---------------------------------------------------------- GET 3000+ JAIIB PREVIOUS YEAR QUESTIONS, Study Notes, Videos https://goo.gl/M8zMrV ------------------------------------------------------------- GET 4000+ CAIIB PREVIOUS YEAR QUESTIONS, Study Notes, Videos https://goo.gl/QGq6Sc ---------------------------------------------------------- Present value Table: https://photos.app.goo.gl/644fD4y6kn6JrJ9G2 Annuity Table: https://photos.app.goo.gl/i6GPIl5zKHYEk3732 ____________________________________________________________ Join our Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/jaiib.caiib.tests/ ____________________________________________________________ How to Calculate EMI [VIDEO in हिंदी ] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwIDmbT2Tts GET JAIIB PREVIOUS YEAR QUESTIONS APP: Download JAIIB Pro App for Android Now: https://goo.gl/ySSwak Internal Rate of Return: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgcY0vsINtE Yield to Maturity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KL7Jn99RIKI Letter of Credit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZG7KVz6ADA ___________________________________________________ Important Question Principles & Practices of banking ___________________________________________________ Part 1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AnaI4QCtrM Part 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5p9BMivJyyg Legal Banking Questions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7N3nBm7E8M Basel 1 Basel 2 Basel 3: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_sOTObwx7g SARFAESI ACT 2002: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NFP--aVBrN8 Joint Liability Group: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwHr4kbYtb4 Self Help Group: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw2E4wGC6XY Hypothecation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfyMNVKBttY Pledge: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SeOj8iSo1-E Banking Ombudsman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yk_qkutLzXY Internal rate of return https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgcY0vsINtE Protection to paying banker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5E41Xd9rbs Letter of Credit and Its Types https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZG7KVz6ADA ____________________________________________________________ Download App: https://bit.do/jaiib -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Please watch: "Protection to Collecting Banker NI Act Legal and Regulatory Aspects of Banking JAIIB" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-hiw3njkak -~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

Explaining Bond Prices and Bond Yields

06:44
In this revision video we work through some numerical examples of the inverse relationship between the market price of fixed-interest government bonds and the yields on those bonds. Government bonds are fixed interest securities. This means that a bond pays a fixed annual interest – this is known as the coupon The coupon (paid in £s, $s, Euros etc.) is fixed but the yield on a bond will vary The yield is effectively the interest rate on a bond. The yield will vary inversely with the market price of a bond 1.When bond prices are rising, the yield will fall 2.When bond prices are falling, the yield will rise - - - - - - - - - MORE ABOUT TUTOR2U ECONOMICS: Visit tutor2u Economics for thousands of free study notes, videos, quizzes and more: https://www.tutor2u.net/economics A Level Economics Revision Flashcards: https://www.tutor2u.net/economics/store/selections/alevel-economics-revision-flashcards A Level Economics Example Top Grade Essays: https://www.tutor2u.net/economics/store/selections/exemplar-essays-for-a-level-economics
