WEATHER & ENVIRONMENT - IELTS Speaking Sample Answer 8.0+ with Tape Script

08:19
Part 1 E: What is the climate like in your country? C: I live in A city with the tropical climate which comprises 4 seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. E: Would you prefer to live in a hot or cold country? C: Actually, I really love the weather in the city I’m living in now. With 4 seasons each year, I have the chance to experience most typical types the weather, from blistering to freezing. E: What is the best/worst weather for traveling in? C: Well, I had a terrible trip in the heavy rain, and I always wish that I won’t be in the similar situation anymore. E: Are there any problems with the weather in your country? C: Well, as I’ve mentioned before, there are 4 seasons in my country, so the weather is changeable, leading to the problems of health, especially affect to the elder and children. Part 2 E: Thank you very much. Let’s move on cue card topic. Here’s the question: Describe an environmental problem You should say: What it is How long it has existed How it affects people’s lives And explain how you think the problem will develop in the future I’d like you to speak on this topic in 2 minutes. Before that, you have 1 minute to prepare. And here’s some paper and pen for you to make some notes if you wish. …1 minute… Well, could you please begin. Well, I’m going to talk about the pollution, one of the most need-to-be-solved problems of the environment in the 20th century. In my opinion, I suppose that the main reason for the pollution is the overpopulation and a rapid, sprawling industrialization of this city within recent 30 years. It is crystal clear that a large number of populations, especially in cities always cause environmental pollution such as water pollution, air pollution, and sound pollution. The more cars they use, the more energy and natural resources they consume, the more wastages, exhaust fumes and noises they create. First and foremost, the water pollution is caused by the bloom of industries and factories that have been stand beside the rivers. These factories and industries produce a large number of industrial waste which directly affects the water. As a result, the effect of water pollution is severe, which affect dramatically to human lives. In detail, we can’t live without water, especially for a large number of people rely on the water of the rivers. Using the polluted water, it leads to diseases can become epidemics without the proper control. The next, air pollution usually happens in the cities with chemical smoke and carbon dioxide. As a consequence, people have to suffer various dangerous diseases including lung cancer, asthma, heart disease etc, which make people dying out. Last but not least, sound pollution is called as a silent killer that causes lots of serious health problems including hearing and brain cancer. Notably, the sound pollution directly threats the surrounded wildlife as well. Therefore, if we don’t have right actions in the nick of time, the pollution will be worse with the natural disaster and man-made disaster as well. Moreover, these pollutions will cause the overall environmental contamination – the reason of becoming extinct. Part 3 E: Thank you very much. Let’s move on to discussion topic related to the Weather&Environment E: Which environmental problems are people most concerned about in your country? C: Well, my country is a developing country which focuses on export rural products. Therefore, it is a serious problem of slash-and-burn in my country because of the lack of awareness about the environment. Because of this action, there are many severe results happened such as over cultivation, the break of the ecological balance and natural disaster. Seriously, both human and nature are under threat. E: Do you think large companies and business organizations should be more environmentally friendly? Why? How? C: In my opinion, the duty doesn’t just depend on the large companies because protecting the environment is an all-rounded process related to all of us. However, it’s easier for the large business organization to spend more money to establish green technology which is environmentally friendly. Besides, they need to reduce the release of the industrial waste. E: How can we teach children about the importance of protecting the environment? C: Well, this is a rush time for us to act, to improve the children’s awareness about protecting the environment, but it’s never easy. In my opinion, I think that the children need to learn about the environment and join the practical activities for this purpose such as collecting the rubbish on the beach, taking part in the pressure groups to raise their voices about the environment. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SUBSCRIBE: https://goo.gl/Zd4cFB DOWNLOAD FREE Practice App iOS: http://apple.co/2j3DJBZ Android: https://goo.gl/LVf3jF VISIT OUR COMMUNITY: https://www.facebook.com/ieltsezdotcom

Natural Resources

09:40
Natural resources are essential to food production, enhanced rural development and sustainable livelihoods. Conflicts and competition over access to, and the use of these resources are likely to increase in many regions and will be exacerbated by changing growing conditions, increased water scarcity, loss of biodiversity, extreme weather events and other effects of climate change. The sustainable management of natural resources for the benefit of present and future generations requires addressing key aspects of natural resources and their governance across all sectors. This video comments on FAO's work to support to smallholders in developping sustainable management systems that support development while conserving resources for future generations, presented at the 2012 FAO Committee on Agriculture exhibits on Fighting hunger through sustainable smallholder agriculture. Satellites: "Space Down to Earth" 1970 NASA; Weather, Communications, Earth Resources Sats

27:31
NASA & Space Miscellany playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL_hX5wLdhf_K3mK1TZNCkmdD-JMZYGew1 more at: http://scitech.quickfound.net "This film shows the role of applications satellites in solving Earthbound problems. The film illustrates what such satellites were doing in 1970, and what can be expected in the next decade, the 1970s, in such fields as performing Earth resources surveys, tracing and measuring pollution levels, locating mineral resources, making long-range weather forecasts, providing more precise Earth measurements, and improving navigation and communications." Originally a public domain film from NASA, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and one-pass brightness-contrast-color correction & mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Satellite Wikipedia license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ In the context of spaceflight, a satellite is an artificial object which has been intentionally placed into orbit. Such objects are sometimes called artificial satellites to distinguish them from natural satellites such as Earth's Moon. In 1957 the Soviet Union launched the world's first artificial satellite, Sputnik 1. Since then, about 6,600 satellites from more than 40 countries have been launched. According to a 2013 estimate, 3,600 remained in orbit. Of those, about 1,000 were operational; while the rest have lived out their useful lives and become space debris. Approximately 500 operational satellites are in low-Earth orbit, 50 are in medium-Earth orbit (at 20,000 km), and the rest are in geostationary orbit (at 36,000 km). A few large satellites have been launched in parts and assembled in orbit. Over a dozen space probes have been placed into orbit around other bodies and become artificial satellites to the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, a few asteroids, a comet and the Sun. Satellites are used for many purposes. Common types include military and civilian Earth observation satellites, communications satellites, navigation satellites, weather satellites, and space telescopes. Space stations and human spacecraft in orbit are also satellites. Satellite orbits vary greatly, depending on the purpose of the satellite, and are classified in a number of ways. Well-known (overlapping) classes include low Earth orbit, polar orbit, and geostationary orbit. A launch vehicle is a rocket that places a satellite into orbit. Usually, it lifts off from a launch pad on land. Some are launched at sea from a submarine or a mobile maritime platform, or aboard a plane (see air launch to orbit). Satellites are usually semi-independent computer-controlled systems. Satellite subsystems attend many tasks, such as power generation, thermal control, telemetry, attitude control and orbit control... - Communications satellites are satellites stationed in space for the purpose of telecommunications. Modern communications satellites typically use geosynchronous orbits, Molniya orbits or Low Earth orbits. - Earth observation satellites are satellites intended for non-military uses such as environmental monitoring, meteorology, map making etc. (See especially Earth Observing System.) - Navigational satellites are satellites which use radio time signals transmitted to enable mobile receivers on the ground to determine their exact location. The relatively clear line of sight between the satellites and receivers on the ground, combined with ever-improving electronics, allows satellite navigation systems to measure location to accuracies on the order of a few meters in real time...

Dead Island Riptide Gameplay Walkthrough Part 6 - Natural Resources - Chapter 3

18:28
NEW Dead Island Riptide Gameplay Walkthrough Part 6 includes Chapter 3 of the Story for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. This Dead Island Riptide Gameplay Walkthrough will also a Review, all Characters and the Ending. Subscribe: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=theRadBrad Twitter: http://twitter.com//thaRadBrad Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/theRadBrad Dead Island Riptide (Dead Island 2) is the new installment in the franchise following Dead Island and being released on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. Dead Island Riptide picks up right where the original game left off, with the same four survivors, Sam B, Xian Mei, Logan Carter and Purna. Because of a tropical storm the chopper crashes. The crew land on a military ship where, due to a raging monsoon and the fact that our survivors are infected, an all-new zombie outbreak occurs onboard. This forces players to flee the ship or the ship runs aground (media reports are conflicting). The survivors end up on the island of Palanai in the South Pacific. Palanai includes the city of Henderson. Joining the four survivors from the last game is a fifth character, John Morgan. John is a Navy ship cook, however he trained himself in hand-to-hand combat. With invigorating new elements infused into a proven mix, Dead Island Riptide will reanimate the zombie terror in the original game. A monsoon has hit the once beautiful archipelago and heavy rainstorms have laid waste to large areas of the islands. The city of Henderson and jungle areas on the island of Palanai were flooded leaving boats as the only remaining way of transportation. Dynamic weather conditions will force the team members to adapt to changing visibility conditions. A fifth character will join the team, with an all-new and unique skill set. The combined skills of the group will be sorely needed, since terrible, new and unknown zombie mutations have emerged all over the island. In new Hub Defense missions the coop teamplay skills of the survivors will be tested to the limit -- they need to strategically place traps, fences and turrets to fend off oncoming Zombie onslaughts and to protect the humans in these sanctuaries. New communication features in coop mode also allow players to enjoy an even more intense and strategic team experience.

The #natural #beauty of paraguay. #Paraguay is a landlocked country in South America bordering Argentina, Bolivia, and Brazil. The country is rich in natural resources: the world's largest drinking water reservoir (Guarani Aquifer) is beneath its soil, the biggest hydroelectric producer. The Itaipú Dam is on its border with Brazil. It's also the world's fifth largest exporter of soya beans, as well as a renowned producer of beef. Despite this, it is one of the poorest countries in South America. As a result, it is very common to see beggars asking for money on Asuncion's corners. Water Cycle for Kids | #aumsum #kids #education #science #learn

02:08
Our topic for today is Water Cycle. The Sun heats up the water from oceans, lakes and rivers and water changes into water vapor by the process of evaporation. Plants also lose water in the form of water vapor from their leaves into the air by the process of transpiration. As the water vapor rises up into the air, it starts cooling down and forms tiny water droplets. These water droplets come together to form clouds. This process is called condensation. When the clouds start getting heavy and cannot hold the water droplets anymore, they fall back to the earth in the form of rain, hail or snow. This process is called precipitation. Some of the water that falls on the earth seeps into the ground. This water is available to us in the form of groundwater. The remaining water falls back into oceans, lakes, rivers and seas. This process is called collection. Then, the sun starts heating up this water once again. This circulation of water is called water cycle.
