Very important - 15:00 2018 Child Tax Care Credit Changes and Updates (Per HR&Block) Under the new Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) the following child tax credit changes will take place in 2018: • The Child Tax Credit under 2018 tax reform is worth up to $2,000 per qualifying child. The age cut-off remains at 17 (the child must be under 17 at the end of the year for taxpayers to claim the credit). • The refundable portion of the credit is limited to $1,400. This amount will be adjusted for inflation after 2018. • The earned income threshold for the refundable credit is lowered to $2,500. • The beginning credit phase out for the CTC increases to $200,000 ($400,000 for joint filers). The phase out also applies to the new family tax credit. • The child must have a valid SSN to claim the nonrefundable and refundable credit. Prior to the TCJA, the taxpayer who was eligible to claim the child’s dependent exemption was also the one eligible to claim the CTC. In turn, the taxpayer and child had to meet several “tests” for the one to be considered the dependent of the other. The TCJA eliminates the dependent exemption itself, but retains the definition of dependent to claim the CTC and other child- or dependent-related tax benefits. For Child Tax Credit reform purposes, this will usually mean that the child must be related to the taxpayer in one of several ways (son, daughter, grandchild, etc.), must live in the taxpayer’s home more than half the year, and must not provide more than half of his or her own support. Special rules apply if the parents are divorced or legally separated. As under previous law, strict due diligence requirements apply for tax professionals who prepare returns with the refundable Child Tax Credit during the 2018 tax year. All changes to the new Child Tax Credit expire after December 31, 2025. How tax breaks help the rich

The US has a problem with income inequality. The current tax code makes it worse. Correction: At 2:20, we say that the Glenstone Museum is only open for private tours. Check out http://www.vox.com to get up to speed on everything from Kurdistan to the Kim Kardashian app. The gap between the rich and the poor in America looks more like developing countries than other Western nations. Trump and the GOP have proposed tax plans that will give massive tax breaks to the wealthy while it remains unclear if the middle class will get a tax benefit. Deductions give a greater proportion of tax breaks to people with higher incomes. The same charitable contribution from two different incomes will benefit the higher wage earner, because deductions give tax breaks in proportion with tax brackets. Other countries have eliminated certain tax deductions in favor of tax credits. Credits give breaks in proportion to the amount you give, not the amount you owe. There are two kinds of income in the US. We tax wage income at a higher rate than income earned in stocks and bonds. That means people who get their income from capital gains and stock market interest pay fewer taxes than the same income of someone who works for a paycheck.

GST Input Tax Credit (ITC) Rules |Claim ITC on RCM ?और इन Expenses पर गलती से भी Input Credit ना ले

13:48
GST Input Tax Credit (ITC) Rules |Claim ITC on RCM ?और इन Expenses पर गलती से भी Input Credit ना ले What is input credit? Input credit means at the time of paying tax on output, you can reduce the tax you have already paid on inputs. How to Claim Input Tax credit ? To claim input credit under GST – You must have a tax invoice(of purchase) or debit note issued by registered dealer Note: Where goods are received in lots/installments, credit will be available against the tax invoice upon receipt of last lot or installment. You should have received the goods/services Note: Where recipient does not pay the value of service or tax thereon within 3 months of issue of invoice and he has already availed input credit based on the invoice, the said credit will be added to his output tax liability along with interest. The tax charged on your purchases has been deposited/paid to the government by the supplier in cash or via claiming input credit Supplier has filed GST returns Possibly the most path breaking reform of GST is that input credit is ONLY allowed if your supplier has deposited the tax he collected from you. So every input credit you are claiming shall be matched and validated before you can claim it. 3 Reasons Why You Should Not Pay Your Debt

01:13
Paying off an old collection or charge off will increase your credit score. This is a huge MYTH! Effects of Paying When you pay an older collection account or charge-off account, your credit score most likely will suffer. Think twice before paying off an old collection or charge off. By paying your debt, it renews the date of last activity. The collection company or creditors can now report the account for another 7 years. Everyone knows debt collections are bad for your credit score. Any past due accounts including debt collections have negative effects. These accounts report on your credit report for up to7 years. As accounts age, they have less and less impact on your credit score. Many consumers believe by paying off collections or charge-off accounts, that it will raise their credit scores. It certainly seems logical; however it is far from the truth. If you are concerned about your credit score, paying off debts prior to obtaining any other type of loan or mortgage can greatly hurt your credit score. Ultimately, if it is an older account when paid off (or payments are made on the account), by doing so can be devastating to ones credit score. The recent activity of any derogatory item has a big impact on how it effects your overall credit score. Is the Debt Still Valid? After a certain period of inactivity on an account, a debt becomes time-barred and debt collectors can no longer sue you for it. This period is known as "the statute of limitations on debt" and varies by state. If the statute of limitations has passed, it is illegal for a debt collector or creditor to sue you. You need to be careful in communicating with a debt collector because the debt statute of limitations can easily be restarted by acknowledging that you owe the debt, making a payment, entering a payment plan, making an agreement to pay or making a charge on the account. After 7 Years Collection and charge-off accounts should only remain on your credit report for 7 years. It is important to check your credit reports as the credit bureaus often continue reporting these derogatory accounts over the 7 year limit. If you have any questions regarding collection accounts on your credit reports, call our office today for your complimentary credit consultation. We look forward to hearing from you. 480-502-5554 LEGAL DISCLAIMER: The advice provided is for informational purposes only. It is not to be construed as Legal Counsel or Legal Advice.

Tax Benefits for Homeowners

03:19
"Tax Benefits for Homeowners" brought to you by Darin Bjerknes with Commonwealth Realty. Darin Bjerknes Commonwealth Realty [email protected] www.cwrealtymn.com It’s getting close to tax time and I wanted to go over the tax benefits for homeowners and first-time buyers. To start off, I’m not an accountant so if you’d like to know how some of these deductions apply to you, make sure to contact your tax professional. First, I’m going to give you a summary of the tax deductions because I know I may lose most of you with all of the tax jargon. Taxes just aren’t that interesting, unless you're an accountant :) The 5 most common tax deductions for homeowners are: 1. Mortgage Interest Paid, 2. Discount Points & Origination fees, 3. Property taxes, 4. Home Offices, 5. Private Mortgage Insurance or PMI. If you want to learn a bit more keep watching. Again, #1The most common Tax Deduction for Homeowners is: Mortgage Interest Paid - The interest you pay to your lender is tax deductible and is a great way to reduce your tax burden. Mortgage interest tax deductions are extended to second mortgages as well. Interest paid on a refinance loan, home equity loans, and home equity lines of credit are also tax-deductible. There are some restrictions here, so make sure to check with your accountant. Homeowners can deduct up to $1 million dollars of mortgage interest. #2 Discount Points and Origination Fees are also tax deductible when they are in connection with a home purchase or refinance. Discount points are fees that allow you to buy down your interest rate, therefore lowering your monthly payment. One discount point costs 1% of borrower’s loan amount. When discount points are paid in conjunction with a purchase, the cost may be deducted in full in the year in which they were paid, dollar-for-dollar. With respect to a refinance, discount points are not fully tax-deductible in the year in which they are paid. With a refinance, discount points are typically amortized over the life of the loan. The term "origination fees" refers to any expenses you pay to the lender to compensate him or her for providing the loan. Most lenders charge a basic origination fee equal to a certain percentage of the loan balance. #3. Property Taxes. Homeowners typically pay real estate taxes to local and state entities. These property taxes can often be deducted in the year in which they are paid. If your mortgage lender currently escrows your taxes and insurance, it will send an annual statement to you which you can file with your complete federal tax returns. Your accountant can help determine the payment's tax deductibility. #4. Home Offices. Homeowners who work from their residence can typically deduct the expenses of maintaining a qualified home office. Allowable tax deductions for a home office include renovations to the room(s), telephone lines, and the cost of heat and electric. You can typically deduct your office sq.ft. from the rest of your home. Before claiming a home office on your returns, though, be sure to speak with an accountant to understand the benefits and liabilities. #5. Private Mortgage Interest or PMI. This is something you typically pay for if you don’t make 20% down payment when you purchase. The PMI is a policy that is taken out by the homebuyer to protect the lender against possible default on the mortgage loan. You may be eligible to claim the deduction for PMI on your tax return. However, if your adjusted gross income is over $100,000 you may not be able to deduct it. A side not on the PMI Deduction, as of right now this will be going away starting in 2016. Again talk to you tax professional. :) If you purchased a home this past year, make sure to give your accountant the settlement statement you received at closing. He or she will be able to determine what you can deduct from the purchase. As with the PMI deduction going away, Homeowner tax deductions are continuously changing. It’s always a great idea to ask your accountant to see what deductions apply to you and your situation.

HMRC REFUSE TO DEAL WITH CASES - Tax Credits chaos. HMRC shut - UNCONTACTABLE.

04:11
It is like the HMRC are shut for some purposes. Tax Credits is a mess. Mandatory Reconsideration has rules it is meant to abide by, by the timely processing has gone out the window. It is very like someone has lost interest in it, and is hoping it will all be replaced by something else. Of course, that is what is meant to be happening. The telephone menu system basically catches you out, then unceremoniously hangs up. I have tried very hard these last 3 months to deal with the HMRC - Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs. But, you fill in forms online for 45 minutes, then when you try to 'submit' this, they crash, tell you to pointlessly call somebody or other (tech suppport). Telephoning, they have a highly complex menu system designed to block you getting through. Essentially, THE HMRC ARE CLOSED. The drawbridge is up, the portcullis is down, the moat is filled to the brim. Every step is managing to reduce your chances of dealing with your case in the allotted timescale, at every time you attempt contact. I will now have to send screenshots of the form I filled in - usually systems SAVE as you go along, you can login later to complete the task - NOT with HMRC. They use a private contractor Concentrix, based in Brighton for us, it's as far as they can get without going into the English Channel. Operation stack part II. Shocking, head in the sand job. I literally can't talk to the taxman, he does not want to know.

How Do I Pay Myself in a Single-Member LLC? - All Up In Yo' Business

08:48
Learn more about 180 Law Co. LLC by visiting http://180lawco.com. One question that I get asked quite often, because it’s a really good question, is how the owner of a single-member LLC is supposed to pay him/herself. There are two possible answers to this question, depending on how the LLC is taxed. Unless the LLC elects otherwise, a single-member LLC is considered a “disregarded entity” and all of the income to the LLC is treated as income to the business owner, and is all subject to self-employment tax. So basically, the owner of a single-member LLC can pay himself however and whenever he wants, keeping in mind a few important considerations: 1. Make sure you are prepared to pay taxes. Since the LLC is a disregarded entity, if the business earns $100k but you only “pay” yourself $50k, you are still going to be responsible for paying all of the taxes, including self-employment taxes, on the full $100k. (For simplicity’s sake, I am pretending there are no deductions or anything.) So you need to set aside enough money to make sure you can cover your taxes. 2. The business has to remain adequately capitalized. This means that you need to keep enough money in the business to cover all your overhead, debts, bills, salary for employees, etc. You should also leave some extra “padding” for possibly building up your business, purchasing equipment, and whatever else you may decide to do with your business. In the books, any payments to yourself should be recorded as “Member Distribution” or “Member Withdrawal.” If the LLC elects to be taxed as an S Corporation, on the other hand, you have to be paid a “reasonable” salary. Self-employment taxes will only be paid on that salary rather than on the full amount of profit the business earns. Any money that the business owner takes above that reasonable salary is considered a dividend and won’t be subject to self-employment taxes. To learn more about S Corporations, watch my earlier video What the Heck is an S Corporation at http://youtu.be/i5to7Da3wMw?list=UUNh7tqEn68tf0oOfq4NsFsg If your LLC is not taxed as an S Corp, you don’t need to put yourself on payroll, since those member distributions aren’t treated as normal payroll. If your LLC is taxed as an S Corp, then the salary you earn can be part of your payroll, and any additional dividends will be separate from that. Whether or not you elect to have your LLC taxed as an S Corp and how to handle and record the money that you pay yourself is an important conversation that should be had with your accountant, bookkeeper, & attorney. Doing it the “right” way can help minimize your tax liability and can make your life (and that of your accountant) much easier come tax time. Contact Aiden and learn more at www.180lawco.com. HOW TO BEAT COUNCIL TAX INTO THE GROUND - ask what the formula is.

10:36
via YouTube Capture 14th January 2016. COUNCIL TAX is the bane of many ordinary people's existence. Non-payment results in threats, fines, Court appearances and attendant charges the Council makes for the 'inconvenience' of threatening you, and of course Debt collectors (Sheriff's Officers in Scotland). It turns out, it relies heavily on keeping the public ignorant of its inner workings. It is fickle, and it turns out COMPLETELY SECRET. Once you peel back the superficial confidence trick the Council Tax Department is the one on the back foot. Why is the formula kept secret? What does the computer calculate that is impossible to tell us? Nonsense of course. Transparency means challenges, and the Council can do without that. They basically have the starting point, the full Council Tax price. Then they make calculations allegedly that accurately rate how much discount you are able to be given, if any. However, these things used to be done by Central Government. Properly, if not fairly. Now, each and every local Council has to concoct its own cockamamie system, to calculate what discount if any an individual household is due. To do this, they tap into the HMRC system, who in turn rely on a very dodgy bunch of contractors called CONCENTRIX (EDIT - Now debunked/sacked for the 2017/18 year onwards - but HMRC took on many of the staff, some attitudes they've 'imported' it seems!) based in Brighton, in order to calculate all the basic numbers to do with any income, tax due, self-employment, NI (another tax!) and of course Tax Credits in the UK, a welfare benefit of sorts, depending on who you talk to. The first step, is to establish what the calculations are that the Council purport is done by the IT system they have cooked up. What inputs are there IE what are the names of all the things, the different components that they take into account. Now, what are the numbers in your particular household's case? You request all of this, as outlined above, in writing. Then, when they refuse, you ask why you are not allowed to know or to check the system of calculation - the formula - they are using. Tell them that as you do not have access to a suitable IT system, and as you need to understand what is being done, you need to know how to manually do the sums. The people you talk to in Council Tax departments up and down the UK, will simply not know. All they know is, they do a series of computerised tasks - blind basically - and the system spits out an answer. They may or may not 'adjust' this answer later - thereby making a joke of the entire process, but hey let's not complicate matters! Keep going - tell them you are surely entitled to be able to check their calculations for yourself - in other words YOU NEED TO SEE THEIR 'WORKING OUT' AS TEACHERS USED TO CALL IT. If they do not produce this, and they will kick scream and threaten you so they don't have to, you point out the VAT example - you would not be expected to pay a hidden tax you did not know the reasoning and the method of working out. This Council Tax is no different. Once quite a few people have extracted this from their local Councils, we will see they all do it similarly but differently - that is when the whole thing will crack open like a crime egg Sorry, a creme egg. Don't get ground down, at the least this will make them realise how secretive they really are. . .
