Dividend Stocks – Can You Buy Stock Just For The Dividend? - Show #062

22:45
http://optionalpha.com/show62 - At least 2-3 times per week I’ll get an email from someone along these lines; “Kirk, why can’t we just buy the best dividend stocks right before the company pays the dividend, and then sell the stock the next day and keep the profit?” Seems like a cool idea, and I’ve definitely seen many smaller blogs peddling this idea to investors, but it might easier said than done. In today’s show I’ll help you understand the four most important dates you need to know when it comes to dividend investing, including a complete rundown of the fictional arbitrage opportunity that dividend investors are continuously searching for during the ex-dividend date. Plus, I’ll give you an alternative strategy for purchasing the stock at a discount, while reducing your tax liability, as well as the impact of dividend payments on options pricing. If you’ve got a friend or trading buddy who hasn’t made the jump to options yet and is still cashing “dividend stocks” and “dividend strategies” then this show might be the kick in the butt they need to start options trading. And of course, if you’d share it with them I’d be incredibly thankful! ================== Listen to our #1 rated investing podcast on iTunes: http://optionalpha.com/podcast ================== Download your free copy of the "The Ultimate Options Strategy Guide" including the top 18 strategies we use each month to generate consistent income: http://optionalpha.com/ebook ================== Grab your free "7-Step Entry Checklist" PDF download today. Dividend Yield Explained

04:54
This video will teach you what dividend yield is, how to calculate it and why it's important. Dividend yield is the dividend, relative to the price of the investment. What are dividends? Check out the previous video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8s_8O99dNC0 Twitter: https://twitter.com/MrSoniBros Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mrsonibros Didn't hear me properly? This is what I was saying: Today we're going to be learning what dividend yield is. We already know what a dividend is from the previous video, now we just need to know the yield part. If you don't know what a dividend is, just click on the word dividend to watch the previous video, and then come back to this video. Let's use the hypothetical company from the last video, Soni's Shawarma. Soni's Shawarma is a restaurant chain that has thousands of restaurants across the country, and obviously, sells shawarmas. Soni's Shawarma pays a quarterly dividend of $0.25. Which means in a year, it pays a total dividend of a dollar, since 25 cents every 3 months adds up to a dollar every year. So we know how much Soni's Shawarma pays in dividends for every share that we own, but we don't know how much it costs to buy one share of Soni's Shawarma. What if I told you that one share of Soni's Shawarma costs $1000. Yes, $1000 to buy 1 share of Soni's Shawarma, and it only pays us one dollar in dividends every year. What if I told you that one share of Soni's Shawarma costs only $20. $20 for one share, and it pays us one dollar in dividends every year. Which one would you rather pick? I would pick the $20 share that pays me $1, instead of the $1000 dollar share that pays me $1. Why, because it has a greater yield! Yield is simply the dividends we get, relative to the price of the share. That's not a dictionary definition, it's my definition for this case. So now let's calculate the yield of these two options, let's start with the $1000 share. If one share of Soni's Shawarma costs $1000 and In one year, it gives us one dollar, the annual dividend is one dollar. So to calculate the yield, we need to take the dividend, and divide it by the price. So the dividend of one dollar, divided by the price of $1000, equals 0.001, which can also be expressed as 0.1%. So the dividend yield in this case is 0.1%. Now let's move on to the next case. If one share of Soni's Shawarma costs $20 and in one year, it gives us one dollar, the annual dividend is one dollar. Just like before, to calculate the yield, we take the dividend and divide it by the price. So the dividend which is one dollar, divided by the price, which is $20, equals 0.05, which is another way of saying 5%. So that's dividend yield, the dividend relative to the price. The $20 share has a yield of 5%, that means I'll be getting 5% of the money I paid every year. It means 5% of the price, will be paid to me in dividends. With the $1000 share which has a yield of 0.1%, it means I'll be getting 0.1% of the money I paid, every year. It means 0.1% of the price, will be paid to me in dividends. So which one would you rather pick? Would you rather have your dividends equal 5% of the price you paid, or would you rather have them equal only 0.1% of the price you paid. I would rather have them equal 5% of the price I paid, because I get more money relative to the price I paid. If we're only looking at dividends, paying $20 to get an annual dividend of $1, is better than paying $1000 to get that same annual dividend of $1. Remember, stock prices change every day, so that means, dividend yield will also change every day. If its $20 to buy a share that has an annual dividend of $1, it has a yield of 5%. If tomorrow, the price of that same share goes up to $21, then we divide 1 by 21 to get a yield of 4.76%. So as prices change, so does the yield, as dividends change, so does the yield. So now you know what dividend yield is, how to calculate it, and why it's important. If you liked this video, please make sure to hit that subscribe button. Thank you.

That 4% yield is going nowhere. I would keep an eye on it to monitor the next few dividend increases as this could become attractive. Ranking 3/5 B: They avec an overshot dividend and can’t keep this up. They have been (rightfully so) cutting on their dividend increases recently. Not interesting at all. This dividend should be cut big time. Ranking 5/5 C: The big winner! Everything is looking quite good here. Good yield, room to grow, a decent 6.4 average growth and a good momentum! Ranking 1/5 D: Everything looks good here, except that low yield. But, it is going in the right direction with a plump 13.6 average increase. This would be my second bet. Ranking 2/5 E: There could be reason for caution here even if it’s not much. The marginally high payout ratio and the decreasing momentum could mean this stock has been suffering in the recent years. There are better choices here in my opinion. Ranking 4/5

I've come a long way since then; however, if you are new to the markets, perhaps you have no idea what a dividend is. Essentially it is simply just a "thank you" card from a company, with some cash. High Dividend Stocks - The Real Story in HINDI

26:35
High Dividend Stocks fascinates a lot of retail investors especially senior citizens or the investors who are looking for a regular source of income. The marketing or USP of High Dividend Stocks revolve around these two factors. If you feel that High Dividend Stocks are only beneficial for retail investors then you are mistaken. It also helps the promoters to pocket the profit. It also shows the low business confidence thus hamper the growth of the company in future. In many instances where the stock is in the list of High Dividend Stocks, the company does not find any future growth opportunities. Therefore, the dividend is the easiest way to pocket the profit and also distribute among investors. It keeps retail investors in good humor and retains their interest in the stock. If you are long term investor then you should think twice and lay more emphasis on the companies performance rather only on the dividend. This video on High Dividend Stocks - The Real Story discusses all the hidden factors in detail. If you liked this video, You can "Subscribe" to my YouTube Channel. Mutual Funds: Growth vs Dividend option | Investment Tips by Yadnya

04:54
Here is the updated video with the impact of the LTCG Tax in 2018: https://youtu.be/csS_Y-rGwAo “Should I go for growth option or take out the dividends in my fund?” – is a question frequently asked, when venturing into mutual fund investments. The choice between these 2 options should primarily be driven by your cash flow requirements. If you do not have any periodic liquidity needs, you may choose the growth option. The returns in the growth option will be reflected in the movement of the scheme’s NAV. On the contrary, if you need regular cash flows from your investments, then choose the dividend option. However, please note that dividend payment is not assured and there may not be any dividends if the fund fails to generate any surpluses. As far as the tax treatment is concerned, dividends are tax free in the hands of the investor but the Mutual Fund Company deducts a dividend distribution tax (DDT) on behalf of the investor and passes it onto the government. Tax Information for Stock Market Investors | Stocks, Options, and Dividends

10:36
Tax Information for Stock Market Investors | Stocks, Options, and Dividends In this video, I will provide the tax information and how you get more knowledges about taxes. I made the video on several parts and the first part is about stock taxes and the rules about it. One of the other parts include option taxes and I explain as well that information. Lastly, the last thing is about dividend taxes and even though it might seem simple, it becomes a little complicated. The video Is about taxes for investors and I explained some confusion they might had. Basically, the video is about tax basics and some of the advantages. Taxes on stock were explained regarding the long and short term investments. You can start managing individually the stocks and taxes and make strategic moves. In addition, taxes on option work very much the same way. For example with taxes and option you can make the same transactions and get the same result. Now for taxes on dividend is a little bit different. The reason is that taxes and dividends play different since dividends are paid on certain dates. So, I ended up covering most of the tax basic for stock market investors and how you can maximize your profits. I also gave several examples regarding short term capital gain. Also, I provided some examples on long term capital gain. I also covered the obscure topic of qualified dividend and what makes you qualify for that. Rules are important. That is one of the reason why I gave the wash sale rule since the IRS implemented that rule to avoid tax holes. At the end of the video, I gave several tax tips for individual investors about the stocks, options and dividends. I also mentioned several tax deferred plans and programs you might get some tax breaks. Make sure that you shares this video Tax information for stock market investors if you found it helpful, I’d appreciate it. How To Boost Your Dividend Income Using Covered Calls: The Step-by-Step Guide

10:06
The end goal of many dividend investors is to generate enough portfolio income to cover their living expenses. There are two ways to reach this goal faster: have a larger portfolio or generate a higher portfolio yield. In today’s video, I’m going to explain how you can generate higher portfolio income by implementing a covered call option strategy. This video talks about: - What is a covered call options strategy? - How to select which covered calls to sell - Covered call example #1: AT&T (T) - Covered call example #2: Microsoft (MSFT) - Covered call example #3: Facebook (FB) To understand what a covered call options strategy is, you need to have a fundamental understanding of stock options. Here’s the formal definition of a stock option. A stock option is a contract between two parties in which the stock option buyer purchases the right (but not the obligation) to buy/sell 100 shares of an underlying stock at a predetermined price (called wwthe strike price) from/to the option seller within a fixed period of time. If the contract allows the optionholder to buy the security, it is a call option. If the contract allows the optionholder to sell the security, it is a put option. Each stock option corresponds to 100 shares of the associated security, which is called the “underlying.” This is a very important concept to understand, and makes the covered call strategy unsuitable for investors that have only small amounts of capital invested in the stock market. In a covered call options strategy, you sell a call option for a security that you already own at least 100 shares of. WARREN BUFFETT- DON'T MAKE THIS TERRIBLE MISTAKE

03:06
Wow! Did you just feel the bomb dropped on you? That was probably the most mind blowing 60 seconds of knowledge that I've ever heard. I don't need superlatives to describe Buffett or his knowledge, as that has been done a million times. However, I never cease to be amazed at the simplicity behind his advice, yet how wise and timeless it truly is. We, as stock investors, sometimes get caught up in the day-to-day gyrations of the market and it's almost hypnotic swings back and forth. You see capital gains dangled in front of you and you see years of dividends that can be captured immediately - and all rational thought gets thrown out the window. The stock market is unique. You may own many assets. You may own your own home, have a paid-off car, maybe some artwork or some farmland. But these items don't have live streaming quotes that parade in front of you Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. eastern standard time. So, you continue to live in the home you're in until it no longer fits your needs, your artwork stays neatly hung up above your mantle and your car continues to get you to and from your work and other daily tasks. Irrational exuberance is hard to replicate when you don't have instant access to buy and sell these items.

Dividends are Great, but Avoid High Yields | Trading Data Science

15:49
Over the last 20 years, approximately 50% of the S&P 500’s returns came from dividends and not capital appreciation. Dr. Data (Michael Rechenthin, PhD) provides evidence that shows a sound strategy to buy dividend stocks and sell implied volatility out-of-the-money (OTM) calls against the position (which reduces cost basis), but stocks with high dividend yields should be approached with caution. A graph of the dividend yield of the S&P 500 dividend paying stocks (80% of the index components) was displayed. The graph included a note that 50 of the dividend stocks yielded greater than 4%, and one (WMB) pays a yield of 16%. A graph comparing dividend yield versus market capitalization on the S&P 500 was displayed. The graph showed that the more stable companies don't have the largest dividend yields and that the stocks that did have high yields had them because their stock price dropped, sometimes by a lot. When you pick high dividend stocks, such as ones more than 4%, you may just end up picking stocks that are underperforming. ======== tastytrade.com ======== Finally a financial network for traders, built by traders. Dividends

07:12
Dividends allow you to invest for passive income. In this video I talk about what dividends are, why companies pay them out to shareholders, the pros and cons and at the end I give out 4 great dividend stocks to put on your watch list. Dividends are a great way to earn consistent income. Companies pay them out to their shareholders on a quarterly basis, but it can also be paid out monthly, semi annual or annually. When you receive a dividend it is either deposited into your cash account or it is reinvested to buy more whole or fractional shares. This is also called the dividend reinvestment plan (DRIP). The ultimate goal of a dividend strategy is receive payments that meet or exceed your earned income. It is at this moment that you can retire and live off your income, without ever having to sell the underlying stocks. It's also important that this passive income source grows faster than inflation in order to maintain your buying power. Do you need $1 million to start investing in these stocks? Of course not, you can start by just buying one or two shares in dividend paying companies. However, it will help you have more money to start out investing, because you'll et more in dividend income. The more share you own the more income you will end up generating. For example, the Coca Cola company pays out 37 cents in quarterly dividend, which adds up to $1.48 for the year. That's also the amount you would receive if you just owned one share. But if you owned 100 shares, you would receive $148 for the year. In order to see your dividends make an impact, there are three things to take into account. Number one: you should buy dividend stocks on a consistent basis. Two: the dividends you receive need to be reinvested or used to buy other companies that pay you passive income. Three: the companies you invest in need to grow their earnings yearly. This allows the board of directors to increase their dividend payment faster than inflation. These three factors will snowball the cash you receive. Companies that pay dividends are usually blue chip companies. These are well established and large companies. They tend to not experience a ton of growth which also reflects in their stock price, with a limited capital gain. Many of these blue chip companies generate a ton of cash for their shareholders, which a portion of this is distributed out to the shareholders. They have demanded these dividends from the companies as a repayment for investing and believing in the company. But leadership also benefits from dividend income, because they get awarded stock options and shares. Also, keep in mind that only companies in their maturity stage pay out cash dividends to their shareholders. The pros to investing in dividends are: stability and consistency, more so than capital gains. You also benefit from both the cash payment and an increase in the share price on the stock market. These companies are also seen as being more stable, so during a stock market crash, many investors tend to sell their overpriced P/E shares and flock to more stable stocks and bonds. Another advantage is that you can plan out your dividend income for into the future because of their consistency. This is not something you can do with the risky capital gains. Some of the cons to dividend investing are: companies that pay out a dividend tend to appreciate slower on the stock exchange. They can also cut or stop paying a dividend and some don't grow their dividends at all. It is therefore important only to invest in great dividend paying companies who not only pay a healthy passive income, but also have the financial capabilities to grow these dividend payments yearly. Best Dividend Stocks to Invest in 2018

10:18
What are the 10 Best Dividend Stocks for an Investment in 2018? These 10 stock picks are dividend stocks for 2018 that are critical for investors looking for dividends for their portfolio. The purpose today is to go over 10 stocks (and a bonus stock - so 11 total!) that you could consider as part of a dividend play in your portfolio. All 10 of these picks provide a yield of over 2% and I feel that for most cases you should strive for over 2% yield if your strategy is dividends. Anything below that is typically not worth it, unless a company is expected to raise dividends soon. You may be better off looking at some banks that offers GICs and such which usually guarantees a yield less than 2% if that's the route you want to go for less than 2% plays. So coming in at #10 is a drink everyone has heard of (and most likely tried before) - KO -Coca Cola is one of Buffets long term holds, and its a solid company -Provides stability and diversity in your portfolio -KO provides a 3.02% yield In at #9 is one of the dominant players in semiconductors that is most likely powering your computer - INTC -Strong company, stable growth and performance YoY -They bring in a 2.31% yield which is impressive seeing as this company will probably keep growing in the near future #8 was the #1 performer in the DOW in 2017 up over 89% and providing an excellent dividend - and that's BA -Aerospace company that again provides exposure to a different sector outside tech -Brings in a dividend of 2.07% #7 is a company that is widely used, but not many people talk about - MMM -If you've ever had to tape something, you've most likely used a 3M product -This is a very underrated stock and it had an incredible 2017 as well -3M gives us a 2.32% yield and is one of the safer plays out there as they are so dominant in their space Planning a home renovation? Chances are you will drop by a HD - which is my #6 pick -ANother stock that had an incredibly 2017, and with home sales doing well, this will continue doing well -HD gives us a 2.32% dividend #5 is a company I've talked about investing in before - JNJ -They are big in the healthcare space, but my only concern right now is AMZN entering this space -Nonetheless, they still provide a solid dividend at 2.54% Can I have fries with that? MCD is my #4 pick -This is a stock I personally hold in my portfolio for the safety and dividends, but I also believe they will have good growth in 2018 and 2019 -They have made advancements using technology and apps to increase sales and I believe that will show in their profits and revenue -MCD gives us a 2.55% dividend #3 is a company that typically partners with MCD, at least here in Canada, and was a top pick for 2018 by me - WMT -The only true company IMO that can compete with AMZN -They are making advancements with online shopping, and AMZN really needs a #2 competitor and I believe that is WMT -WMT gives us a 2.37% dividend yield as well #2 is a company that profits from our garbage - WM -Well run company with great growth -They provide a 2.15% dividends Finally, #1 on the list is a company that continues to benefit from the strong economy - CAT -Dominant player in their space, and I don't see that changing anytime soon -Along with good growth, it gives us a 2.05% growth Here is a summary: 1) CAT - 2.05% 2) WM - 2.15% 3) WMT - 2.37% 4) MCD - 2.55% 5) JNJ - 2.54% 6) HD - 2.32% 7) MMM - 2.32% 8) BA - 2.07% 9) INTC - 2.31% 10) KO - 3.02% So that's my top 10. As a bonus, I included another stock - AAPL. They currently only pay a 1.41% yield, but investors are expecting this to go up significantly over the coming years as iPhone sales slow down. Apple's true future business isn't the iPhone - it's services and cloud - and as they rake in BILLIONS in profits here, they will most likely raise their dividend over the years. So now I turn it over to you - what are some dividend plays that you think are a must-have in a portfolio? I know there are TONS of other's other there ($PFE, $VZ, etc.) so I'd like to see some discussion here. Thank you for watching! Pay Off Your Mortgage Early? No Way! (Dividend Stocks Are Better)

09:12
A lot of the financial experts out there suggest that one should pay off their mortgage early. They share strategies for making extra mortgage payments (including bi-weekly mortgage payments), reducing the number of years in one's mortgage loan. I completely disagree with the experts out there, and want to propose a contrarian opinion on the topic. As a homeowner myself, I think it makes no sense to pay off one's mortgage early. All investors have a finite amount of money. And, I look at everything in life as an investment. If I have two options: (A) pay off part of my mortgage early or (B) invest in dividend growth stocks, I always end up picking Option B. Why? It makes more financial sense. It's a better investment and a better use of capital. In today's video, I explore this topic in depth. I share real numbers that prove dividend stocks are a superior investment as compared to paying off a mortgage early (or making extra bi-weekly mortgage payments). Even more than dividend stocks being a better use of capital, they also provide more flexibility should times get though. They provide real dollars (cash flow) that can fund living expenses. Once one makes an extra mortgage payment, that money is gone and is difficult to tap into. At the end of the day, the meta level message here is to question everything you hear. The experts may not be right. Today's video is one of unconventional wisdom. Learn why dividend growth stocks and passive income are game-changers. Understanding Dividend Capture Strategies: Trading Around Dividend Dates

11:24
Compare income investing tools: http://www.informedtrades.com/f189/ Trade in income stocks using Scottrade: http://bit.ly/scottrade-IT1A Key Points: 1. To understand dividend capture strategies, the basics of how dividends are issued must first be understood. There are X components to how dividends are issued: a. Announcement Date: When the dividend is announced, which includes the amount of the dividend and the anticipated payout date. b. Ex-Dividend Date: This is the date on which the stock trades without its dividend. To earn the dividend, the trader/investor must be the registered owner on the day before the ex-dividend date. c. Record Date: When the list of shareholders who will recieve the dividend is determined. This is typically two dates after the ex-dividend date, and records the list of owners on the day before the ex-dividend date. d. Payout Date: The date that the dividend is paid to investors. 2. Special Dividends are dividends with a yield of 25% or more (meaning the dividend per share is at least 25% of the share price). Special dividends have a different protocol for determining who is eligible for the dividend; they typically involve a different sequence of events, like so: a. Dividend is announced b. Dividend record date occurs c. Dividend is paid out d. Stock begins to trade ex-dividend If a shareholder sells a stock after the record date but before payout date, he/she may be required to return the dividend. As such, for traders/investors who wish to capture special dividends, they should hold it all the way up until the ex-dividend date. 3. Dividend capture strategies involve buying a stock just to capture its dividend, then selling it and moving on to the next dividend capture opportunity. 4. Typically, dividend capture strategies are difficult because of commissions, and because of the higher tax rate in many jurisdictions associated with holding dividend stocks for a short amount of time. 5. For a dividend capture strategy to work, the difference between the price of the stock when the trader buys it on the day before the ex-dividend date and price the trader sells at (which will be the ex-dividend price of the stock) should be less than the net dividend the trader earns. Typically stocks fall by the amount of the dividend per share on the ex-dividend date.

01:32:50
This is a long webinar, but it covers a lot of useful information that can be traded or applied to your trading right now! In this archive from our Friday Open Forum we cover: 1. 3 Core Principles of any options trade (start - 15 minute mark) A customer asked a question about the 'REDLine' term in RadioActive Trading (Time Decay Line). We illustrate this principle, and the other Core principles to illustrate which options an investor should buy or sell. 2. How to play earnings to take advantage of high Implied volatility (15 minutes to 34 minute mark) Here we look at why selling premium ahead of earnings, because premiums are increased, might not be what you really want. We look at different earnings plays, and how some of those strategies are not what you want... 3. Using PowerOptions patented search to find High Dividend Stocks and Stock Breakouts. (34 minute mark to 54 minute mark) We illustrate how to use the Search criteria for stocks that pay a high dividend, and using some of our Technical criteria such as Bollinger Bands and MACD - how to potentially identify stocks that might surge...before they surge. 4. Is it good to 'follow the crowd' for options trading (54:15 mark to 1 hour, 1 minute mark) Investor asks about following unusual option volume seen on CNBC, where the trade did not work. We look at option volume, change in volume, what it might mean and why it might not be a good idea to follow the crowd. 5. More on earnings and implied volatility (1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 17 minutes) We delve deeper into the idea of high implied volatility heading into earnings, using AAPL as an example. We look at how to evaluate IV crush and the profit and loss chart you want for earnings. 6. Can you make a living trading (1 hour 17 minutes to 1 hour 19 minutes) A quick one. What you should expect investing in options, how much capital you might need to make a living trading options, and realistic expectations vs. what is over hyped. 7. Personal question - why do I trade other strategies than married puts / RadioActive positions (1 hour 19 minutes to 1 hour 21 minutes) 8. How can investors lose on spreads that have an 80% probability (1 hour 24 minute mark to end) We look at the math behind high probability spreads, and how even with a portfolio of an 80% probability - you still need to be right closer to 90% of the time to profit long term.

How to Live Off Stocks - 6 Higher Return Strategies

07:48
Get my Investing Basics eBook here: http://financialwoman.com/bricks-investing-ebook =================================================== As a financial author and wealth coach I, Camille Gaines, will explain that Investment income from stocks comes from dividends as you may have seen in my other video. With the dividend yield under 2%, income investors are seeking ways to get higher income from stocks. In this video I’ll share strategies for getting higher passive stock income from dividend investing, while pointing out that I am not recommending any of them, and I am somewhat reluctant to record this since we are in yr 9 of a strong bull stock market as I record this. You’ll want to understand the cycles and risks involved in the stock market before investing. I only share what I have done or learned from investing from the past 3 decades, not financial advice. 1. REIT’s are bought and sold like stocks but are special types of funds. REIT’s invest in real estate and allow the public to invest. 2. MLP’s are also bought and sold like stocks but are partnerships that invest in oil related of businesses. Both REIT’s and MLP’s have higher yields than the stock market in general. 3. Stocks that are considered riskier also pay higher dividend yields. For example, AT&T yields over 5% now. 4. There are 2 main types of dividends, common and preferred. There are several differences but one major difference you’ll want to know is that Preferred dividends get paid before common dividends if the company has to stop paying dividends due to problems, even though they often pay more dividends than common stocks. 5. Call options – Sometimes investors, and a lot of fund managers, sell call options to increase the investment income from stocks. A few financial advisors sell call options for their clients, but it’s a lot of extra work since they have multiple clients and managing covered calls for many clients can be a lot of work. It’s not hard for individuals to manage covered calls in their own account since it is one account. CC’s can add 6 to up to 30% a year or more in income. In general, covered calls work best in bull stock markets. 6. Certain funds, financial advisors and wealth managers have strategies that are focused on income more than an increase in value. These funds may use leverage, or may invest in riskier stocks, MLP’s, REIT’s or a combination of these investment income strategies. One thing to remember is that when we enter into a stock bar market, the value of most stocks drop. Sometimes stocks that pay dividends don’t drop as much, however. It’s always important to know your stock drop factor, as I explain in another video. Unfortunately, you can’t get much passive income from stocks right now since interest rates are so low. This is what led us to create income streams from different sources so we could maintain our standard of living, and even retire early. Help me Inspire Others to Live Rich in Retirement by: 1. Mutual Funds: Growth vs Dividend Re Investment option | Investment Tips by Yadnya

07:15
When investing in a mutual fund (MF), we need to choose between the dividend and growth options. Under the dividend option, you have two choices—dividend payout and dividend reinvestment. Getting dividends in hand is fine, but what’s the purpose of having a dividend reinvestment option when you have a growth option already? As it turns out, both these options do the same thing, but one is more tax efficient than the other, depending on what you choose and how long you stay invested. Tax policy and tax policy alone should dictate the choice of Dividend Reinvestment option. There is simply no other criterion. For detail calculations and example, please watch the video. Please remember this (Source: Freefincal.com) If you are unsure of when you will redeem, choose the growth and be done with it. If the sum you are going to invest is not too huge, choose the growth and be done with it. If you are planning a SIP, choose the growth and be done with it. If you still do not understand the difference, choose growth Find us on Social Media and stay connected: Facebook Page - https://www.facebook.com/yadnyaacademy/?fref=ts Facebook Group - https://goo.gl/y57Qcr Twitter - https://mobile.twitter.com/investyadnya
Skip Your Bank! These 7 Options Will Make You MUCH More Money.

17:49
Let’s see if this sounds familiar….you have some money sitting in a savings account and it is probably making next to nothing. If you are not really sure what to do, you have several options. 🤔 You can go to a bank and stick it in a savings or money market account, chances are they are not going to pay you anything. If there were, you wouldn’t be watching this video. With that in mind, I want to talk about 7 alternatives to placing you savings into a bank. 🏦 I am also going to share a client story with you about where a client was keeping his cash. (You won’t believe where he was keeping it or how much he was keeping there!) So let's dive right into your options: ➡️ Online savings [1:10] - Any sort of online savings or bank account (just make sure they have FDIC). They have a lot less overhead than traditional brick and mortar - this could mean higher interest rates. ➡️ US Treasuries (TBills) [3:54] - It may seem a little old school - but you can do all of this online. ➡️ High Dividend Stocks [4:42] - This is a little higher risk and not somewhere you want short-term money. Just because a stock pays a dividend doesn’t mean it won’t drop in value. ➡️ Bonds [6:27] - You are most likely not going to buy individual bonds, but rather bond mutual funds. I would suggest ETFs, just remember higher yield = higher risk. ➡️ Blended Portfolio [9:30] - This would be a mix of stocks and bonds, and utilizing ETFs to get this blend. You can utilize a platform like Betterment or Wealthfront. 🤯 Before we get to the last two, I want to tell you about this client ...he had $140,000 in a safe in his basement. I can’t remember how long he had this cash sitting there, but I thought it was crazy. Sitting there, making nothing for him. This is an option that you DO NOT pick.🤯 ➡️ Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) [12:14] - This is a way to invest in real estate without managing properties. You can buy these many different ways, the simplest is to buy a REIT ETF. Another is online real estate investing, my favorite platform for this is Fundrise. ➡️ Peer-To-Peer Lending [14:25] - This allows YOU to be the bank. You are lending money to other peers. The great thing is, you can see their reasons for borrowing. This allows you to set your risk level. That is my top 7 alternatives to bank accounts. You can pick as many or as few of these options as you like. I just wanted to share that there is more than one way to invest and earn interest. Which options sounds the most attractive to you? Are you already using one or more of these options? Let us know how this is going for you. ★☆★Resources Mentioned in Video★☆★ 📉 https://www.goodfinancialcents.com/resources/fundrise-youtube-invest-500.php 📉https://www.goodfinancialcents.com/resources/lendingclubinv-youtube-get-started-with-lc.php 📈 https://www.goodfinancialcents.com/resources/betterment-youtube-invest-500.php 📉 https://www.goodfinancialcents.com/resources/ally-youtube-invest-500.php 📉 https://www.goodfinancialcents.com/resources/etrade-youtube-invest-500.php ★☆★ Want More Good Financial Cents? ★☆★ 💻 Check out my blog here: https://www.goodfinancialcents.com/ Listen to my podcast here: 🎙 https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/good-financial-cents-podcast-investing-building-wealth/id775107294?mt=2 Pick up my best selling book, Soldier of Finance, here: 📗 http://amzn.to/2xOH78V Connect with me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/jjeffrose My most favorite inspiration T-shirt line, Compete Every Day: 👕 https://www.goodfinancialcents.com/compete

Chuck Hughes: Dividend Double Dipping

07:27
Writing monthly covered calls on high yielding stocks is one of the best overall investing strategies as you get to collect two income streams the quarterly dividend and the monthly cash received from writing covered calls. I like to invest in companies that consistently raise their dividends as these companies have a proven track record of producing profits that enable them to increase their dividend. I like to reinvest cash dividends in additional shares of stock which enables me to compound my returns. I also reinvest the cash received from selling monthly call options which provides a double compounding effect. For example, reinvesting quarterly dividends for Mark West Energy stock has reduced my cost basis for the stock to 17.02. Mark West Energy pays a $2.60 annual dividend so my annual yield is 15.2%. Writing monthly call options for MWE has an annualized return potential of about 45.8%. The total annual return potential for this stock is 61%. In this video we will learn how this low risk strategy has produced excellent returns despite the market volatility and uncertain economy.

Dividend Paying Stocks

16:41
https://theotrade.com Dividend paying stocks are on the move. Fund managers are shifting their asset allocation around to put more money into stocks that are paying at least a 3% dividend. No matter what dividend paying stocks you pull up they are all near 52 week highs with many at multiple year highs. This is a defensive position fund managers are taken. This is also a sign they are worried about the possibility of negative interest rates. Let's take a look at the dividend paying stocks I'm watching.
