Record Store Day, Black Friday! You’re probably aware by now of the huge Record Store Day in April, but you might not know that there is also a smaller cousin, RSD Black Friday! To entice you away from the malls, on 11/24/16 we will have a slate of around 120 very limited-edition titles and early releases that are available only at independent record stores like Prex. There are some very cool pieces from Queen, Fleet Foxes, Danger Mouse, U2, Tori Amos, Doors, Poncier (Chris Cornell), and more! Adding to the collectible appeal, most of these records have very limited production runs (typically from 100 to 5,000 pieces), and are often on colored vinyl, are numbered, have special packaging or are otherwise different from standard issues. Below are answers to some of the more common questions we get about Record Store Day. 1) What’s coming out? The “official” RSD Black Friday list can be found here: www.recordstoreday.com/SpecialReleases . 2) Are you going to have “that-record-I’m-looking-for” in stock? Sorry, we don’t know. We order a LOT of product, based on what we think we can sell, history with artists, “cool” factor, etc. However, many of these titles have very limited production runs, so they are allocated by the distributors to stores around the country. How do they decide who gets what? Beats us. The upshot is that we get most of what we order, but definitely not all of it 3) Can I reserve/prepay for a Record Store Day item? No, sorry, we are a Record Store Day “pledged” store, and as such promise not to do such things. We sell in-store first come, first served on that day and not before. No phone calls or holds please. 4) What can I expect if I show up? The store opens at 10:00 am., but people often line up earlier than that to maximize their chances of getting the rarer titles. (The line is for Record Store Day product only. You may shop the rest of the store without waiting.). The special product is in one area of the store and we let several shop at a time, then let the next batch in as space opens. Depending on where you end up in line, it can take an hour or more to reach the front. Please be aware that you may not find every item on your list. We will be limiting purchases to one of each title per customer, but even so, the highly sought-after pieces go quickly. Princeton Record Exchange 20 S. Tulane St. Princeton, NJ 08542

We have just put out a large collection of over 100 Mosaic Records deluxe compact disc box sets! Mosaic Records was founded in 1983 by Michael Cuscano (of Blue Note fame as consultant, producer, and reissue director). They are dedicated to issuing limited edition (generally 7,500 or less) deluxe box sets of jazz recordings which have fallen out-of-print. These sets are leased from the major record companies, usually for three to five years. Once the lease is up, they are not allowed to manufacture more, so many of these sets are now, in turn, out-of-print. The music is primarily jazz, with a little blues thrown in, and the styles range from big band/swing, through traditional and into the more modern jazz. They typically try to be “complete” in some sense: all the recordings of an artist on one label, for one year, or the entire output for those less-prolific artists, all the recordings of one small label, etc. The quantity of discs range from one to 23 per box, and they feature beautiful booklets with extensive liner notes and many gorgeous back and white photos. We now have in stock around 60 of these box sets including quite a few that we have never seen before. This collection also has around 30 sets that are missing the boxes and booklets (collector saving space?) that we have priced at half the normal retail price, as well as 30 Mosaic Selects, smaller packages that are not as “complete” as the standard sets, but are still quite interesting. The retail price of these sets in stock range from $30 to $200 or so. Please note that these sets are sold first come, first served. Many of these titles are in very high demand, so to be as fair as we can to everyone, please do not call us to ask to put any on hold. For those not familiar with our store, sorry, we are a walk-in store only and do not ship. Princeton Record Exchange 20 S.Tulane St. Princeton, NJ 08542 609-921-0881 www.prex.com

New Arrivals: Over 10,000 Classical and Opera CDs! Just when we were starting to get caught up with the huge 9,000 piece classical collection from a couple of months ago, we have been graced with two more very large collections totaling over 10,000 titles! In the last two weeks, amongst many other smaller, we have purchased one of around 3,000 and another of over 7,000 CDs. Almost all of these have been priced "cheap", under $5.00 per disc, with most in the $1.00-$2.99 range. There is no real overriding theme to these collections. There are tons of standard repertoire titles; symphonies, vocal recitals, full-length operas, chamber music, etc. We have rearranged the back of the store yet again; the classical singers section has been expanded and shifted to the left wall, and the middle aisle now has eight bins or so of cheap CDs. We have now in stock the largest selection of cheap classical that we have ever had (at least as best as we can remember). Due to the almost overwhelming stock level of the classical cheap CDs, we are experimenting by breaking them into three rudimentary categories; opera/vocal, instrumental, and the $1.00 per disc titles. We haven't completely finished but have made good headway. You will find two very large sections (roughly 600 titles each) of the vocal-oriented CDs on the walls. Please let us know if these kinds of divisions are helpful. We very much want your feedback on how to make it easier to shop here. Please note if you are not familiar with our store...we are a bricks-and-mortar walk-in store only. We do not ship. Hope to see you soon. Princeton Record Exchange 20 S. Just Arrived: 1,000 Jazz LPs! This collection has a great selection of the standard repertoire from the bop and post-bop era of the 60’s and 70’s. However, before you serious collectors get too excited, please be aware that there are few original pressings of the earlier titles. What we do have is a really nice assortment of later pressings, re-issues and later time-period titles. Most of these records were pressed from the mid 70’s to the early 80’s. There are many all-blue label Blue Notes, with a quite a few Liberty blue/white and UA blue/white 70’s pressings. Also many later black/red and sky-blue label Impulse recordings, many, Muse, Inner City, Verve and other smaller labels, some OJC’s and quite a few Japanese pressings. There are also lots of “two-fers”; double LP repackages of classic records on Blue Note, Prestige, Milestone, Impulse, etc. This collection is exceptionally clean. The gentleman who owned them took excellent care of them, so the covers and LPs are for the most part pristine. You folks who shop for jazz know just how rare that is! There are two gems in here: Hank Mobley “Soul Station”, Blue Note BLP-4031, orig. 47 W.63rd, deep groove. This is a real rarity, but does have some superficial marks on the vinyl and a review taped to the cover. Asking $499.99. And, Miles Davis “Collectors’ Items”, Prestige PRLP-7044, orig. yellow NYC label, near-mint. Asking $249.99. Otherwise, there are 20 or so priced in the $25 -$40 range, and the rest are priced cheap to move, $1.99-$14.99, with just a handful higher. If you are looking for a nice cross-section of inexpensive jazz records, it’s a great time to come visit us! Please note: as always, these records are sold first come, first served in our bricks-and mortar store.. No phone calls or holds please. Just Arrived: A 1,000 piece “Eclectic” LP collection from a long-time record aficionado! Our successful run of obtaining quality collections, LP and CD, continues, and we have a special one to talk about today. However, there is no way to easily describe this wide-ranging assortment of titles. Genres include classic-rock, psych, garage-rock, prog, blues, soul, jazz, novelty recordings, and all sorts of other stuff. The collector had a good eye for the unusual, and there is a reason for just about every piece to be here. Some of the highlights include: The Velvet Underground & Nico, Verve V6-5008, Orig. “Torso” cover, unpeeled banana, near-mint, $279.99 Sun Ra “Cosmic Tones for Mental Therapy” Orig. Saturn 408, near mint, $199.99 Elvis Presley, self-titled, RCA LPM-1254, orig. mono w/ “Long Play” on label, near-mint, @119.99 Tea and Symphony “Jo Sago”, EMI SHVL-785, Orig. UK , no “EMI” on label, A1/B1 stamps, near-mint, $299.99 Alexander “Skip” Spence “Oar”, Columbia CS-9331, Orig. “360” label, w/DJ time-strip, near-mint, $249.99 Phil Spector “Back to Mono” Abkco 7118-1, 5 LP box set w/book and button, $79.99 But that’s just scratching the surface. There are hundreds and hundreds of obscure and interesting records in this collection. Many private pressings, many classics still sealed or in shrink-wrap, imports from Japan, the UK, Germany and other countries. Prices range from a few bucks up to $300 or so for the super rare. The conditions are, for the most part, excellent. We have adjusted, of course, when appropriate. Please note that these records are sold first come, first served. Many of these titles are in very high demand, so to be as fair as we can to everyone, please do not call us to ask to put any on hold. For those not familiar with our store, sorry, we are a walk-in store only and do not ship. We hope you get a chance to visit us soon. This truly is one of the more diverse collections we’ve ever seen, and we don’t expect these titles to last very long. Princeton Record Exchange 20 S.Tulane St. Princeton, NJ 08542 www.prex.com

Over 400 (mostly) classical audiophile records! For those unfamiliar with the term, "audiophile" records are sought after as much for their sonic qualities as for their performances. They are made with more care than standard issues and usually in smaller batches making them scarcer. They are generally manufactured using all-tube recording equipment on high-quality virgin vinyl, and are sometimes made direct-to-disc, or at 45 rpm to more closely replicate the original sound. This collection includes a wide variety of labels mostly from the mid 70's to the early 80's. We have almost the complete Sheffield Lab catalog, with many duplicates, a good slate of Reference Recordings, some Lyritas, Telarc Digitals, Crystal Clears, Cheskys and many more smaller labels. Around half of the records are on the EMI label. These British imports are generally identified by the prefixes of the catalog numbers, and there are dozens of ASD's, ESD's, SXLP's, SLS box sets, and many others; around 200 pieces altogether. There are also test records designed to help calibrate your stereo system and really see what it can do. You'll see some of the audiophiles marked "TAS" on the stickers, and this stands for The Absolute Sound, which is a magazine that caters to the high-end stereo crowd. Harry Pearson, the founder and editor until the 90's, created a list of what he considered was the best sounding records ever produced, and this list drove the market for many years. We are pleased to have quite a few ranked titles in this collection, and yes, these are a little pricey. However, while extensive in its scope, this collection does not have a lot of the stratospheric-priced rarities. There are about 15 or so in the $25 -$40 range, and a couple higher, but the rest are from $2.99 to $14.99. If you're looking to see what the fuss is about audiophile recordings or want to give your new stereo a good test drive, it's a great time to stock up. Note that these records, and the CDs below, are sold first come, first served. Many of these titles are in very high demand, so to be as fair as we can to everyone, please do not call us to ask to put any on hold. For those not familiar with our store, sorry, we are a walk-in store only and do not ship. Over 150 classical audiophile CDs! We have acquired the largest collection of classical audiophile CDs we've had to date. It includes dozens of hybrid Super Audio CDs (notably DG and EMI/Decca), many Sony SACDs, XRCDs (including the Toscanini series), and a large selection of discs from the immensely collectible (and yes, sometimes quite expensive) Esoteric label. Most are of Japanese origin, and virtually all are in immaculate condition. These extremely hard-to-find titles are not cheap, prices range from $10 to $250 with most falling in the $20-$50 area. However, we have tried to be fair and they are quite a bit lower than market value. Also, our non-classical audiophile CD section has been beefed up a bit, and many have reduced in price. Our selection of audiophile CDs in all genres has never been this extensive! Princeton Record Exchange 20 S.Tulane St. Princeton, NJ 08542 609-921-0881 www.prex.com

Late July, 2011 Just Arrived: Over 800 Jazz LPs! This collection has a great selection of the standard repertoire from the classic bop/post-bop era of the late 50's through the late 60's; from East Coast giants like Miles to West Coast artists like Art Pepper and Gerry Mulligan. However, before you serious collectors get too excited, please be aware that these titles are almost all later reissues. Most of these records were pressed from the mid 70's to the early 80's. There are about 60 Blue Notes, mostly the all-blue label with some Liberty blue/white and UA blue/white 70's pressings. Also many blue label Prestiges, later pressing of Savoy, Contemporary, Impulse and other major labels, and a couple dozen Japanese pressings. Lots of "two-fers"; double LP repackages of classic records on Blue Note, Prestige, Milestone, Impulse, etc. Beautifully maintained, the covers and records are almost without exception very clean. If you're just getting into jazz LPs, or are looking to fill some holes in your own collection, this nicely chosen selection is a great resource; the gentleman who sold them to us has excellent taste! As this collection is not heavy on rarities, the vast majority of titles have been priced from $1.00 to $9.99, with just a few dozen higher. Most of the blue label Blue Notes are $9.99 per; the Japanese LPs are in the $7.99-$11.99 range, and the "two-fers" are from $4.99 to $9.99. There are hundreds more priced to move at $1.00-$4.99. All the records are out now in the jazz section. Also note if you are not familiar with our store...we are a bricks-and-mortar walk-in store only. We do not ship. Hope to see you soon. We have just put out a super-clean collection of around 2,000 mostly rock LPs. This collector bought a good representation of popular music from the late 70's to the mid 80's. Nothing rare here, but it includes a great assortment of major artists and titles from that time period. The records are almost all near-mint with many still in their original shrink wrap. They are mostly mainstream rock, but there are also a fair amount of blues, soul, reggae and more. If you're looking to fill holes in your standard rock library, this is a great collection for you. We've priced them pretty cheap, because we badly need room for more. They are selling briskly now (a hundred or so sold as I am writing this), so please don't delay. Please note if you are not familiar with our store...we are a bricks-and-mortar walk-in store only. We do not ship. Hope to see you soon. Princeton Record Exchange 20 S. Our very own Dan Bordonaro and Joel Bauman worked in close collaboration with Gibson USA’s Master Luthier Jim DeCola to create this custom run of double-cut crazy, featuring all kinds of stuff you’re not soon to see, or possibly ever see, on any SG outside of our Lincoln Ave. showroom. Believe us. This is big. And if these SGs don’t already have their horns in you by now, they will. Our CME exclusive Standards feature custom colorways never before seen on an SG, or any Gibson for that matter. Mixed specially for us, these colors are the result of a tireless back-and-forth to perfect the unique palette of awesomeness we now present to you. To complement these unusual finishes we’ve added small block inlays and a special tortoiseshell pickguard, also unique to our CME exclusives. But what’s most impressive about our custom run of SG Standards is not the pickguard, or the finish. In fact, it sits right on top of it. CME is proud to offer the first-ever replication of the T-Top humbucker, a legendary and underappreciated component of many SGs produced from 1968 through 1980, billed here as the “T-Type.” T-Tops are known for their consistency, clarity, and note definition, offering brilliant chime without sacrificing low-end. Our exclusive T-Type pickups feature Alnico 5 magnets, a low-to-moderate 7.45k ohm DC resistance, polyurethane insulated wire, and chrome covers, built to clean up beautifully with a turn of the volume knob for incredible dynamic range and purity of tone at all decibels. As with any CME Exclusive, not to mention one of many in our long relationship with Gibson, our T-Type humbucking pickups and SG Standards are the product of love, a mutual appreciation of the Gibson solid body and what makes it so special, and the shared understanding of just why the SG is the best-selling Gibson of all-time. But if you still don’t understand, that’s okay. Check out one of our CME Exclusive SG Standards online, or stop by our Lincoln Ave. showroom and you will. It’s a truth as sharp and as clear to us as the horns themselves. https://www.chicagomusicexchange.com/pages/chicago-music-exchange-exclusive-gibson-usa-sg-standard-w-tortoise-pickguard-t-type-pickups

With PowerSchool 7.0, the age old problem of moving student records from one district to another is now a thing of the past. This new feature integrates Pearson's National Transcript Center (NTC) to provide secure, electronic transfer of student records between all participating PowerSchool sites/districts within the US and Canada (separately). NTC is also open to all K-12 schools in the U.S., so non-PowerSchool districts can also use the system to request and send records. Phase I of the Student Record & Transcript Exchange (included with PowerSchool 7.0) addresses the student SIS record and sets the stage for Phase II where parents and students can order transcripts and have them sent to thousands of colleges, vocational training centers, and employment agencies automatically. Student and parent ordering of transcripts will be included in a future release of PowerSchool. (Phase I of the Student Record & Transcript Exchange will not be available to existing NTC partner states where existing transcript or record exchange capabilities are in place. This includes CA, CO, IA, TX, UT, VA, WV and WY.)

Dr. Susanna-Assunta Sansone from University of Oxford presents "Metadata Standards." Lecture Description Interoperability standards enable the operational processes underlying exchange and sharing of information between different systems. In turn, these ensure digital research outputs are Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (the FAIR principles doi: 10.1038/sdata.2016.18). Among the interoperability standards, one category that focuses on the descriptions, or metadata, of digital objects; in this category there are content standards, which opens datasets' content to transparent interpretation, verification and exchange. The use of content standards is vital for reproducible research, and for the integrative analysis and comparison of heterogeneous datasets from multiple sources, domains and disciplines. In this webinar, I will introduce the wealth of content standards available in the life and biomedical sciences; their life cycle, the ecosystem of stakeholders and initiatives, working to realize a vision of integrable content standards that seamlessly become part of the research data management enterprise of the future. Thus gold is a form of currency, its acceptance in 194 countries, is of this world. Many people know the importance and hedging of treasury assets in gold in recent decades has been lost. Without gold, there would be no money, because when they started to trade in gold, it was deposited in banks and evidence was obtained as a receipt for the amount of the stock. These were the first unofficial banknotes of the world. The trading of bank notes was thus born, and quickly recognized banks, such that gold deposited banknotes were playing an increasingly important role in society, and soon led the first official notes have been deposited with the gold one. Today, the world has no more money, whose value is backed by gold. Thus, paper money is only one currency that has no real value. The gold standard corresponded to the beginning of the 20th Century 1.504632 gram of gold = $ 1. What is HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE? What does HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE mean? HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE meaning - HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE definition - HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Health information exchange (HIE) is the mobilization of health care information electronically across organizations within a region, community or hospital system. In practice the term HIE may also refer to the organization that facilitates the exchange. HIE provides the capability to electronically move clinical information among different health care information systems. The goal of HIE is to facilitate access to and retrieval of clinical data to provide safer and more timely, efficient, effective, and equitable patient-centered care. HIE is also useful to public health authorities to assist in analyses of the health of the population. HIE systems facilitate the efforts of physicians and clinicians to meet high standards of patient care through electronic participation in a patient's continuity of care with multiple providers. Secondary health care provider benefits include reduced expenses associated with: 1. the manual printing, scanning and faxing of documents, including paper and ink costs, as well as the maintenance of associated office machinery 2. the physical mailing of patient charts and records, and phone communication to verify delivery of traditional communications, referrals, and test results 3. the time and effort involved in recovering missing patient information, including any duplicate tests required to recover such information According to an internal study at Sushoo Health Information Exchange, the current method of exchanging patients' health information accounts for approximately $17,160 of expenses annually for a single-clinician practice. Formal organizations are now emerging to provide both form and function for health information exchange efforts, both on independent and governmental or regional levels. These organizations are, in many cases, enabled and supported financially by statewide health information exchange grants from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. These grants were legislated into the HITECH components of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The latter organizations (often called Regional Health Information Organizations, or RHIOs) are ordinarily geographically defined entities which develop and manage a set of contractual conventions and terms, arrange for the means of electronic exchange of information, and develop and maintain HIE standards. In the United States, federal and state regulations regarding HIEs and HIT (health information technology) are still being defined. Federal regulations and incentive programs such as "Meaningful Use", which is formally known as the EHR Incentive Program, are rapidly changing the face of this relatively new industry. In addition to changes driven by federal activities, the lessons learned in the ongoing implementation of some state-sponsored HIEs (such as the North Carolina HIE) and the fluctuating nature of health care regulations at the level of the state governments themselves are leading to additional refinement. However, HIEs and RHIOs continue to struggle to achieve self-sustainability and the vast majority remain tied to federal, state, or independent grant funding in order to remain operational. Some exceptions exist, such as the Indiana HIE.
