I have since beaten this time, and will continue to try to improve it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L__LOK4zt9A
The community allows runs to start from a save point immediately after the conclusion of the tutorial because it is, and I cannot stress this enough, unbelievably tedious. It is 8 minutes long, unskippable, and in a run that can end inside the first minute purely through bad rng, simply isn't practical or enjoyable. As such, while not officially a world record, the best time without the tutorial is considered by anyone who cares to be the record. For timing, 8 minutes and 3 seconds are added to the RTA time for the run to bring it in line with runs that do include the tutorial. I came up with a new route only a few days prior to this run. It was put together slightly haphazardly and there were a few kinks to iron out at first, and probably still are. It is by no means the fastest route, both by map movement and the number of deck edits, but you have endless options with regards to route and deck choice and this seemed to work better for me. For anyone looking to learn this game, either just more about the run or to actually perform themselves, I recommend watching other runs for more commonly used and probably faster routes. No route is "correct". I should also point out that the splits you see in the video are inaccurate, many of them are fabricated (clearly) just to have something to compare against, as this was a different route to what my previous best time used. None of the best segments are legitimate either (or they're simply very far from optimal)
I am not entirely satisfied with the final time, it is the first sub 50 run and a significant milestone to reach, but it is not the end goal for me. It does however put and end to a quite monstrous grind spanning several months. Several fights were very good, some a little slower than they probably should have been, and some were downright terrifying (Michael was a Pluspower away from ending it). The final fight was slow, but I was in no position to reset a fight which gave me Dugtrio in the opening hand. Deck ended up pretty good, I got very lucky with the PC drops (two Computer Search and an Item Finder).
All in all, I am very happy to get this but not to settle on it. I will try to push it further!
