1984 'Planet X' Article by U.S. News — Source: NASA

03:21
From an article published in the U.S. News on September 10th, 1984: “Shrouded from the sun’s light, mysteriously tugging at the orbits of Uranus and Neptune, is an unseen force that astronomers suspect may be Planet X – a 10th resident of the Earth’s celestial neighborhood. “Last year, the infrared astronomical satellite (IRAS), circling in a polar orbit 560 miles from the Earth, detected heat from an object about 50 billion miles away that is now the subject of intense speculation. “All I can say is that we don’t know what it is yet,” says Gerry Neugesbeuer, director of the Palomar Observatory for the California Institute of Technology. Scientists are hopeful that the one-way journeys of the Pioneer 10 and 11 space probes may help to locate the nameless body.” NASA Acknowledgment of Planet X A NASA Press Release in 1992 stated the following: “Unexplained deviations in the orbits of Uranus and Neptune point to a large outer solar system body of 4 to 8 Earth masses on a highly tilted orbit, beyond 7 billion miles from the Sun.” "Astronomers are so sure of the 10th planet they think there is nothing left but to name it" Ray T. Reynolds, NASA (NASA Press Release, 1992) Dr. Robert S. Harrington, in an interview with Planet X researcher Zacheria Sitchin reveal forgotten or covered up information that NASA and many astronomers have known about the existence of a planetary body believed to be Planet X. The Vatican‘s L.U.C.I.F.E.R. Telescope The Vatican owns some of the world’s most powerful telescopes. One has to ask themselves, “Why?” One particular telescope is called L.U.C.I.F.E.R. located at the Mount Graham Observatory and is an acronym for “Large Binocular Telescope Near-infrared Utility with Camera and Integral Field Unit for Extragalactic Research”. Surely, they know this is not a coincidence. Speculation infers that the Vatican has these high powered telescopes to monitor biblical warnings such as “Wormwood” or Planet X. HUMANS ARE FREE http://humansarefree.com/2016/08/1984-nibiru-article-by-us-news-source.html 'Planet Nine' Can't Hide Much Longer, Scientists Say (space.com Oct. 20.2016) http://www.space.com/34455-planet-nine-discovery-coming-soon.html Planet Nine's days of lurking unseen in the dark depths of the outer solar system may be numbered. The hypothetical giant planet, which is thought to be about 10 times more massive than Earth, will be discovered within 16 months or so, astronomer Mike Brown predicted. It's likely that Planet Nine is currently at or near aphelion, located perhaps 1,000 AU from the sun, in a patch of sky measuring about 400 square degrees, Brown said. (For comparison, the full moon viewed from Earth covers about 0.5 degrees of sky.) Article: “Next-Generation RS-25 Engines for the NASA Space Launch System” http://go.usa.gov/xQ8Jm Related Articles: http://go.usa.gov/xQ8Jv NASA STI Program: https://sti.nasa.gov NASA Technical Reports Server: https://ntrs.nasa.gov Facebook: https://www.Facebook.com/nasastiprogram Twitter: @NASA_STI Stennis Space Center has long been known as the agency’s largest rocket testing facility and they have been extremely busy with the testing of the upgraded RS-25 engines. In fact all RS-25 Engine testing happens exclusively at Stennis Space Center! If these look familiar to you, it may be due to the fact that they were used as the space shuttle main engine for the last 30 years. Compared to the 3 RS-25 engines that the space shuttle had the SLS will utilize 4 of them to produce 2 Million pounds of thrust. The thorough testing of the RS-25 plays an essential role in upholding NASA’s high standards of efficient and reliable engines.

NASA's Million Dollar Space Pen vs The Soviet Pencils

06:40
The story of the NASA’s million $ space pen and the soviet pencils has become one of the enduring tales from the space race which still floats around the internet today and goes a bit like this. Patreon : https://www.patreon.com/curiousdroid Paypal.me : https://www.paypal.me/curiousdroid You can now translate this and other curious droid videos, see my video about it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLPVgIytKyg During the 1960’s as NASA was sending the first men in the space, they realise that pens don’t work in zero gravity, so they spent years and millions of tax payer dollars to develop one that did. Meanwhile, in the Soviet Union, the cosmonauts simply used pencils. The moral of the story to many is that NASA was a wasteful government organisation that would be giving your hard earned TAX dollars to some greedy contractors charging sky high prices for a seemingly trivial object whereas the enemy, the Soviets, where common sense and practical. But the story is a myth, however like all good myths it’s based on facts, facts which over time like Chinese whispers end up as grossly exaggerated stories which then are taken at face value and purport to be the real facts. The true story of the “Space Pen” is a bit more down to earth and starts with a sandwich on the Gemini 3 mission of March 23rd, 1965. The crew of the flight were Gus Grissom and John Young. After the mission, it came to light that John Young had smuggled a sandwich on board in his space suit pocket. Although it had been allowed by the director of flight operations, it was frowned upon by the flight surgeon because when they took bites out of the two-day old sandwich in orbit, the crumbs floated around the cabin in micro gravity and that these could get into the electronics and cause a problem. At the time, the astronauts had an exclusive deal with “Life” magazine and some thought that they had planned little stunts like this, so as to reveal them in upcoming articles. In the earlier Mercury missions, it had been common place for non-flight items to have been taken on board missions. When it was then discovered that the two mechanical pencils the crew were using, cost $128.84 each ($986 today) and that NASA had bought 34 of them for a total of $4,382.50, the equivalent of $33,700 in 2017 prices, the press had a field day and there was a public outcry. It turned out that the actual pencils cost $1.75 each but they had custom made housings so that the crew could hold and write with them whilst wearing their thick space suit gloves and it was the R&D and manufacturing cost of these housings which was where the bulk of the money had really gone. The issue here is that people might not know what a flight computer or a rocket engine costs but when they see a pencil costing $128, they might well think what else have unscrupulous contractors been overcharging for. After an investigation, as to what was being carried on to missions, it also turned out that they also had on board four Japanese Pentel pencils which cost $0.49c each, something NASA definitely didn’t want to be known about when they flew alongside the $128 American versions. During the mid-1960’s, Paul Fisher, inventor and owner of the Fisher Pen Company patented what he called the “space pen”. Fisher knew of the issues with the NASA pencils and had the idea of making a pen that would work in space. The Space pen had a cartridge pressurised with nitrogen and that used a special gel ink that became liquid when the ballpoint rotated against the gel. It could write at any angle, on almost any surface, in a vacuum, even underwater and work in temperatures from -46C to +71C. However, he didn’t have any official backing, nor was he contracted by NASA, it was just his idea to make the perfect pen and he funded it privately by his company to the tune of a reportedly $1 million, how true that figure was, might be up for question but its where the $million price tag comes from.

NASA Spacecraft Discovers New Magnetic Process in Turbulent Space

03:24
Though close to home, the space immediately around Earth is full of hidden secrets and invisible processes. In a new discovery reported in the journal Nature, scientists working with NASA’s Magnetospheric Multiscale spacecraft — MMS — have uncovered a new type of magnetic event in our near-Earth environment by using an innovative technique to squeeze extra information out of the data. Magnetic reconnection is one of the most important processes in the space — filled with charged particles known as plasma — around Earth. This fundamental process dissipates magnetic energy and propels charged particles, both of which contribute to a dynamic space weather system that scientists want to better understand, and even someday predict, as we do terrestrial weather. Reconnection occurs when crossed magnetic field lines snap, explosively flinging away nearby particles at high speeds. The new discovery found reconnection where it has never been seen before — in turbulent plasma. Media View Barge Pegasus and SLS Hardware on This Week @NASA – May 19, 2017

02:56
On May 16, NASA held a media event at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, to highlight the recent arrival of the barge Pegasus with the first core stage test article for NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) rocket. NASA modified Pegasus to accommodate the massive SLS core stage, increasing the barge's length and weight-carrying capacity. The core stage test article – manufactured at the agency’s Michoud Assembly Facility, in New Orleans – is the first of four core stage test articles scheduled to be delivered to Marshall for testing. This delivery marks a critical milestone toward Exploration Mission-1 (EM-1), the first flight of SLS and NASA’s Orion spacecraft. It also brings the agency a step closer to sending humans to deep space destinations – including Mars. Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), located in Huntsville, Alabama, is the U.S. government's civilian rocketry and spacecraft propulsion research center. The largest NASA center, MSFC's first mission was developing the Saturn launch vehicles for the Apollo Moon program. Marshall has been the agency's lead center for Space Shuttle propulsion and its external tank; payloads and related crew training; International Space Station (ISS) design and assembly; and computers, networks, and information management. Located on the Redstone Arsenal near Huntsville, Alabama, MSFC is named in honor of Army General George Marshall. The center also contains the Huntsville Operations Support Center (HOSC) - also known as the International Space Station Payload Operations Center, a facility that supports ISS launch, payload and experiment activities at the Kennedy Space Center. The HOSC also monitors rocket launches from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station when a Marshall Center payload is on board.

NASA opens a Portal & goes Public* with their Data because of a White House order

07:12
The White House passed a Bill that said NASA had to release all* their science data to the public so now NASA has opened a public space portal for everyone to enjoy! Don't get too excited tho. All the juicy disclosure planet x alien type stuff is still classified. God bless everyone, T @newTHOR on twitter https://www.facebook.com/thornewsgo the article http://yournewswire.com/nasa-makes-public-all-scientific-publications/ NASA has opened an online portal, making all the scientific research it funds freely available to all. America’s space agency has just launched a new web portal that hosts a treasure trove of scientific publications and digital data, with free online access to the public. Science Alert reports: The free online archive comes in response to a new NASA policy, which requires that any NASA-funded research articles in peer-reviewed journals be publicly accessible within one year of publication. “At NASA, we are celebrating this opportunity to extend access to our extensive portfolio of scientific and technical publications,” said NASA Deputy Administrator Dava Newman. “Through open access and innovation we invite the global community to join us in exploring Earth, air, and space.” NASA Makes Public All Scientific Publications Posted on August 21, 2016 by Edmondo Burr in Sci/Environment // Comments (0) nasa NASA has opened an online portal, making all the scientific research it funds freely available to all. “Through open access and innovation we invite the global community to join us in exploring Earth, air, and space.” The database is called PubSpace, and the public can access NASA-funded research articles in it by searching for whatever they’re interested in, or by just browsing all the NASA-funded papers. “Making our research data easier to access will greatly magnify the impact of our research,” said NASA Chief Scientist Ellen Stofan. “As scientists and engineers, we work by building upon a foundation laid by others.” Right now, there are some 861 research articles in the database, and you can expect that number to keep rising as NASA-funded researchers get on board with the new policy. As you’d expect, there’s an enormous spread of research already on offer, ranging from exercise rountines to maintain health during long-duration space missions, to the prospects for life on Titan, and the risk of miscarriage for flight attendants exposed to cosmic radiation. All of this is now free for researchers or anybody with an interest in science to check out and download – a welcome change from when much of the content was locked behind a paywall. But not all NASA-funded research can be found in the archive. As the space agency indicates, patents and material governed by personal privacy, proprietary, or security laws are exempt from having to be included in PubSpace. NASA’s move comes in response to a 2013 request from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, which directed major science-funding agencies to come up with ways of increasing access to the results of publicly funded research. It also follows a growing general trend towards more openness in science research and academia more broadly. With frustration stemming over the commercial control wielded by the companies who own most academic publishing, some researchers are bypassing established journals altogether by uploading their work directly to the internet. Others are illegally sharing scientific papers online in a dramatic bid to spread knowledge. At the same time, there are calls in Europe to make all published science funded by the public free. The same logic is what’s behind NASA’s new portal – but even the space agency itself could benefit from the initiative, which will help it keep track of all the research it’s funding more easily. “This’ll be the first time that NASA’s had all of their publications in one place, so we estimate what our publication rate is for the agency, but this will actually be able to tell us what it is,” NASA Deputy Chief Scientist Gale Allen told Samantha Ehlinger at FedScoop. “And we’ll be able to show even further what we’re doing with taxpayer dollars.”

"Space science" pertains to astronomy and astrophysics, solar and space plasma physics, and planetary and lunar science. As the permanent archive, NSSDC teams with NASA's discipline-specific space science "active archives" which provide access to data to researchers and, in some cases, to the general public. NSSDC also serves as NASA's permanent archive for space physics mission data. It provides access to several geophysical models and to data from some non-NASA mission data. NSSDC supports active space physics and astrophysics researchers. Web-based services allow the NSSDC to support the general public. This support is in the form of information about spacecraft and access to digital versions of selected imagery. NSSDC also provides access to portions of their database contains information about data archived at NSSDC (and, in some cases, other facilities), the spacecraft which generate space science data and experiments which generate space science data. NSSDC services also included are data management standards and technologies.NSSDC is part of the Solar System Exploration Data Services Office (SSEDSO) in the Solar System Exploration Division at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center. NSSDC is sponsored by the Heliophysics Division of NASA's Science Mission Directorate. NSSDC acts in concert with various NASA discipline data systems in providing certain data and services.

NASA: DNA Building Blocks Can Be Made in Space

02:49
NASA-funded researchers have evidence that some building blocks of DNA, the molecule that carries the genetic instructions for life, found in meteorites were likely created in space. The research gives support to the theory that a "kit" of ready-made parts created in space and delivered to Earth by meteorite and comet impacts assisted the origin of life. Some articles on the discovery: http://www.space.com/12569-meteorites-dna-building-blocks-discovery.html http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,2087758,00.html NASA Goddard Space Flight Center: http://www.nasa.gov/centers/goddard/home/index.html Also from the European Southern Observatory: Building blocks of life found around young star - http://www.eso.org/public/news/eso1234/ A team of astronomers using the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) has spotted sugar molecules in the gas surrounding a young Sun-like star. This is the first time sugar been found in space around such a star, and the discovery shows that the building blocks of life are in the right place, at the right time, to be included in planets forming around the star. The astronomers found molecules of glycolaldehyde — a simple form of sugar — in the gas surrounding a young binary star, with similar mass to the Sun, called IRAS 16293-2422. Glycolaldehyde has been seen in interstellar space before, but this is the first time it has been found so near to a Sun-like star, at distances comparable to the distance of Uranus from the Sun in the Solar System. This discovery shows that some of the chemical compounds needed for life existed in this system at the time of planet formation "In the disc of gas and dust surrounding this newly formed star, we found glycolaldehyde, which is a simple form of sugar, not much different to the sugar we put in coffee," explains Jes Jørgensen (Niels Bohr Institute, Denmark), the lead author of the paper. "This molecule is one of the ingredients in the formation of RNA, which — like DNA, to which it is related — is one of the building blocks of life." The high sensitivity of ALMA — even at the technically challenging shortest wavelengths at which it operates — was critical for these observations, which were made with a partial array of antennas during the observatory's Science Verification phase. The new agency was to have a distinctly civilian orientation, encouraging peaceful applications in space science. Since its establishment, most US space exploration efforts have been led by NASA, including the Apollo Moon landing missions, the Skylab space station, and later the Space Shuttle. NASA is supporting the International Space Station and is overseeing the development of the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, the Space Launch System and Commercial Crew vehicles. The agency is also responsible for the Launch Services Program which provides oversight of launch operations and countdown management for unmanned NASA launches. NASA science is focused on better understanding Earth through the Earth Observing System; advancing heliophysics through the efforts of the Science Mission Directorate's Heliophysics Research Program; exploring bodies throughout the Solar System with advanced robotic spacecraft missions such as New Horizons; and researching astrophysics topics, such as the Big Bang, through the Great Observatories and associated programs.

10 Rules From NASA Astronauts to Sleep Better

11:28
Insomnia is really common among astronauts. What do they do to combat it? We're gonna tell you how astronauts sleep in space. Trust me, it’s a far cry from how we do it here on Earth! TIMESTAMPS: Always go to bed and get up at the same time 2:15 Quit bad habits that affect your sleep 3:13 Avoid heavy food in the evening 3:50 The temperature in the room is of utter importance 4:48 Eliminating sources of noise 5:20 Limit the use of electronic devices 6:06 Choose the correct light 6:56 Create a sleeping environment 7:32 Learn relaxation techniques 8:10 Consume caffeine and melatonin 9:24 Bonus: how astronauts sleep in space 10:27 #sleepbetter #fallasleepfast #sleepinghabits Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - Before blasting off into space, astronauts are actually given their own sleep schedule designed in accordance with their own internal clocks. - Going for an evening jog or gym workout increases your body temperature, which means you’ll need more time to calm down and fall asleep. - Astronauts also stick to lighter foods towards evening. Giving your body the task of digesting heavy foods when it should be resting won’t help you get good-quality sleep. Plus - Astronauts make sure that their sleeping quarters are well ventilated and that the temperature there stays pretty low. These two factors have a crucial effect on the quality of your sleep. - Each astronaut on the crew has their own private sleeping quarters. And that’s so they can get proper sleep without being disturbed by external noises. - The blue light that your computer and smartphone emit affects your sleep. This light is 40% brighter than sunlight. It reduces the production of melatonin, the body’s sleep hormone. - Try to avoid using fluorescent lighting. Use bulbs that emit yellow or orange light since they have almost no influence on melatonin synthesis. - If the room where you sleep isn't quiet or dark enough, use earplugs and a sleeping mask. Make sure all electronic devices are switched off, and no light gets into your room from under the door or through the window. - Some people suffer from sleep disorders because of stress and anxiety. In these cases, NASA astronauts use a cognitive behavioral therapy that helps them calm down and deal with the stress that keeps them up at night. - If astronauts experience a slight sleep disorder, they take melatonin supplements to fall asleep. They just have a mild sedative effect that helps you slowly and gently drift off into sleep. - Astronauts don’t sleep on beds like we do down here on Earth. Instead, they sleep in vertical sleeping bags that they have to strap their bodies into so that they don't float around while sleeping.
