Project Management Simplified: Learn The Fundamentals of PMI's Framework ✓

50:41
✅The best jobs no longer go to the best candidates. Times have changed. They now go to the people with the best strategies. We transformed over 5,000 careers. Join me at LIG and let me show you how yours will be the next career transformed; http://lig.academy Welcome to this week's episode where I make project management simple for you. To make it applicable to the majority of the audience, I am teaching Project Management Institute's (PMI) project management framework. ________________________________________________ Textbooks and frameworks are always boring. So, to make project management more interesting for you, I ran a project to demonstrate what steps to take and when. You won't regret spending 50 minutes to learn the basics of a wonderful practice called project management. You can also download all the templates I used in the session here (no need to register); https://thecareermastery.com/career-tips/project-management-simplified/ Although I strongly recommend you watch the entire session without skipping, for those of you who are just looking for snippets of information, you may find below the index of the video; 03:03 What is a project, program, and portfolio and how are they different from operations? 04:08 Project = Project Life Cycle + Project Management Process 04:43 Project Life Cycle 06:52 Process Groups 09:27 LIG, PMP certification or CAPM certification, which one is right for you? It definitely has a sexy tone to it right? Project… I just love the way it sounds. I wonder how cool it must sound in French. Proje… Well, project is a temporary endeavor to create a unique solution. Yeah that’s operations. No Well, the difference between a project and operations is fairly simple. A project ends. So, it’s temporary. You implement your project, you close it, you create a unique product/service/ or whatever outcome you wanted then you are done. Whereas in operations, it’s on-going and repetitive. You may have also heard about the terms program and portfolio. Let me just quickly explain them here. Program is multiple projects put together. Combined. And Portfolio is similarly. Multiple programs put together. So, it’s project, program, portfolio. Now before I go further, and dive deep. You need to understand something crucial. To run any project, you need 2 methodologies. The first one is a project life cycle and the second one is project management process. Most people confuse these 2. And if these are not clear, you can kiss the PMP certification goodbye. It’s absolutely amazing how many content creators in YouTube confuse these two. They are not interchangeable. You cannot afford to confuse a project life cycle with a project management process. Don’t worry I am going to make it very simple for you. Let’s start with Project Life Cycle. Project Life Cycle is unique to a project, to an industry, to your needs. It’s highly customizable. Think of it like this; a human development is a project. So, your life cycle is; 1) Conceiving 2) Birth 3) Childhood 4) Teenage hood. Teenage hood. Is that a word? Teenaging? 5) Adulthood 6) And death Easy stuff right? So, now if it was an IT project. I am not an IT but it would like something like this; High-level design Detailed Design Coding Testing Installation And Turnover This is project life cycle. The term cycle is a bit confusing here. I think. But who knows. This video covers; project management project management institute pmp project management professional certification project life cycle project management PMI managing a project project management fundamentals fundamentals of project management project management for beginners project management course

"How did you handle a difficult situation?" in Job Interview

03:46
"Tell me about a difficult situation or challenge you faced in a workplace" By asking this question, employers are trying to see how you (A) take charge in handling a challenging situation, or (B) collaborate with your coworkers as a team to solve a conflict. They want to know if you have critical thinking and problem solving skill, how you approach the problem and the level of responsibility you take in challenging situations. It is very important to make sure that you use an example that demonstrates your ability to handle difficult situation. So do not mention about when you elevated the responsibility. Rather, talk about times when you stepped up and took a leadership position by collaborating with your coworkers. In order to construct effective story, use PAR model and follow the 3 steps. 1 Problem: Identify the problem. What was the issue? 2 Action: How did you and your coworkers analyzed the problem and took actions to solve the issue? 3 Result: What was the positive outcome in result of the action? By following PAR model, you can frame your story well. Watch the video to see example answer and start constructing your answer. Jobspeaker is a FREE service to help job seekers find better jobs. Managing Projects using PRINCE2 Approach | Project Management | Dubai | Meirc

36:06
PRINCE2 is considered the most widespread project management method in the world due to several reasons. First, it is built on project management principles that must be followed, but could be tailored to suit a specific project’s particular environment. Second, it provides a clear governance structure that organizes the relationship between the project board and the project management team. Third, it protects the project business justification by focusing decisions on the business case. In summary, the strength of PRINCE2 is that it provides a coherent end-to-end approach that is easy to learn and apply. It also allows project practitioners to continuously manage their projects by exception through clarifying project constraints in terms of tolerances. Find out more detail at https://goo.gl/KR8Aoa

There's a way to organize your work, stay focused, avoid mistakes, and be hyper-productive that you can learn in five minutes using sticky notes and markers. It's been used by Toyota to make cars, by Xbox to build software, and by individuals to maintain sanity. Project Management in under 8 minutes

07:44
Project Management can be simple! You don't need lots of Maths, or forms, or PRINCE2, just the common sense APM method which I have explained here as a twelve step process for planning and then doing your project.. This 8 minute talk tells you all the main points, but of course there is more to learn than this - if you think it looks good then come on one of my courses! The 12 steps are - define the project - list the tasks - estimate the cost and time of each task - plan the dependencies and longest route - speed up the project plan if necessary - create a Gantt chart (I love Gantt charts) - check you have the resources required - think about risk Start the project - monitor progress - monitor cost - adjust your plan if necessary - review and learn from what happened all covered in my free ebook, download it here: https://ch355.infusionsoft.com/app/form/sign-up-free-ebook Get free project and other management tips by email from me - subscribe at free-managmement-tips.co.uk I hope you like this video. It is a new and improved version of my original one called Project Management in 8 minutes. I have also made a rap which covers the same material but in a very different way - check it out! My website http://www.chriscrofttraining.co.uk has lots of other free resources as well as information on the training courses that I run on project management, time management, and other subjects.
