Making It: During Recovery, Patient Tears Open New Career

01:43
MAKER: Deborah Shapiro, Magazine Collage Artist FROM PATIENT TO ARTIST: Deborah loves leafing through a good magazine.  Not necessarily to read articles or look at photos, but to hunt for color, text, and shapes that go into the one-of-a-kind art that she began producing a few years ago.  It all began after she went into the hospital for major surgery and came out an artist.  BEFORE BECOMING AN ARTIST: “Making art was not on my radar at all.  Prior to creating collages, I was a corporate videographer for over 35 years and created less than ten pieces of art over that period in oils and acrylics. However, my video career has really helped me with my artwork.  Whenever I work on a piece, I’m thinking that my key-light is over here and where the shadows fall and that has helped me with my artwork.  To show where the shadows are. And that’s what really makes my artwork pop!” GETTING UP CLOSE WITH DEBORAH: “From a distance, you see the subject of the artwork while close up, you will find a myriad of details.  My collages are painted with ripped and cut bits of paper from magazines, which are layered between coats of clear acrylic and finished with an acrylic varnish for UV protection.  The main subjects of my art reflect my love of animals and the everyday experiences that comprise my middle-aged, mid-west suburban life like coffee, wine and flowers.”

❤ SUBSCRIBE if you're new to my channel & click on the bell 🔔 so you never miss a new video: https://goo.gl/AvxmLb Ryn Shell, formerly of the Internationally acclaimed Buninyong Gallery captures the splendour of nature through painting skill developed during sixty-five-years of classical training from world renown artists, many of whom trained with brilliant master artists including Ryn's artist hero, Australian tonal impressionist, Fredric McCubbin. As with another of her third-generation teachers, romantic realist Sir Hans Hysen, Ryn mastered and excelled to an award-winning standard in the multi-mediums of oil, watercolours, pastels, pencils and pen and ink. Additional to this, she trained in classical life drawing and figure sculpture under the great Laurie Pendlebury, a Wynn Landscape Prize winner and Archibald portrait prize finalist. Ryn never made the mistake of having a fool for a teacher, she has gone out of her way to train with, and take master classes with the best. Ryn's flower studies and portraiture were influenced as a child by visits to the home of by the great Violet McInnes and seven times Archibald prize winner William (Billy) McInnes, and training under Alan Martin and Pat Moran. She trained in watercolour with David Taylor, Robert Wade, and Ernie Trembath, amongst many other noted artists. Ryn continues to practice and teach the sound principles of fine art and artistic integrity, Indeed many of her students have become Internationally recognised artists. The full art course with voice over, sharing how Ryn Shell completed this work, will be available to her students. See https://www.patreon.com/join/2385531for tutorial options. These classes are aimed at students who want to learn to be fine artists, and are not designed for those seeking a stylised, imagination painting, hobby class. Ryn's students are taught to paint what they see. Most of Ryn Shell's painting is completed alla prima or wet on wet. The landscapes are created from plein air studies with reference photos for children wildlife or birds, and the floral studies are painted direct from life. Optical Glass Sculptures by fine art glass artist Jack Storms - The Glass Sculptor

08:50
This video will tell you all about the cold glass process I use to make my work. I hope you enjoy it and please share if you do! Website: http://www.jackstorms.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/stormsart Twitter: https://twitter.com/jackhstorms Instagram: http://instagram.com/stormsjack Both a tremendous athlete and a motivated student growing up in New Hampshire, it wasn’t until later in life that Jack discovered his passions in contemporary art and graduated at age 30 from Plymouth State University with a BA in Art focusing primarily on studio production. It was during his junior year there that he happened upon what would eventually become an entryway to his legacy, the studio of a glass artist that was close to his school where he was producing a phenomenally rare style of glass art work combining lead crystal and dichroic glass using a cold-glass process. The process itself which required several weeks to produce even one completed glass sculpture was incredibly intense and physically challenging, and the number of glass artisans working in this form of fine art could be counted on one hand. Working side by side with the artisan for over a year, Jack learned every component and facet of this incredibly challenging and rare art form and eventually was a strong enough sculptor to branch out on his own in 2004 and open Storm Works Studios. Both challenged and inspired by having been told that his vision was impossible, one of Jack’s first major accomplishments as an independent glass artist was to invent and design a cold-working lathe that offers him the ability to turn glass and sculpt shapes with curves and details like one would produce from a wooden medium. Early memories of studying his father’s craftsmanship as he worked for hours in his own studio with a wooden lathe provided him with the blueprint of his vision, and his intense drive and deeply embedded passion as a glass artist combined with the inspiration that came from the idea of pioneering new trails in the world of fine art motivated him toward this remarkable accomplishment. The intense cold-glass process which can take up to 24 weeks for each contemporary glass sculpture to come to life begins at the heart of the design, by creating a core of lead crystal which is cut, polished and laminated creating reflective mirrors. When wrapped in optical glass, the refraction of light as it passes through the glass creates rainbows of hypnotic color. The drawn out process of repetitive cutting, grinding and polishing requires intense passion, rigid self discipline, and more blood sweat and tears than any artisan could wrap their mind around. The results, are mind boggling works of contemporary glass art. Drawing inspiration from both his heart and his mind when conceiving his artistic designs, at the heart of each lead crystal sculpture by Jack Storms lays the theory of Fibonacci, a great mathematician that articulated the natural math seen in nature. Natural beauty is created, not manufactured. From the repetition florets of a flower to the scales of a pineapple’s skin, Fibonacci numbers are found in the pattern of growth of every living thing in nature. In spite of the intense natural talent born to Jack’s very talented hands, it was only a couple of years after the opening of Storm Works Studios that Jack found himself desperately seeking some amazing source of inspiration to keep him producing his incredibly beautiful and artistically brilliant glass sculptures. It was in true fairytale love story form that the serendipitous hand of fate brought him a beautiful princess that would rescue him from himself. True love brought Jack to his wife Vivian, and Vivian brought Jack through his stormy weather helping him find his inspiration again, and jumping in feet first to completely support Jack’s dreams and everything that meant to StormWorks Studio’s allowing Jack’s glass studio to flourish. A match made in heaven, Jack and Vivian married and brought their son Owen into the world. Jack’s complex heart and deeply rooted emotions make him an exemplary caretaker for his family, who are the driving force behind his creative inspiration. Only one muse inspired glass sculpture in Jack’s collection, the Viviovo sculpture beams with radiant light and colors from within having been modeled after the intense beauty and fire burning within his wife Vivian.

Master Artist Don Clapper: Dramatic Realism

03:17
http://www.ClapperArt.com - http://www.CisionWire.com/IGOR Although Donald Clapper grew up in the Northeast, home of many great American Still Life and Trompe l'Oeil Masters, this coincidence did not influence his attraction to the world of art. After graduating from the University of Colorado with a B.A. Degree in 1983, Clapper began a successful real estate career in Florida and his hobby interests at that time were in competitive golf and skiing. Unbeknownst to him, an unplanned stop to the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia in the late 1980's became the momentum that drew him to Trompe l'Oeil and Classical Realism after he saw an original William Harnett painting. He marveled at Harnett's ability to create both unbelievable detail and illusionary dimension and began a personal study on the Old Masters Dutch still life painters and on the American Trompe l'Oeil School of painters of the late 1800's, specifically, William M. Harnett, John Haberle and John Peto. Clapper's painting developed during the 1980-90's while he lived and worked in Gainesville, Florida. It was during this season, he developed his own techniques and proficiency as he applied the Old Masters' methods of indirect lighting, shadowing, glazing and multi dimensional affects to the canvas. . After a period of painting still life's, Clapper completed series of trompe l'oeil paintings that pays homage to the pioneers of American trompe l'oeil such as Harnett and Peto. In 1994, he relocated to Arizona where he still abides and works in his Scottsdale studio. Clapper's study focused once again to the genre of trompe l'oeil including this time some modern day masters, namely Ken Davies, Gary Erbe and David Brega. In April of 2004, Clapper co-founded the International Guild of Realism, an exclusive group of today's finest realist painters dedicated to the genre of classical and contemporary realism. Clapper is also the president of the Trompe l'Oeil Society of Artists, an exclusive group of today's finest trompe l'oeil artists.. In 2009, Clapper launched a new figurative style called "Dramatic Realism". These new figure paintings represent a new style that illuminates the figure in a different and exciting way with multiple light sources with color splashes penetrating the composition. This dramatic colorful lighting creates drama and mystery to the figure. This new style combines everything that the artist enjoys in quality painting such as dramatic lighting, interesting composition, skillful technique and a unique blend of exciting color. These figure paintings by Clapper are still executed in the same skillful and academic manner that Clapper has been recognized throughout the country for his award winning and museum quality still life and trompe l'oeil paintings. Clapper's work has received national as well as international recognition. He has received numerous articles in such publications as International Artist Magazine, American Art Review, American Art Collector Magazine and Art News. His work has been featured in many museums across the nation including The Phoenix Art Museum, The Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, Wisconsin and The Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has exhibited in top level galleries across the country in New York City, Dallas, Santa Fe, LA and Naples, FL.

Eye Art Gallery Thiruvalla (Gift Articles & Wedding Cards)

01:21
Eye Art Gallery’s curatorial vision begins in Kerala but reaches outwards internationally from there. Eye Art gallery provides a vital platform for Modern and Contemporary artists from South India and, finally, diasporic artists to realize their vision in a global and ever-shifting world. Alongside in-depth, focused solo shows, the gallery presents a program of curated group exhibitions that are international in their scope and ambition. Following recent debates in institutional curating, the program deliberately links together art produced recently with art made in the latter half of the 20th Century. Through this, the gallery hopes to produce unexpected congruencies, shed light on multiple modernisms, make complex the designation “contemporary” and signal a shift away from simple survey exhibitions

Gold Beetle Found on MARS - Multi Statues & Evidence For Life (Part 2) ArtAlienTV

YouTube Exclusive " What looks like a shiny gold beetle with legs on Mars in Gale Crater. Also in this set of Curiosity Rover images there are 2 more possible statues and other remains. Yet the mainstream media and scientific community are still reluctant to admit that there is any evidence for past Mars life. Only blurred, distant and easily disputed finds ever make the press. There is still a constant feed of nonsensical articles about drilling holes to find water when there are Martian remains and artefacts right in front of the Mars rovers in almost every other set of images. No one on Earth to date has ever given me one single good reason why there should not be life on Mars either past or present. There is a constant barrage of trolls declaring that there is nothing but rocks on Mars even though they have done no research what so ever on the matter. Hatred and xenophobia is still rife on this planet and it now seems to be extending to our near planetary neighbours. Many people are reluctant to even contemplate life on a near planet like Mars and would rather it was much further away to be an issue for them. This intellectually immature attitude stretches throughout society and is probably the reason for agencies like NASA keeping a lid on this evidence. 99% of all the Mars rover images we get are over compressed and re-sized in such a way as to destroy the detail on all but the closest and largest finds. But researchers around the world with good image enhancing skills and keen eyes are still managing to squeeze out a surprising amount of detailed information from these deliberately obfuscated and mainly poor quality images. Speaking for my channel ArtAlienTV, I now have so much smoking gun evidence that my smoke alarm has had to be deactivated. Do people really believe that NASA would spend billions of dollars sending multiple rovers to Mars just to drill a hole in some pebbles? A lie if repeated often enough is often even believed by the liar himself! A convenient lie is easier to believe than an inconvenient truth! Keep searching. 21 WONDERFUL DIYS WITH CRAYONS

08:16
MAGIC CRAYON CRAFTS Did you know that crayon could be used not only for drawing but it has lots of other uses? You can make Lego-shaped chalks, decorate a t-shirt and choose any print you like, make super cute pendants and make awesome candles just in 5 minutes! Isn’t it cool? We prepared a lot of projects to boost your creativity and imagination! Besides, you can make inexpensive gifts for your friends! Let’s start from perfect candle projects we share! Candles are perfect décor items that could create a cozy atmosphere. Make a hand-shaped candle. Melt the paraffin and add color any crayons you like. Take a disposable glove and make a small hole on every finger and insert candle wick and fix with tape. Take a vase and place a glove into it upside down. It should hang inside. Pour paraffin inside and wait until it cools down. Remove the glove. Ready! Next candle idea is to reuse eggshells as candles. Place a candlewick inside the egg and pour paraffin mixed with crayons inside. Let cool and remove the eggshell. Another cool crayon idea is crayon stones. The idea is very simple-to color the stones. But we share a special technique on how to make them look like gemstones. Take several stones and “bake” them for 15 minutes. Then when they became hot put them out of the oven and start painting. We used white, blue and pink colors. Watch the full tutorial in our video! One more unexpected use of crayons is to make lip gloss. Yes, it’s a surprising but cool project that requires only coconut oil and crayons. Microwave the coconut oil and add crayon, stir and pour into empty balm container. Enjoy! You can make a lovely pendant of any color you want! Chop some crayons and pup into a metal setting. Place in into the oven to melt. And finally, cover with resin. You can create a whole jewelry collection! How a file is exported and if it needs to be converted when either exporting or importing it might cause damage to the hierarchy and also cause the file to be not editable at all. Keynote Speaker 2011 Art Works for Virginia Conference, Part 2

15:01
As an actor, Eric Booth performed in many plays on Broadway, Off-Broadway and around the country, playing over 23 Shakespearean roles, and winning acting awards on both coasts. As a businessman, he started a small company, Alert Publishing, that in seven years became the largest of its kind in the U.S. analyzing research on trends in American lifestyles; he was a frequent trend pundit in the major media, with a nationally syndicated radio program. As an author, he has had five books published. The Everyday Work of Art won three awards and was a Book of the Month Club selection. He has written three dozen magazine articles, was the Founding Editor of the Teaching Artist Journal, and his new book The Music Teaching Artist's Bible was published by Oxford University Press and is the first book on teaching artistry. In arts learning, he has taught at Juilliard (13 years), Stanford University, NYU, Tanglewood and Lincoln Center Institute (for 25 years), and The Kennedy Center (12 years). He was the Faculty Chair of the Empire State Partnership program for three years (the largest arts-in-education project in America), and held one of six chairs on The College Board's Arts Advisory Committee for seven years. He serves as a consultant for many organizations, cities and states and businesses around the country, including six of the ten largest orchestras in America, and five national service organizations and many school districts. He is widely referred to as the father of the teaching artist profession, and this is one of many topics he consults on. Formerly the Director of the Teacher Center of the Leonard Bernstein Center, he is a frequent keynote speaker on the arts to groups of all kinds. He delivered the closing keynote speech to UNESCO's first ever worldwide arts education conference (Lisbon 2006)-the only American speaker; and gave the keynote speech to the first world conference on orchestras connections to communities (Glasgow 2007). He is the Senior Advisor to the Music National Service initiative (lead trainer and training designer for MusicianCorps); and he is also Senior Advisor to El Sistema USA, a national organization training Abreu Fellows and spearheading the development of El Sistema-related sites around the U.S. "

Putting my perfectionism in it's place with art journaling

I'm putting my perfectionism in its place- and getting my muse to come back thanks to my inner teenager and some art journaling! Full blog post and photos at https://acolorfuljourney.com/?p=24559 Days like this used to squash my creativity and chase the muse away. But they don't any more, in part because I call upon my inner teenager to handle it. Teenage Angst stencil http://bit.ly/2mhJP5G Little Painted Rainbows http://bit.ly/2yudx9j Want more ways to play? Join the fun in my free mixed media workshop Permission to Play http://bit.ly/2sdGx2j I’m Carolyn Dube, a self taught mixed media art adventurer who has rediscovered play.  I play with every color of the rainbow, avoid rules whenever possible, and let the little kid inside of me free.  Visit the blog where I’m sharing the journey at http://acolorfuljourney.com/ and get my newsletter with downloadable Sparks of Art-spiration and more at http://acolorfuljourney.com/?page_id=6431 You can find my articles in magazines such as Somerset Studio and Cloth Paper Scissors, spot me teaching in person and online workshops, designing stencils for StencilGirl Products, and sharing the message of O.O.P.S. What does O.O.P.S. stand for? It stands for Outstanding Opportunities Presenting Suddenly. Those “failures” and “mistakes” that I had so harshly criticized myself about actually became true gifts as soon as I started saying O.O.P.S.   Try saying Oops in an angry tone.  It makes it even more silly! I just can’t take myself seriously when I say Oops which is just what I needed to play.  I began to play, to have fun, and to embrace all of my “mistakes”. Kenyan Artist in Israel Turning Items into Art

02:58
NEWS DESK | World famous Kenyan artist Cyrus Kabiru has made headlines by turning junk into intricate elaborate wearable sculptures. He is currently in Israel on an art residency. Our Daniel Campos has the story. Story: The process of creating order from chaos often gives birth to dazzling concepts. Kenyan artist Cyrus Kabiru is living proof. His trademark are extravagant, detailed, wearable eye-wear sculptures made from urban garbage 'I call them c-stunners, because 'c' is for my name, Cyrus, and stunners because people say 'wow' when they see them,' artist Kabiru said. He has traveled and exhibited his work in prestigious galleries and museums around the world, and for the first time he is in Israel to participate in the Tiroche Deleon Collection Residency program. 'I feel at home — not on residency. I feel like I do when I am working normally, like i do back in Kenya,' Kabiru explained. He uses old Jaffa’s flea market to find raw materials, and it's his favorite place to be. Kabiru doesn’t speak Hebrew or Arabic, but his upbringing in Kenya taught him the language of bargaining. He needs the right inspiration and atmosphere in order to create. The inspiration Cyrus finds in Israel is by connecting African themes with Jewish mysticism. 25 SIMPLE RESIN CRAFTS THAT WILL DEFINITELY LEAVE YOU INSPIRED

15:20
SIMPLE RESIN CRAFTS It looks like if I’m going to want to tackle this resin trend, I’m going to need to invest in some new craft tools. It’s definitely a specialized craft that will require a few new things. Here’s what I’m considering. Resin – Shocker! You need some resin to make a resin craft. There are different types for different applications, so if you start a project, make sure you get the right stuff! Heat Gun or Butane Torch – They help get rid of bubbles. I also saw one tutorial that used a lamp placed directly over the project so that it was getting some heat from the light bulb. Dremel Multi Tool – I saw the Dremel multi tool used for a couple of different purposes. It was used to sand and polish the resin to get that glossy shine. It was also used as a drill in some of the jewelry tutorials I found so that the chain could be added to the pendant. Packing Tape – I was surprised to see packing tape included in many of the smaller scale projects that I found. It helps to keep your piece from moving around and stops the resin from pouring out of the bottom/sides of your project. Straws – This is another odd ball thing to use, but many of the tutorials called for using a straw to blow out the bubbles that might be in the project.
