To ensure our rims are able to withstand aggressive riding in the nastiest and most technical trails around the world, like many other top carbon wheel brand BTLOS has its own in-house product testing facility. Before coming to market with a new rim profile, we first subjects our rims to strict internationally standardized EN14781 testing with the latest methods and test machines by our own technicians and engineers. Test results are then analyzed and the rim may be redesigned or tweaked where necessary, then retested to ensure final product not only adheres to, but exceeded the standards. The video below is meant to illustrate our impact resistance test, which was one of the main focus points with our Premium designs. We looked to set new boundaries and design the rim to absorb impacts in order to withstand them. This lab test is meant to simulate a rider landing on a sharp rock with a fair amount of force on fairly low pressure tire and rim. Physically, what you see is a 50lbs metal edge dropped from approximately 24, on a tire with just 25 PSI. At first blush, this may not seem like much, but in real life, a rider generally has suspension and uses body language to aid in the suspension process as well. All things considered, this test scenario does a pretty good job simulating a severe rim strike. In this instance rim was still unharmed - our Premium rims typically survive the same test with a drop height of well over 30 inches (because we know you are curious). We also regularly purchase our competitors rims to help set benchmarks for testing, and while we can't in good conscience tell you who we benchmark against, or their relative breaking points (because we don't think that would be very classy) we will tell you that our rims are among those with the highest resistance to breaking on the market - and we're not just comparing to our Chinese counterparts. During our benchmarking process, a number of variables need to be considered in order to achieve a consistent and fair outcome. Tire pressure, tire type, impact height increments, and weight and style of the rig, building all our test rigs and using a consistent test methodology enabled us to collect accurate data from each test. The results of each step are subject to rigorous monitoring and review. This meticulous process ensures that each BTLOS rims design executed to the strictest standards, in order to ensure you get the best rims possible, from anywhere in the world. For the 10 year dummy, neck protection was marginal. In the side barrier test, decelerations in the chest indicated poor protection of the 10 year dummy. Protection in this test was, otherwise, good. The front passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward-facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. Clear information is provided regarding the status of the airbag and the system was rewarded. Protection of the pelvis was predominantly good but some weak and poor results were also recorded. SAFETY ASSIST Comments The Swift has, as standard, as seatbelt reminder system for the front and rear seats. Autonomous emergency braking is included in the 'Radar Brake Support' option pack. About Charpy impact test The Charpy impact test, also known as the Charpy V-notch test, is a standardized high strain-rate test which determines the amount of energy absorbed by a material during fracture. This absorbed energy is a measure of a given material's notch toughness and acts as a tool to study temperature-dependent ductile-brittle transition. It is widely applied in industry, since it is easy to prepare and conduct and results can be obtained quickly and cheaply. A disadvantage is that some results are only comparative. The test was developed around 1900 by S. B. Russell and G. Charpy. The test became known as the Charpy test in the early 1900s due to the technical contributions and standardization efforts by Georges Charpy. The test was pivotal in understanding the fracture problems of ships during WWII. 2017 Ford Mustang - Crash Test

General comments The Ford Mustang has been reassessed following changes made to the latest version. Cars which can be ordered from July 2017 onwards are equipped as standard with Ford's Pre Collision Assist (with Pedestrian Detection, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking) and Lane Keeping Aid. Structurally, the new vehicle is identical to the last, so this assessment uses the crash tests performed previously. The restraint system has been updated to prevent the airbag bottoming out for driver and passenger. In addition, the automatic airbag deactivation now meets Euro NCAP's requirements. ADULT OCCUPANT Comments The passenger compartment of the Mustang remained stable in the frontal offset test. Dummy readings indicated good protection of the knees and femurs of the driver and passenger dummies. Analysis of the dummy data showed that the driver's head had 'bottomed out' the airbag i.e. there was insufficient pressure in the airbag to prevent the head from contacting the steering wheel through the deflated airbag material. The head of the passenger dummy also bottomed out the airbag against the dashboard, owing to insufficient inflation of th airbag and inadequate restraint for larger statures by the front passenger seatbelt load-limiter. Ford have shown improved performance from the airbags fitted to the latest Mustang, with bottoming-out avoided. However, the frontal offset test was not repeated and the scores reflect the performance seen in the original test. In the full-width rigid barrier test, protection of the driver was good apart from the chest, protection of which was adequate. However, the rear seat passenger slipped under the lap portion of the seatbelt (a phenomenon known as 'submarining') and the score for the knee, femur and pelvis body region was penalised and protection was rated as poor. Protection of the chest was also rated as poor as the rear seatbelt (which has neither pre-tensioners nor load-limiters) showed an excessively high tensile force in the test. Dummy readings of head deceleration indicated weak protection of the head for the rear passenger. In the side barrier test, the Mustang scored full points with good protection of all critical body areas. Even in the more severe side pole test, protection of the chest was adequate and that of other body regions was good. Tests on the front seats and head restraints demonstrated a marginal level of protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-end collision. A geometric assessment of rear seats indicated poor whiplash protection in these seating positions. The latest Mustang has an autonomous emergency braking system as standard. The system performed well in tests of its functionality at the low speeds typical of city driving at which many whiplash accidents occur. However, the system did not qualify for points as the car's passive whiplash protection was inadequate. CHILD OCCUPANT Comments For the impact tests, the 10 year dummy was sat on a booster cushion. Owing to limited rear space the results of the dynamic tests on the 10 year dummy were done in a separate test. In the frontal offset test, protection of the 10 year dummy was rated as at least adequate. However, the shoulder belt slipped between the clavicle and the upper arm and the score for the dummy in this test was penalised. Protection of the 6 year dummy, sat in a high-back booster, was rated as good and adequate for the head and neck respectively but dummy readings of chest deceleration indicated marginal chest protection. In the side barrier test, dummy readings indicated good protection, apart from the head of the 10 year dummy. The head bottomed out the side curtain airbag, making contact, through the deflated airbag material, with the trim on the C pillar. Consequently, all points were lost for the 10 year dummy in this test. The front passenger airbag can be automatically disabled to allow a rearward-facing restraint to be used in that seating position. The information provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag met Euro NCAP's requirements. PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION Comments The Mustang has an 'active' bonnet. Sensors in the bumper detect when a pedestrian has been struck and actuators lift the bonnet, creating more space to the hard structures in the engine bay. Ford demonstrated that the system worked robustly for a variety of pedestrian statures and over a range of speeds and, accordingly, the tests were performed in the raised (deployed) position. Test results were good over almost the entire bonnet surface. Protection of the pelvic region was poor in all areas tested but the bumper provided good protection to pedestrians' legs and scored maximum points in Euro NCAP's tests. The autonomous emergency braking system can detect pedestrians as well as other vehicles and performed well in tests of this functionality. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şenel In this study, a braking and control system, which is mounted on the low velocity impact test machine is designed and manufactured. In order to analyze damages on samples due to braking system, low velocity impact experiments are performed. In these experiments, 8 ply symmetric [-30/30]4s epoxy-glass laminated composite plates are used as samples. In such experiments, 14.7J, 22.07J, 29.43J and 44,14J impact energies are used. The manufactured braking control system works as follows; the system holds the impactor if the impactor rebounds after crashing the plate. If the impactor perforates the plate designed system does not interfere and hold the impactor. How the developed system causes damages on samples are shown by experiments. These experiments clearly show that such a system is necessary and provides realistic results.
