Arizona Prospecting 2018 - Cold and Gold
In March 2018, I met up friends Jim 'Jimbo' Hamilton and Kurt Johnson and spent 3 Days and 4 nights camping and gold prospecting in the Arizona Mountains. We had a lot of fun and found some nice pickers and small nuggets. Got down to high 20's at night...COLD ! This trip was mostly concentrating on newly built equipment. We find a few pickers, but not a lot of gold.

LEGEND OR LIE? Is there still gold in Arizona to be found?
For centuries people have been searching for gold in Arizona.
1.23.2013. I decided to walk out to some mountains today and found several old abandoned gold mines from the past. I didn't see any official claim markers or indications that the area was other than BLM (Bureau of Land Management). An old post at one gold mine had written on it, 'Gold Lake Discovery 1/1/13', which I'm not certain whether someone wrote that just a few weeks ago on New Year's Day, or that it indicates an initial discovery in 1913. This is high definition video footage for Youtube.

Desert Gold Mines: Exploring the Ten-Mile Tunnel
The Ten-Mile Tunnel is an abandoned Arizona gold mine dating back to the late 1800s. Deep in the mine, I found an inclined shaft going both downward and upward. Later research on this particular mine revealed that this inclined shaft is approximately 1100 feet long. That warrants a return visit with more people so we can descend the inclined shaft to the lower levels and see what's down there. We've only just cracked the surface on this particular mine! Stay tuned!

Gold prospecting in Arizona Desert ..still lots left
Good gold in the Arizona desert .. Love prospecting for gold out here with the keen 140 Prospecting for placer gold is normally done with a gold pan or similar instrument to wash free gold particles from loose surface sediment.[1] The use of gold pans is centuries old, but is still common among prospectors and miners with little financial backing. Deeper placer deposits may be sampled by trenching or drilling.[2] Geophysical methods such as seismic, gravity or magnetics may be used to locate buried river channels that are likely locations for placer gold.[3] Sampling and assaying a placer gold deposit to determine its economic viability is subject to many pitfalls.[4] Once placer gold is discovered, the gold pan is usually replaced by sluices or mechanical devices to wash greater volumes of material. Discovery of placer gold has often resulted in discovery of hardrock gold deposits when the placers are traced to their source Prospectors for hardrock, or lode gold deposits, can use many tools. It is done at the simplest level by surface examination of rock outcrops, looking for exposures of mineral veins, hydrothermal alteration, or rock types known to host gold deposits. Field tools may be nothing more than a rock hammer and hand lens. Hardrock gold deposits are more varied in mineralogy and geology than placer deposits, and prospecting methods can be very different for different types of deposits. As with placer gold, the sophistication of methods used to prospect for hardrock gold vary with the financial resources of the prospector. Drilling is often used to explore the subsurface. Surface geophysical methods may be used to locate geophysical anomalies associated with gold deposits. Samples of rocks or soil may be collected for geochemical laboratory assay, to determine metal content or detect geochemical anomalies.[5] Hardrock gold particles may be too small to see, even with a microscope. Most gold today is produced in large open-pit and deep underground mines. However, small-scale gold mining is still common, especially in third-world countries. A recent study by Australian scientists found that termites have been found to excrete trace deposits of gold. According to the CSIRO, the termites burrow beneath eroded subterranean material which typically masks human attempts to find gold, and ingest and bring the new deposits to the surface. They believe that studying termite nests may lead to less invasive methods of finding gold deposits.[6] where to find gold, how to find gold, minerals, mineral identification, gold mine, gold, the mine, mining gold, how do i find gold, rocks and minerals gold bug 2 mine lab garret how to pan for gold gold bug 2 arizona gold prospecting little san domingo wash linx lake Arizona desert Gold mining in Alaska Gold in California Gold nugget Gold panning Gold Prospectors Association of America Gold rush Hushing Mineral exploration Placer mining Recreational gold mining little san domingo wash lynx lake GPAA

Great Bear Gold Mining Claims - Arizona - 2017
The Great bear mine is a large and historic gold mining operation, just outside of Quartzsite, Arizona. A series of portals are opened up along a wide quartz body that is heavily concentrated with oxidized iron. Perfect breeding ground for gold. Many of the mine openings connect via trenches. The veins in the mine range from 3 feet to 9 feet as documented by local geologists and the USGS. Old reports note 3 veins that are large and gold bearing. Only the center vein has been worked in earnest. When the mine was shut down by the War Act there was over 30,000 tons of ore (reserves) on the center vein with an average return of 3 OPT in gold. Do your math on that.

Production History: This is a silver-gold-lead-copper mining area located about 20 miles SE of Prescott in the vicinity of upper Turkey Creek, South of Big Bug Mesa. Essentially from the town of Goodwin to a point near Turkey Creek station on the railroad line to Crown King. The rocks of the district are mainly Yavapai Schist of sedimentary origin, intruded on the East and West by Bradshaw Granite, and on the South by the monzonite-porphyry stock of Battle Flat. There are also historical gold finds in the washes, tributaries, benches and tailings. There are several gold mines in this area that produced large quantities of gold along with several surface/placer deposits that can still be worked all over the property including an ancient riverbed that is currently covered with a large metal lid and a fence around it. What we found while testing: Water flows about 6-8 months out of the year depending on how much snow the Bradshaw mountains receive during the winter. We tested the hill sides and the center of the wash, we ran 3 buckets of material and found a minimum of 1 color per pan up to 18 colors per pan! Arizona gold prospecting drone www.california-gold-rush-miner.us
Arizona gold prospecting drone http://www.california-gold-rush-miner.us/ Whether you call it a drone or a UAV really doesn't matter they are becoming increasingly popular for getting great aerial videos as well as still photos. I'm proud to say, that at least here on YouTube,I I was one of the first to use my drone to check out gold prospecting areas. Today, major gold mining corporations all around the world are using drones to map out and survey their current claims as well as possible future areas that may be worthy of future close inspection. As far as for weekend gold mining, your time out in the field is very precious. So, the use of a drone like this could really save you a lot of time and increase your actual prospecting time. Just thinking about it, I must've seen hundreds of old gold mines high up in the hills that I would really like to inspect close-up, but just didn't feel a hike up in 85+ (many desert areas in the summer can easily hit over 115°) degree temperatures would be worth it. Now in just a couple minutes I could send my drone up there take a look around especially for mine tailing piles that have been undisturbed and decide whether or not it's worth to take our equipment up there. Sure you can find a lot of gold without having a drone! But, the same can be said for going out without a pick or a shovel. the drone is just another tool to save time and increase your production in the field. Plus, and it's a big plus, they're really fun to fly. Be sure to visit our very popular gold-mining blog where you can not only find gold Nuggets for sale but also links to the best buys in sophisticated drones. Arrastra Gold Mining Claim - Arizona - 2017
The Arrastra Mine is a small set of workings on some likely very good gold deposits. This was a small scale mining operation, thought to have started in the late 1800s. It was likely worked intermittently until it was shut down in 1941 by the War Act. Sometime in the early 1960s, a miner by the name of George took the claim over and started working it. George stayed until he passed away in 1987 or 1989. The claim has a series of old buildings on it. The basic brick structure has been added on with awnings, an old camper, and various walls and doors. There is also an old workshop that is filled with old magazines and reading material. Many old implements that may have been used for mining. In addition, there is an early 1980s small pickup truck.
