Exclusive Interview on 'The "Science" of Pre-Crime'

25:49
For years now advocacy groups, activists and academics have been met with a wall of secrecy when petitioning the government to release the science behind their counter-terrorism and counter-extremism strategy. A few months ago, however, advocacy group CAGE came across a journal article hidden away in a niche journal in the United States. It is this article that has formed the basis of a shocking report released today by CAGE entitled, 'The "Science" of Pre-Crime'. Islam21c carried out an exclusive interview with the Research Director for CAGE, Asim Qureshi, to explain the report's findings and their significance. Read the report here and don't forget to share: http://cage.ngo/publication/the-science-of-pre-crime/

10 Police Interrogation Techniques That You Need To Know About: How Do Police Extract Confessions?

10:05
NOTE: Several viewers / commenters expressed concerns that the content of this video is stolen from another vid "Why Cops Beat You In The Interrogation Room". Just to clarify, this video of mine was created and uploaded in March 2017, more than a year earlier than the other video in question. This video presents the differences between police interviews and police interrogations. Then, 10 police interrogation techniques are discussed. These techniques range from the soft and gentle to the manipulative, confrontational, and coercive -- including: the good cop bad cop routine, making false promises of leniency, false evidence ploys, and 7 others. The techniques presented in this video are based on the following peer-reviewed research articles: Cleary, H. D., & Warner, T. C. (2016). Crime, Language & Forensics Decoded with Jim Fitzgerald & Dr. Natalie Schilling

39:27
Explore how language is used in forensic investigations from the anthrax mailings, to voice line-ups, and the investigation of the murder of Daniel Pearl, with Dr. Natalie Schilling and James Fitzgerald. We break down the rape case against Eric Frimpong, and examine how witnesses can misinterpret language to shocking ends, as well as shed light on the misunderstood science of linguistics and the very real impact that it has on crime investigation, in this Crime Time episode hosted by Allison Hope Weiner. GUEST BIO: Dr. Natalie Schilling is an internationally-renowned linguist and an Associate Professor of Linguistics at Georgetown University. She is recognized for her research on language variation across cultural groups and is especially well-known for her work on individual language style and stylistic variation. She is an expert on American English dialect variation, has extensive knowledge of variation in World Englishes, and also conducts research on variation in Spanish. Dr. Schilling is currently conducting research on authorial attribution and author profiling. She teaches Forensic Linguistics and Sociolinguistics (Language and Society) at Georgetown University and was a regular instructor in the FBI’s Forensic Linguistic Workshop for Law Enforcement Practitioners, designed and led by AGI Practitioner James R. Fitzgerald. Dr. Schilling also presents on and teaches Forensic Linguistics in various venues in Spain. She has given more than 100 presentations at U.S. and international academic conferences, universities, and training workshops, and has authored numerous academic articles and book chapters. She is co-author of a definitive textbook, American English, and co-editor of the authoritative Handbook of Language Variation and Change. James R. Fitzgerald was the Program Manager of Threat Assessment/Forensic Linguistics at the Behavioral Analysis Unit 1 of the FBI. Fitzgerald knew little about profiling or linguistics when he joined the FBI in 1987. But, while assigned to the field office in New York City, he worked cases involving stalking or threatening letters sent to Jane Pauley, Bryant Gumbel, Don Imus, Donald Trump, and Rush Limbaugh, among others. In 1995, Fitzgerald became a profiler at the FBI Academy at Quantico, Va. As part of Fitzgerald’s profiler training, he learned about analyzing communications. He later obtained a Master’s degree in linguistics from Georgetown University. (This was his second MS. His first was in Organizational Psychology at Villanova University.) As he has at his present company, The Academy Group, Fitzgerald created a linguistic-oriented database of threatening and/or suspicious letters, similar to one the Secret Service maintains.Fitzgerald now works for the Academy Group in Manassas, Va., which provides profiling services for private industry as well as a university instructor, author, and technical advisor for television programs (Criminal Minds) involving the Federal Bureau of Investigation. BREAKING NEWS Crime linked to illegal immigration, not immigrants themselves

01:12:16
#ARMYOFTRUMP #MAGA #USMCA RKTNN NEWS NETWORK LIVE!!! OCT 12, 2018 HEADLINE STORY # America vs Mexico !!! Are the number real of FAKE ??? New Estimate of 22 Million Illegal Immigrants Is Not Plausible. A new article published in the academic journal PLOS One argues that the size of the illegal immigrant population in the United States has been grossly underestimated by prior research. The authors make assumptions about cumulative inflows and outflows since 1990 and arrive at a "conservative" estimate of 16.7 million illegal immigrants in 2016 and an average estimate of 22.1 million — 50 to 100 percent larger than other estimates. The findings are unsupportable. Accepting that there are 22 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. also requires accepting that every Census Bureau survey missed huge numbers of people and that most administrative data from the federal government is woefully incomplete. There is no body of research that corroborates such a claim. Dr. Alveda King: Crime And Police Brutality Are Not Due To Skin Color

02:39
Dr. Alveda King, niece of Martin Luther King, Jr., said on Fox News that peaceful leadership is needed to deal with the issues behind the riots in North Carolina. Dr. Alveda King: “In the 1960s I was a teen. I marched and went to jail over similar things. Martial law was called. Troops were called in. But this is escalating because it’s so fast with the social media and everything and everything moving so quickly across the communities. But we can move faster by just showing, telling the truth. And I hope that the media does pick up on some of those leaders that we’re calling for. Who are calling for peace and stability and calmness.” “Across the country, we’ve seen this outbreak and a fight over skin color. If my dad was here, Reverend A. D. King, my uncle, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., they’d say, Acts 17:26 “One blood.” So it’s not about the skin color. It’s the conditions that are so oppressive. So all white people are not devils. All black people are not angels. It goes so far beyond skin color. I can understand the frustration. And so you will respond immediately to what you see. And that’s maybe skin color. But it’s the heart that really counts. And I hope that some of the leaders of America can get that message across right now in Charlotte. But every city, there’s trying to erupt into violence, it needs spiritual leaders. People with wisdom and stability to break through these problems.” Dr. King said that police departments need to be allowed to do their job. “So the police departments are not the enemies. You have some bad police officers and some good ones. But do not lump all law enforcement into one little bundle. We’ve got to allow them to do their job.” Dr. King said that good schools and jobs will reduce crime. “We want our whole communities, the entire communities back to work, back to good schools and that type of things. When people are allowed to contribute to a society and help it to be better, then there’s less violence and less crime. The crime is not due to skin color. The police brutality is never due to skin color. So we’ve got to go deeper with these issues and it’s a spiritual matter.” “One of my favorite messages that [Dr. Martin Luthor King Jr] always gave: ‘We must learn to live together as brothers’ and I added ‘sisters, or perish as fools.’ Acts 17:26, we’re one blood. We can be an agreeable community. We can do this.” “Thank you so much. We really appreciate the positive message for us today. A lot of people need to hear that.” “Thank you.” “Thank you.”

The International Criminal Court and the Crime of Aggression - Panel 1

01:19:58
September 26, 2008 War Crimes Research Symposium presented by the Frederick K. Cox International Law Center Panel I Substantive Elements of the Crime of Aggression and Contemporary Case Studies Moderator: Christopher Rassi, Thompson Hine, D.C., Prof. William Schabas, Irish Centre for Human Rights, author of the book, An Introduction to the International Criminal Court, Prof. Mark Drumbl, Washington and Lee University College of Law, Oscar Solera, author of the book Defining the Crime of Aggression (Cameron 2007) Summary: Sixty years ago, the Nuremberg Tribunal convicted the Nazi leaders of waging a war of aggression, prompting Nuremberg Prosecutor Robert Jackson to declare that this was the most important contribution of the Nuremberg Tribunal. Until the advent of the International Criminal Court, however, none of the modern international tribunals had been given jurisdiction over the crime of aggression. But the ICC Statute stipulates that before the Court can exercise jurisdiction over this crime the States Parties must adopt a provision at the Review Conference (scheduled for 2010) setting forth a definition of aggression and the conditions under which the Court could exercise its jurisdiction over it. The ICC Assembly of State Parties has set up a Special Working Group on the Crime of Aggression, whose work is in progress, but the United States has refused to participate in the proceedings. In an effort to advance the initiative, Case Western Reserve Universitys Frederick K. Cox International law Center and the above named co-sponsors are hosting a symposium and experts meeting, featuring foremost academic and international experts on the topic of the ICC and the Crime of Aggression. The Report of the Experts Meeting, along with articles generated from the symposium, will be published in the spring 2009 issue of the Case Western Journal of International Law, copies of which will be provided to the participants of the ICC Special Working Group and the members of the Assembly of State Parties.
More Guns Mean Less Crime: The Most Rigorously Comprehensive Data Analysis (2000)

01:41:36
John Lott studied economics at UCLA, receiving his B.A. in 1980, M.A. in 1982, and Ph.D. in 1984. Lott has held positions in law and economics at several institutions, including the Yale Law School, Stanford, UCLA, the Wharton Business School, Texas A&M University, and Rice University. Lott was the chief economist at the United States Sentencing Commission (1988–1989). He spent five years as a visiting professor (1994–95) and as a fellow (1995–99) at the University of Chicago. Lott was a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute (2001–2006). He left AEI for SUNY Binghamton. From July 2007 to 2010, Lott was a senior research scientist at the University of Maryland Foundation at the University of Maryland, College Park and lectured on law and economics. On the Social Science Research Network, Lott's papers ranked 28th in number of all-time downloads, and 2673rd in scholarly citations of his work, as of July 1, 2016. In an 1997 article written with David B. Mustard[17] and Lott's subsequent books More Guns, Less Crime and The Bias Against Guns, Lott argued that allowing adults to carry concealed weapons significantly reduces crime in America. The work was immediately controversial, drawing both support and opposition. Several academics praised Lott's methodology, including Florida State University economist Bruce Benson,[18] Cardozo School of Law professor John O. McGinnis,[19] College of William and Mary professor Carlisle Moody,[20] and University of Mississippi professor William F. Shughart.[21] Other reviews said that there were problems with Lott's model. In the New England Journal of Medicine, David Hemenway argued that Lott failed to account for several key variables, including drug consumption, and that therefore the model was flawed;[22] however, Lott's econometrics did account for other variables such as street prices of illegal cocaine.[23] Other researchers agreed, but some, including Ian Ayres and John J. Donohue, said that the model contained significant coding errors and systemic bias.[24] Daniel Webster et al. also raised concerns about other flaws in the study, such as misclassification of laws and endogeneity of predictor variables, which they said rendered the study's conclusions "insupportable".[25] Gary Kleck considered it unlikely that such a large decrease in violent crime could be explained by a relatively modest increase in concealed carry,[26] and others said that removing portions of the data set caused the results to still show statistically significant drops only in aggravated assaults and robbery when all counties with fewer than 100,000 people and Florida's counties were both simultaneously dropped from the sample.[27] A 1998 study by Jens Ludwig that said it "more effectively control[ed] for unobserved variables that may vary over time" than the Lott and Mustard study concluded that "shall-issue laws have resulted, if anything, in an increase in adult homicide rates."[28] In 2004, the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) National Research Council (NRC) conducted a review of current research and data on firearms and violent crime, including Lott's work, and found "no credible evidence that the passage of right-to-carry laws decreases or increases violent crime."[29] James Q. Wilson dissented from that opinion, and while accepting the committee's findings on violent crime in general,[30] he noted that the committee's own findings in several tests showed "that shall-issue laws drive down the murder rate".[31] The NRC committee took no position on the correctness of the competing Ayres-Donohue hybrid model other than to note it nested the Lott-Mustard separate first year level and future trend models into a single econometric model simultaneously handling level and trend; when the committee applied the hybrid model to a hypothetical county dataset showing a declining crime rate, the hybrid model produced a spike in crime level followed by an accelerated downward trend (Figure 6-1, page 135). Referring to the research done on the topic, The Chronicle of Higher Education reported that while most researchers support Lott's findings that right-to-carry laws reduce violent crime, some researchers doubt that concealed carry laws have any effect on violent crime, saying however that "Mr. Lott's research has convinced his peers of at least one point: No scholars now claim that legalizing concealed weapons causes a major increase in crime." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Lott Image By Niels Noordhoek (Own work) [CC BY-SA 3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

The Relationship Between Crime and Morality: Tom Wolfe - Quotes (1994)

01:32:18
American novelists for failing to engage fully with their subjects, and suggested that modern literature could be saved by a greater reliance on journalistic technique. This attack on the mainstream literary establishment was interpreted as a boast that Wolfe's work was superior to more highly regarded authors.[26] Wolfe was a supporter of George W. Bush and said he voted for him for president in 2004 because of what he called Bush's "great decisiveness and willingness to fight." (Bush apparently reciprocates the admiration, having read all of Wolfe's books, according to friends in 2005.[27]) After this fact emerged in a New York Times interview, Wolfe said that the reaction in the literary world was as if he had said, "I forgot to tell you—I'm a child molester." Because of this incident, he sometimes wears an American flag pin on his suit, which he compared to "holding up a cross to werewolves."[28] Wolfe's views and choice of subject material, such as mocking left-wing intellectuals in Radical Chic and glorifying astronauts in The Right Stuff, have sometimes led to his being labeled conservative,[29] and his depiction of the Black Panther Party in Radical Chic led to a member of the party calling him a racist.[30] Wolfe rejects such labels; in a 2004 interview, he said that his "idol" in writing about society and culture is Émile Zola, who, in Wolfe's words, was "a man of the left" but "went out, and found a lot of ambitious, drunk, slothful and mean people out there. Zola simply could not—and was not interested in—telling a lie."[29] Asked to comment by the Wall Street Journal on blogs in 2007 to mark the tenth anniversary of their advent, Wolfe wrote that "the universe of blogs is a universe of rumors" and that "blogs are an advance guard to the rear." He also took the opportunity to criticize Wikipedia, saying that "only a primitive would believe a word of" it. He noted a story about him in his Wikipedia entry at the time, which he said had never happened. Wolfe lives in New York City with his wife Sheila, who designs covers for Harper's magazine. They have two children, a daughter, Alexandra, and a son, Tommy.[32] A writer for Examiner Magazine who interviewed Wolfe in 1998 said, "He has no computer and does not surf, or even know how to use, the Internet", adding, however, that Wolfe's novel A Man in Full does have a subplot involving "a muckraking cyber-gossip site, à la the Drudge Report." Wolfe is credited with introducing the terms "statusphere," "the right stuff," "radical chic," "the Me Decade," "social x-ray," and "pushing the envelope" into the English lexicon. He is sometimes credited with inventing the term "trophy wife" as well, but this is incorrect: he described emaciated wives as "X-rays" in his novel The Bonfire of the Vanities but did not use the term "trophy wife".[34] According to journalism professor Ben Yagoda, Wolfe is also responsible for the use of the present tense in magazine profile pieces; before he began doing so in the early 1960s, profile articles had always been written in the past tense. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Wolfe
