The importance of studying consumer behavior
You want to dive deep into the world of finance and management? Visit us: http://www.frankfurt-school.de/en/home/programmes.html?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=ACQUISITION First of all it is defined as the area of research within the field of Marketing that focuses on how consumers acquire, use and dispose of goods, services, time, and ideas. Consumers can be individuals, families or other groups, such as teams and companies. Let’s try to understand the importance of studying consumer behavior. Suppose you need a new phone: How would you go about satisfying this need? Where would you turn to for information? How would you set your budget? Where would you buy the phone? These are just some decisions consumers face on a regular basis. Interestingly, each consumer will answer these questions differently based on their backgrounds and some psychological factors. How consumers make each decision has direct impact on marketing strategy. For a company that makes phones, the answers to these questions will help them know: the types of phones to design, the price consumers are willing to pay, and where they should sell their phones. It is very important to understand how consumers make decisions because the best way to create and keep customers is to understand what motivates their consumption decisions and anticipate their consumption needs. Only this way, companies can design products, services and offers that will make their customers happy!

Consumer Behavior Important in the Marketing Process Framework
If we look at the marketing decision process which has mainly three components, first is identifying the market opportunities. Second one is setting the strategy, and the third one is setting the marketing mix. If you look at the three steps, the first step which is the identify marketing opportunities. Consumer behavior immediately comes at this stage because this is where the company tries to look at who are your customers, what is the company internally looking like, and what is the competition? Immediately afterwards when you talk about the marketing research part, that actually looks into these three aspects much more deeply. So why do we even study consumer behavior? So consumer behavior by definition is all the psychological and behavioral aspects of the consumer's decision making process, be it individual or be it group level.

Understanding Consumer Behavior and Theory of Reason Action
The science of marketing is increasingly important to success in the modern marketplace. Theories of consumer behavior address important issues, such as how consumers purchase as individuals versus how they purchase in groups, the role of emotions in purchasing decisions, post-purchase attitudes, and the role of object utility. Understanding these issues enhances a marketing campaign’s effectiveness and its impact on consumers. To determine consumer behavior, marketers use numerous consumer behavior models Theory of Reasoned Action created by Martin Fishbein and Icek Ajzen in the late 1960s centers its analysis on the importance of pre-existing attitudes in the decision-making process. According to the theory, a consumer only takes a specific action when there is an equally specific result expected.  From the time the consumer decides to act to the time the action is completed, the consumer retains the ability to change his or her mind and decide on a different course of action. The science of consumer behavior is always evolving. A plan in business will define the success because you don’t know what to do without a plan forward. This simple exercise will shed light on many of the major problems any small business has.
