The 4 Most Important Financial Metrics

07:57
Financial metrics are the key numbers that you can focus on in financial statements. There are three financial statements, the balance sheet, the income statement and the cash flow that we like to look at to find important metrics. http://bit.ly/2xOCmRl Were going to look at some of the most important financial metrics that you as investors can use to evaluate a company. The first important number we look at on the balance sheet is liquidity. Can the company you’re looking at really cover everything that they need to cover in the next year? Or have they somehow overloaded themselves with short term debt and obligations that they could really run out of cash in the next year? In order to evaluate this, we want to look at the current ratio. Essentially it is a measure of working capital. It compares the current assets, which are assets that can be turned into cash in the next year, with current liabilities, which are obligations that have to be paid in the next year. What you want to look for when evaluating a company is a 2:1 ratio of liquidity to debt. Some companies are very well run that have a lower ratios than that, because they are controlling their cash very well, or they are in an industry that isn’t growing fast so they don’t need as much liquidity. These companies work their capital down so they don’t need as much cash on hand all the time and they can give that money to their shareholders. You will know that these companies are very well run because, they are really big companies. Most companies, particularly smaller companies need at least a 2:1 ratio between current assets and current liabilities. That’s a great measure of liquidity. We call that the liquidity metric. Investing Ep. 2: Crude Oil Analysis | BeatTheBush

12:29
How and when to invest in crude oil or gasoline. Disclaimer here is that there are just some of my personal ideas, you should seek your financial advisor to determine if investing in oil or the fund I recommend is right for you. Ultimately, this is a financial asset and it may increase or decrease in value. In this video, I propose some points to consider when predicting the future prices. One obviously cannot predict the future price at any particular time with a high certainty. Therefore, I revert to predicting that it may go up in a broad time frame. Of course, my prediction may not come true so we will see what happens 2 to 5 years from now. My final prediction in IXC is for it to recover from $25 back to about $40. It is currently $30 so this is about a 33% gain in 2 to 5 years. Sounds good on paper but only time will tell where it will go. The reason I am bullish on this stock is due to the cyclical behavior that appears to always happen. The oil industry goes through boom and bust stages and this could be no different. Of course, various factors COULD cause a prolonged stagnation of the price which would cause the investment to not have any gains. My estimate is for a slow to medium speed recovery. You may wonder why invest in this if it ONLY gives 33% in 2 to 5 years? That is relatively little appreciation compared to a different asset. The reason is about confidence level. My confidence level is high but not 100%. It is certainly higher than many other assets I have seen. When it comes down to it, if I were to hedge against gasoline prices going from $2 currently to $4 in the future, I would be happy to pay $2 in the future. Or, if I invest enough, I would be paying $2/gal for the rest of my life. Now, if gasoline plummets down to $1/gal, then I would be loosing money and overpaid for my hedging activities. My thinking is that oil price has a high certainty of increasing in price in the 2 to 5 year term. Hence, the IXC ETF investment should be a good one. Of course, do your own research and do not overly concentrate all your assets even though the ETF is a fund comprising of many companies in itself. . Price of Gold Itself Could Hinder Investment Demand - Commodities Confidential w/ CPM Group

09:06
As investors become increasingly price-sensitive, higher gold prices may actually hurt the yellow metal according to Rohit Savant, Senior Commodities Analyst at CPM Group. In this week's edition of "Commodities Confidential" we discuss why the price of gold itself may be the deterring factor for investors in the new year, and also review CPM Group's gold price forecast for 2013, which projects softer gold prices in comparison with last year. Discussing where gold may diverge from historical correlations or patterns, Savant acknowledges that negative real interest rates and currency market volatility would typically result in higher gold prices, but stresses that is not always the case; with both interest rates and currency market volatility, we've seen price moves in both directions for gold. CPM Group believes that gold prices will soften regardless of these factors, and are looking at other indicators which they believe are more telling. According to Savant, what will hurt gold in 2013 is the price of the metal itself; investors have been fairly price sensitive he says, and thus are less likely to step in as buyers at high price levels, and are more likely to wait until prices soften. For example, Savant notes that in the first week of 2013 he saw gold prices "come off" but didn't see a positive response coming in from ETF's, coin sales, and the like; premiums for coin sales were actually down during the first week of this year, as were net-additions to gold ETF holdings. Based on these factors, Savant says that CPM feels investors are waiting for gold prices to soften before stepping in as buyers. Kitco News, Jan. 11, 2013. --- Agree? Disagree? Frank Holmes: Commodities (Especially Gold Stocks) Are Due For A Major Rally Soon

Jason Burack of Wall St for Main St interviewed returning guest, CEO & Chief Investment Officer of U.S. Global Investors http://www.usfunds.com/, Frank Holmes Frank's bio: http://www.usfunds.com/about-us/our-team/ Frank is also an award winning investment analyst. Frank writes the popular investing blog, called Frank Talk, covering energy, gold, commodities and China. Get a free, in depth research report on Frank's new company, crypto currency miner, Hive Blockchain Technologies, here: http://www.pureblockchainwealth.com/Block/ During this 30+ minute interview Jason asks Frank about the oil market and why it's had a big rally in price since summer of 2017? Jason asks Frank a number of other questions about the oil market including if he thinks this higher oil price will bring on more oil supply and that will lead to another oil bust? Next, Frank talks about how cheap commodities (especially gold stocks) are relative to regular stocks. Frank thinks that commodities including energy and gold stocks are overdue for a large mean reversion rally. Frank thinks that peak gold is a reality for gold miners, that gold miners have cut all their costs to the bone and that it is extremely financially dangerous for a gold miner to bring any new gold mines online. However, Frank really likes (prefers) the larger precious metals royalty and streaming companies. Frank also talks about his company's new Gold Mining ETF (NYSE:GOAU) To wrap up the interview, Jason asks Frank about institutions going into Bitcoin and the other larger crypto currency like George Soros and Frank talks about the impressive margins and profit potential of his new company, Hive Blockchain Technologies https://www.hiveblockchain.com/, which could be making $50 million per year in free cash flow in the near future. Jim Rogers - How He Became a Commodities Trader

09:35
For the latest Jim Rogers, go to http://JimRogersBlog.com - In the investment business, Jim Rogers invested in everything both long and short. He came from a rural part of Alabama, but his family weren't farmers. He began investing in commodities because it looked like that was the major bull market at the time. When it was time to invest in commodities at that time, there weren't any proper indexes to invest in. Because of that, Jim Rogers had to sit down and create his own index that reflected the cost to live all around the world. Dow Jones didn't even know that they had a commodities index. You shouldn't put a penny of your money there. At times, the investment banks had huge commitments to commodities. They got out during the 80s and 90s because there was a bear market. Now they are starting to come back. The go to whatever is hot because that is what is easy to sell. In 5, 10, 15 years, they will come back to commodities in a big way. By definition, rising prices is inflation. Central banks are printing huge amounts of money all over the world. There are supply demand imbalances compounded by the central bank printing money. Who knows what will happen at the end of the bull run. At the end of bull markets, things get wild and hysteria. When prices get so extraordinarily high, that will reduce demand, and that is one of the factors that will lead to the end of the bull market. Normally, Jim Rogers has gotten out too soon, because he can see what is happening. But the prices can double very quickly at the end of a bull market. But it is the most dangerous part of the bull market. The US Dollar is a terribly flawed currency. It is going into its demise over the next couple decades. That commodities are traded in dollars will be a factor on their prices. 100 years ago commodities were traded in the Pound Sterling. But that changed, and now they are traded in the dollar. That too will change. India and China have 2.3 billion people, but their economies combined are still only a tenth of the size of the US and Western Europe. So they aren't as big of a factor right now, but that will slowly change.

New interview with Elliott Wave International’s Chief Commodity Analyst
What Should You Start Trading First? Stocks, Options, Commodities, Forex?

05:51
What Should You Start Trading First? Stocks, Options, Commodities, Forex? ★ SUMMARY ★ Stocks, Options, Commodities or Forex? It really comes down to personal preference. Personally, I started with the stock market and prefer it as a starting place for beginners. Why? Stocks have a lot more liquidity, they are easier to understand and it’s easier to get in/out of them. Options are my second choice because you can leverage and make more from your money or trade larger stocks for fewer yields. Basically, it allows you to control more of the expensive stocks. BBL Commodities: 2017 Opportunities in Crude Oil, Refined Products and Natural Gas

09:07
Jonathan Goldberg is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of BBL Commodities LP, an investment manager which employs a fundamental, discretionary relative value strategy focused on the petroleum complex and natural gas. Jon has spent his entire career analyzing and trading in the oil and gas commodities markets, beginning at J. Aron, the commodities division of Goldman Sachs from 2003 to 2010. His first role was in working with Goldman's refining and end-user clients on structured hedging transactions before taking over a proprietary trading role. Mr. Goldberg then worked as a partner in Glencore's oil department from 2010 through 2013, where he was responsible for helping to build the firm's US oil derivatives business. Mr. Goldberg managed a proprietary book and leveraged his financial experience as well as his understanding of the physical oil markets, and subsequently launched BBL in August of 2013, bringing several members of his Glencore team along with him. In this Opalesque.TV interview, Mr. Goldberg discusses how his relative value commodity approach differs from many other hedge fund peers in the sector, and how the investment process more appropriately reflects the actions taken within an oil trading house. The strategy is versatile in its application and expression and is designed to operate in different and changing market conditions. Trade expressions are predominantly designed through futures based spreads, with a focus on the middle part of the futures curve. Whilst the strategy may take directional exposure, it typically has no directional bias and provides diversity by being comprised of different trades through the petroleum complex, which at times may be independently bullish or bearish in nature. The foundation of the investment process is the fundamental analysis of micro supply and demand balances in global oil and micro oil market, seeking to identify and capitalize on the potentially substantial mispricing that exists in the market, due to seasonal trends, poor understanding of the dynamics of the forward curve and incomplete supply and demand analysis by market participants. Jon describes what makes the market environment in 2017 flush with opportunity sets for relative value oil trading, particularly due to OPEC’s crude oil production cuts and US supply growth. Relative value oil traders can capitalize on such movements, trading the front of the curve versus the back of the curve. Learn more about: Why OPEC’s production cuts combined with US production trough drives relative value trade opportunities The impact of upcoming spec changes coming to the US market, and why regulatory changes will increase global distillate demand The importance of a diversified set of positions into different themes Natural gas market sell-offs in 2017 due to historically warm weather Natural gas production is actually declining on a year-on-year basis in both 2016 and 2017 Why gas markets may see very large inventory declines going through the summer and into the winter of 2018, driving higher prices for the forward curve How a strategy based on relative value is able to operate in different and changing market conditions Importance of diversity in positions
