Everlast® Epoxy vs Neverlast Flooring Episode 7 When it comes to outdoor weather resistant flooring, the majority of outdoor flooring solutions cannot handle the tough exposure often experienced by flooring systems that are exposed to the elements. The result is eventual chipping, cracking, discoloring, and erosion. To top it off, most flooring manufacturers claim that their systems will last outside… when they don’t. “What about UV-resistant epoxy flooring?” We hear this all the time. Being an epoxy floor manufacturer… I do not recommend epoxy when it comes to outdoor floors. Although there are many companies that claim to have UV-resistant epoxy flooring, when put to the test, they last for a very short time. You often need to sand the floor down and re-apply the coating after a couple of years. The problem is not that certain manufacturers are using low quality epoxy… it's just that epoxy is not designed to handle UV rays in general. Its a bad material overall for outdoor use. After only a few months, many epoxy outdoor floors start to yellow, i.e. they are slowly losing their strength, and rocks start popping up because the material is failing. And the sad thing is that most people just accept that their floors will be ugly and need to be fixed every couple of years. There Are Two Types Of Epoxy Outdoor Material Manufacturers 1. A manufacturer that promises its waterproof outdoor flooring option will not yellow, even when it does, 2. And those that KNOW it’s going to yellow and require you to complete maintenance work every couple of years. The maintenance crew needs to clean off the loose rocks by sanding it down and then recoat your traditional pebblestone floor. That should last you another 2 years. But it starts to yellow quickly and you can’t recoat it until it’s become almost white. So, you need to calculate how much it will cost you to have your floor recoated every two years when you estimate the cost of installing an epoxy-based outdoor flooring system. It’s important to understand the real cost of value shopping. You cannot look at the initial installation price alone. You need to factor in the cost of maintaining the floor over the years… not to mention the beauty cost of having a floor that starts to become yellow and then white. Now Let's Look At The Everlast® Outdoor Tough System When it comes to swimming pool deck flooring, if you’re using traditional Cool Deck material around your pools, it will crack and develop heat bubbles… eventually the material will come off in patches. Even the manufacturers of Cool Deck tell you to constantly repaint your deck. They tell you that you need to keep maintaining your Cool Deck material so it doesn’t break down. With Everlast® Outdoor Tough, you don’t have to repaint or reseal the deck. It simply lasts you for a very long time. As a bonus, there are numerous different color options for you to choose from. You can also use the Everlast® Outdoor Tough polyavastic instead of epoxy for natural stone pebblestone or granite stone. In fact, Everlast® Outdoor Tough pool flooring is so tough that it can handle prolonged exposure to pure chlorine. We sunk it into a bowl of chlorine for 14 days and left it there. It didn’t look any different and the weight was the same. This told us that there had been zero deterioration. And mind you, this was pure chlorine. The amount in your swimming pools is much more diluted. And if you need a non-slip surface, you can go with the Everlast® Outdoor Tough quartz material. It’s like colored sand. It’s not rough enough to hurt your feet but it prevents you from slipping if water is on the surface. And to top it all off, it is freeze/thaw resistant for those pools in regions that don’t have year-round summer conditions. The problem with many pebble systems is that water will accumulate between the pebbles. When the water freezes, it expands and starts popping up the pebbles. So, It’s Beautiful And The Weather Doesn’t Faze It! Always do your own research before selecting the right outdoor flooring option for your needs. But... … Of course, we here at Everlast® Epoxy firmly believe that we have the right solution for your needs. However, we understand you have many questions before making your decision. Why not give us a call and talk to one of our friendly floor experts today? Visit https://www.everlastepoxy.com/outdoor-concrete-flooring-decking for more information… … or call 800-708-9870 now.

How to install epoxy natural stone flooring Everlast pebblestone is very easy to install. Full instructions and tool list needed is here: http://www.everlastepoxy.com/pebblestone-river-rock/how-to-install The first step is to prepare the concrete by removing any existing coating. You can rent this floor maintainer at almost any tool rental location, this one is available at home depot for $34 for 4 hours. If you are removing a coating then get a coating removal attachment, for bare concrete use the concrete prep tool, for a plywood subfloor use 36 grit sandpaper. The next step is to prime the floor. Unless your floor has a moisture problem – then don’t prime the floor. Call us about our Vapor Vent system, a concrete moisture solution. For this project they used Everlast Outdoor Tough Weatherproof polyavastic because this epoxy natural stone flooring is exposed to sunlight and they want the floor to look nice for years. If they went with one of the UV resistant epoxies that other companies sell the protection would erode in a few months and the floor would turn yellowish and the finish would be chaulky. So they made the wise decision to use Everlast polyavastic and now their floor will look nice for years. The next step is to pour out all of one unit of part B into one can of part A and blend well and then roll on the primer. Cut the primer with solvent. If you are using our outdoor polyavastic cut it with MEK, if our indoor epoxy cut with xylene. Let the primer dry overnight. Mark out your first section on the floor so you can make sure your gauge rake is set to the proper depth and that you get the correct coverage. You may need to mark out the next section before blending each new batch until you are confident that you are getting the right coverage. This is a patio so we are doing 3 foot by 8 foot sections of 24 square feet for each batch. This gives us a depth of 1/2 an inch. Now you are ready to install the epoxy natural stone flooring. Pour out all of one unit of part B into one can of part A and blend well. Then pour 2 bags of pebbles into a $17 metal tub and pour the blended resin over the pebbles. Mix the resin in thoroughly with a mud mixing drill. Be sure to blend it thoroughly so that there are no dry patches of pebbles. Pour out the pebbles and spread them with the gauge rake to get a uniform coverage inside the 24 square foot section. Next even the pebbles out with a 16 inch finish trowel. We prefer the Marshalltown lightweight finish trowels. It is important to take your time and do a nice job. Try to have an even finish with no trowel marks or stray rocks sticking up. It is easy to do a nice job, but it does take extra time. If you try to hurry it will not look nice. If you leave uneven areas or holes while you are installing epoxy natural stone flooring then after the floor is finished some of the pebbles could start coming out in those areas. So the better of a job you do troweling, the less likely you will have to patch the floor area later on. The next step is to let the pebblestone get hard. Indoor epoxy will be cured the next morning. Outdoor polyavastic will take an extra day to cure. The next step is to scrape off any stray pebbles that are sticking up and sweep or blow off the floor to remove the extra pebbles. Then mix up some more polyavastic or epoxy and roll a topcoat over the floor. If you use an indoor epoxy topcoat it will be ready to walk on the next morning and the outdoor polyavastic topcoat will take an extra day to cure. Now you will have the nicest looking floor in town, so be prepared to offer your services to your friends and neighbors! Have fun and enjoy! Using a small handheld belt sander to refinish a floor, gap filling with shims, getting it smooth and free of specs and bumps. http://woodgears.ca/home/floor_refinish.html I learned along the way and show some of my mistakes. Not everything I tried turned out to be a good idea. But the floor turned out good, just more work than it could have been. For a while I had comments disabled. Over 1000 comments, but really it was mostly different version of the same two negative comments over and over "you should have rented a sander", and "you should have hired a professional". Both of which are already addressed at the end of the video. You can see this floor again in my domino machine video: https://youtu.be/N1-wU9NgsV4?t=5m37s

Want stunningly attractive floors for a fraction of the price of hardwood or tile? Stain your own concrete! Staining concrete with dye or acid is a very labor-intensive project but very cheap and requires no special skills or knowledge (unlike laying tile or installing carpet). For under $450 we were able to stain 1000ish square feet of our main floor and got great results that will last for decades. (It should last for decades if you use a quality product, unlike Behr) ***DO NOT USE Behr Concrete Dye Kits like I did in this video. Use a professional product such as this one: http://amzn.to/2l8Jql7

http://www.completebasementsystems.net | 1-303-219-7646 Rod Martin, a basement waterproofing, crawl space, and foundation repair expert from Complete Basement Systems of Colorado answers the most frequently asked questions concerning the proper solutions for all types of problems in these areas. "Is there a kind of flooring that is suitable for the basement?" -- Sandy in Hygiene, CO When considering options for the basement floor, homeowners need to take into consideration the fact that there is a lot of water in the ground underneath the slab, especially during the rainy season. That water is consistently seeping through the slab and evaporating into the basement. When you cover your floors with carpet or with things like wooden laminates and wooden subfloors, these porous materials will soak up that water and create conditions for mold to grow. Mold is a foul smelling fungus and that is why so many basements have that characteristic musty basement smell. When you cover your basement floors with a poly sheet to act as a vapor barrier or use vinyl, you are preventing the slab from breathing and drying and water begins to build up underneath the cover, which can also lead to problems in the future. Complete Basement Systems of Colorado offers a product called ThermalDry flooring. These interlocking, floating floor tiles were specifically designed for basements. They are 100% waterproof and mold resistant. The finished surface in a ThermalDry floor tile is raised from the floor by pegs, which create enough space for the air to circulate under the tile and dry the slab, while preventing the moisture from evaporating into the basement. That air pocket under the tiles also serves as a thermal break, so the surface of a ThermalDry is usually 10 degrees warmer than the slab. One of the best features of ThermalDry is that the system is completely modular. You can remove and replace individual tiles without having to disturb surrounding ones. ThermalDry flooring comes in different colors and finishes including vinyl tile, carpet, and faux parquet. Complete Basement Systems proudly serves Boulder, Aurora, Denver and surrounding areas in CO. Too look at the many ThermalDry options or for a free, in-home design consultation and quote, call us or visit our website.
