Why We Are All Addicts

04:14
We tend to imagine that we can only become addicted to a few sorts of things. But real addiction is about using something, anything, to keep our real emotions, fears and hopes at bay. There are many more addicts among us than we think. Join our mailing list: http://bit.ly/2e0TQNJ FURTHER READING “We operate with some stock images of the addict: a person with a heroin needle in a park, or who nurses a bottle of gin in a paper bag at nine in the morning or who sneaks off at every opportunity to light up another cylinder of marijuana. However dramatic and tragic such cases of addiction might be, they are simultaneously hugely reassuring to most of us – because they locate the addict far from ordinary experience, somewhere off-stage, in the land of semi-criminality and outright breakdown…” You can read more on this and other subjects on our blog, here: https://goo.gl/q3yUyJ MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/z9ErhH Watch more films on SELF in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLself You can submit translations and transcripts on all of our videos here: https://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_panel?c=UC7IcJI8PUf5Z3zKxnZvTBog&tab=2 Find out how more here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623?hl=en-GB SOCIAL MEDIA Feel free to follow us at the links below: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theschooloflifelondon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheSchoolOfLife Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theschooloflifelondon/ CREDITS Produced in collaboration with: Yan Dan Wong http://yandanwong.com/ https://vimeo.com/yandanwong #TheSchoolOfLife

ommunicating with Someone Who Has an Addiction Article Source:www.verywell.com Abstract from original article :No-one automatically knows how to talk to an addict -- someone living with an addiction . Although people who have lived and worked with people with addictions may have discovered effective ways to communicate, it is always difficult, because of the confusion addiction creates in the person with the addiction. Article Summary : Find out about their addiction by reading about it on this website, and try to understand  the person with an addictions point of view. Let the person with the addiction know that you are willing to support them in changing, for example, by coming with them to family or couples counseling. someone with an addiction does not know how much their behavior bothers you, they have no reason to change. you should be absolutely clear and firm about what is unacceptable in an addicted persons behavior -- for example, underage drinking or using drugs in your house, you can be flexible in how they makes these important changes. a person with an addiction is more likely to confide in you about what is really going on for them if you listen without interrupting or criticizing.

How to Break Sugar Addiction: 7 Steps to Help You Stop Eating Sugar

05:44
To support our channel and level up your health, check out: Our Fast Weight Loss Course: http://thehealthnerds.com/the-science-of-fast-weight-loss-course Our Better Health Basics Course: http://thehealthnerds.com/food-health-happiness Hey, nerd family! In this video, we’re going to be talking about how to break sugar addiction and the 7 steps to help you stop eating sugar! At the end, we will also discuss honey, agave, and artificial sweeteners. Sugar is a substance extracted from plants like cane and sugar beet which is refined into a white crystalline substance. Since their effect on the blood stream, insulin, and brain are virtually the same, they are both considered sugar in the context of this video. http://www.health.harvard.edu/diseases-and-conditions/glycemic_index_and_glycemic_load_for_100_foods? Sugars are addictive because they cause a supernatural release of dopamine in the brain. http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0149763407000589 Dopamine is the primary neurotransmitter involved in addiction. In fact, multiple studies have now revealed that sugar and sweet rewards can not only substitute to addictive drugs, like cocaine but can even be more rewarding and attractive https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23719144 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2235907/ The brain chemistry of those addicted to drugs and those addicted to sugar are virtually identical. 7-Step Process to Breaking Sugar Addiction: #1. Realize what’s going on with your brain your body, sugar, and flour. People often stop consuming obvious sugar culprits like sodas and candy bars and trade them for bread and pasta. As previously discussed, those breads and pastas cause the same problems as sugar. #2. Understand levels of addiction Not everyone who drinks becomes an alcoholic. The same way not everyone who eats dessert becomes a sugar addict. We are individuals with different brain chemistry and the important thing is recognizing your own personal level of addiction. If just thinking about giving up sugar seems like a bleak, dark, and unhappy world, understand this is uniquely similar to how addicts feel about substances they abuse. You may be VERY addicted to sugar. #3. Detox You need to spend a period of time completely away from sugar and those dopamine spikes to break the addiction. This will often lead to an initial period of headaches, hormonal fluctuations, and just feeling like poop for a little while. The detox process can last from anywhere from 3 to 21 days. However, on the other side of breaking any addiction is a much healthier place. #4. Become a nutrition label ninja. Sugar is often hiding in places you don’t expect. Yogurt, pasta sauce, are protein bars often have TONS of added sugar You need to become a PRO a reading nutrition labels and feel free to check out my older video on the topic. #5. Balance blood sugar levels by eating balanced meals During the detox process, you need to focus on having balanced meals to keep your blood sugar levels steady to prevent crashes. You do this by eating meals that combine protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Whole egg omelets with lots of veggies, Chicken salads with olive oil dressing, and a grass fed beef stew are great examples of this. Protein, fiber, and healthy fat at every meal. #6. Heal you gut In an interesting study in Switzerland, men who were separated into two group based on chocolate cravings. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/12/AR2007101200019.html You do this by eating balanced meals as listed above, avoiding sugar and processed foods, and getting healthy probiotics into your diet. What about honey and agave nectar? Because of how the brain works the more you eat sugar, the more you crave. The more you stimulate supernatural sensations in the brain and taste buds, the more it’s going to want and need. While these sugars do have mild health benefits, if you are struggling with even a mild sugar addiction, you need to cut these things out. Sooooo what about artificial sweeteners like Stevia? While previous correlated evidence told us that artificial sweeteners caused additional sugar cravings and even cancer, better studies have shown us otherwise. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2892765/ Randomized double blind studies — aka the gold standard in scientific research — report that artificial sweeteners help us becomes less hungry, consume fewer calories, and don’t stimulate additional sugar consumption. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/24862170 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23364015 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12324283 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2008866 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22093544 The conclusion on the research as of now points to these sweeteners being ok in mild doses when trying to break a sugar addiction.

Overcome Any Addiction: Dopamine Receptor Repair & Addiction Healing (sound therapy)

08:15
Repairs dopamine receptors in the limbic system, using a faster healing field with nerve growth factor and also repairs the dopamine production areas. This also work with your subconscious to give you the inner strength and will power to overcome your addictions. Addiction creates an imbalance in your dopamine receptors. People tend to become addicted when they begin to depend on a substance or activity for pleasure (generated by release of dopamine). Over time, the brain adapts in a way that actually makes the sought-after substance or activity less pleasurable. In nature, rewards usually come only with time and effort. Addictive drugs and behaviors provide a shortcut, flooding the brain with dopamine and other neurotransmitters. As a result of these adaptations, dopamine has less impact on the brain’s reward center due to less production of dopamine and people have to take or do more of it to get the same dopamine "high" they got used to. And at this point, little to nothing other than what you are addicted to can generate dopamine for you. The fields in this audio work on repairing the imbalance created by addicted behaviors. Repairs dopamine receptors in the limbic system, using a faster healing field with nerve growth factor and also repairs the dopamine production areas. Over time, this will restore your dopamine levels and allow you to feel a good amount of pleasure again from any activity. This also helps tremendously with depression. The reward circuit in the brain includes areas involved with motivation and memory as well as with pleasure. Addictive substances and behaviors stimulate the same circuit—and then overload it. Overcoming an addiction is also very difficult because repeated exposure to an addictive substance or behavior causes nerve cells in the nucleus accumbens and the prefrontal cortex to communicate in a way that couples liking something with wanting it, in turn driving us to go after it. That is, this process motivates us to take action to seek out the source of pleasure. Over time, this takes almost complete control over our willpower... making it feel impossible to overcome addiction. The fields embedded in this audio works with your subconscious to give you the inner strength and will power to overcome your addictions. Addicts very much lack the strength and willpower to to overcome their addiction. Even if they want to change, their brain is already programmed to want their addictive substance/activity more. The fields in this audio grant you back strength and control of your willpower and with programming to push you to overcome your addiction. The fields in this audio work on fixing the physical (dopamine receptors) and spiritual (willpower/inner strength) to overcome addiction. Note: This video creates permanent changes by listening on a daily basis. It does not work when downloaded. You can listen with and without headphones. You can do other things while listening. For more in depth information, I suggest reading the FAQS page. http://enlightenedstates.com/index.php/faq/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sapienmed is about making permanent changes in your body, mind and spirit through the amazing power of morphic fields. Morphic fields organize the form, structure and patterns in systems such as those of organs and cells. Everything has a morphic field. For example, there is a morphic field resonating in your iris that keeps your eye color stabilized. The morphic fields that maintain your eye color can be tapped into and altered to make your eye color lighter. (For more information, read this article- http://enlightenedstates.com/index.php/2016/08/26/morphic-resonance-morphic-fields-collective-memory-the-habits-of-nature/) Essentially, a morphic field is a pattern of information that directs our bodies to behave in a certain way. What we do at SapienMedicine is create morphic fields that direct the body to behave in a way that create the changes you desire and embed them into frequencies. We have mastered the art of creating fields that change people at the cellular, spiritual and mental level and have transformed the lives of hundreds of people in miraculous ways. You don’t have to take my word for it. Read just a number of testimonials we have had over the years. http://enlightenedstates.com/index.php/testimonials/ The changes you can achieve with these audios are for real. You can make real transformation by just consistently listening to the audios every single day. We aim to reach as many people as possible and help them reach a permanent state of happiness. We’re addicted to plastic

Our health, the environment, wildlife, the food chain, tourism – all this is endangered by the overuse of plastic, particularly single-use items like straws and grocery bags. One study estimates there may be more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050. Lou explains the depth of the problem, why recycling isn’t always the best solution, and what’s being done to reverse course. Is Video Game Addiction Real?

06:10
As the video game Fortnite is taking over the world, there's a rising panic that some gamers are getting full-on addicted, with headlines like “Parenting the Fortnite Addict” and “I almost lost my sons to Fortnite” popping up all over the place. Even the World Health Organization is worried about video games -- just recently, it officially recognized “Gaming Disorder” as a mental health condition. But it’s not that simple. The American Psychiatric Association isn’t convinced, and says there’s not enough research showing that video game addiction is its own disorder. So what’s going on? Is video game addiction REALLY a thing? SUBSCRIBE to Above the Noise: [https://www.youtube.com/abovethenoise...] ABOVE THE NOISE is a show that cuts through the hype and investigates the research behind controversial and trending topics in the news. Hosted by Myles Bess and Shirin Ghaffary. *NEW VIDEOS EVERY OTHER WEDNESDAY* What is an addiction? There is no universal definition of addiction that everyone agrees on, but in general, addiction is when someone uses a substance or engages in a behavior repeatedly and compulsively, and continues to do so even if other areas of their life suffer. What does the research say about video game addiction? Whether you can be truly “addicted” to video games in the same way that you can be addicted to heroin or alcohol is up for debate -- the research is kind of all over the place. But, when researchers look at the brains of some people who have problems with gaming, the reward pathways activate in the same way as people addicted to drugs. So when I can’t put my controller down because I’m REALLY into a video game, does that mean I’m addicted? Games are meticulously designed to challenge and reward you at JUST the right moments to keep you playing. So when you can’t put down your controller, it COULD be that you’re just really motivated to keep playing. Which brings us to the concept of "Self Determination Theory" -- one of the most widely accepted theories to explain what motivates people. Basically, there are three key characteristics of motivation -- autonomy, mastery and purpose -- and video games like Fortnite offer all three in abundance. How to Study for a Long Time without Getting Bored

01:44
Watch more How to Study videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/413809-How-to-Study-for-a-Long-Time-without-Getting-Bored Facts and figures starting to blend together in a horrible haze? Here's how to keep from getting lost in brain space. Step 1: Eradicate distractions Enter a fortress of solitude -- research shows that low-level distractions can make a task feel boring. Hide your cellphone, tell your online social network to de-friend you instantly if they see you log in, and seal yourself in a quiet room. Tip If you're planning a really long cramming session, break it up with a nap. One study found an hour's worth of shut-eye can increase your ability to focus. Step 2: Embrace your emotions Emotional entanglement distracting you? Admit how you're feeling, even out loud -- those who can identify how they feel often have better focus. Step 3: Engage yourself Don't just take notes; engage with the material creatively. Invent a song about the topic at hand, or recreate historical events and fictional plotlines. It's easier to stay interested when you make the material come alive. Step 4: Take a shower Studied so long you've stopped absorbing material? Take a shower -- the change of pace will stimulate your mind and help refresh your body. Step 5: Make up a challenge Make a game out of your work to stave off boredom. Try to score higher and higher throughout your study session, and be sure to reward your triumphs. You've earned it! Did You Know? In 2009, a study found that nearly 50 percent of college freshmen that drink spent more time drinking than studying.

Why I (Almost Completely) Stopped Shopping

12:00
2019 will mark 10 years on YouTube for me and over those years, I’ve made A LOT of videos. Specifically, A LOT of hauls/shopping related videos. 2019 will also be the year I turn 30, something I view as a pretty significant personal milestone. As I’ve reflected on the past, I’ve been able to see how old habits no longer serve me and I’ve become more curious about the habits that do. This year, I decided to almost completely stop shopping. The older I get, the more I care about how my actions affect other people, the world and my own personal well-being. The fashion industry is wasteful (that’s no secret) and it also has a complex consumerist power over us that keeps us wanting more. I love beautiful things but I don’t want my life to be ruled by them. I want the things that I own to be reflections of myself, not the other way around. I want to present and express myself in a way that makes me feel like *me* without obsession or pressure. I want to dedicate my headspace to the work and people I care about. If you’re reading this, you are part of that group. I never, ever imagined that I would have a career that allows me to even think about these things, let alone pursue them and I know it’s a profound privilege. I started making videos because watching YouTube helped me survive some of the most painful years of my life. The Problem With Our Phones

05:33
They are hugely useful of course but in many ways, we buy the advantages our phones give us at a subtly high price we don’t entirely recognise. Some reflections on how to live well around phones. If you like our films, take a look at our shop (we ship worldwide): https://goo.gl/Rui7gG Join our mailing list: http://bit.ly/2e0TQNJ Or visit us in person at our London HQ https://goo.gl/PnyycF FURTHER READING “The dark truth is that it’s become very hard to find anyone (and certainly anything) more interesting than one’s smartphone. This perplexing and troubling realisation has for most of us had huge consequences for our love stories, family lives, work, leisure time and health. There is almost no relationship in which the presence of the phone has not had a profound impact. The genuine beauty and interest of our phones wouldn’t be a matter of such concern if we didn’t suspect, somewhere in our minds, that this machine has both opened some doors and is in danger of grievously closing others. This essay knows we love our phones and would never want us to give them up, but it is also gently aware that these delightful gadgets bear a hidden cost. This is a text that aims to bring a little sanity to our closest, most intense and possibly most danger-laden technological relationship…” You can read more on this and other subjects on our blog, here: https://goo.gl/PukLgZ MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/26PSur Watch more films on SELF in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLself You can submit translations and transcripts on all of our videos here: https://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_panel?c=UC7IcJI8PUf5Z3zKxnZvTBog&tab=2 Find out how more here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623?hl=en-GB SOCIAL MEDIA Feel free to follow us at the links below: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theschooloflifelondon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheSchoolOfLife Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theschooloflifelondon/ CREDITS Produced in collaboration with: Tom Kemp https://vimeo.com/user26596912 #TheSchoolOfLife

We are developing, improving, and improving in technology, in which any criminal activity of any society occurs, people's rights, freedom is increased, in this situation, people can not fully cope with society. पढाई से ध्यान हटने की सबसे बड़ी वजह जो आपको कोई YouTuber नहीं बताएगा | क्यों? Life Changing Analysis

10:23
In this video, I have the discussed the root cause of distraction from studies of students which no YouTuber will reveal. You will not find such content anywhere in YouTube. Thats guaranteed. Addiction usually refers to compulsive behavior that leads to negative effects. In most addictions, people feel compelled to do certain activities so often that they become a harmful habit, which then interferes with other important activities such as work or school. In that context, a social networking addict could be considered someone with a compulsion to use social media to excess -- constantly checking Facebook status updates or "stalking" people's profiles on Facebook, for example, for hours on end. But it's hard to tell when fondness for an activity becomes a dependency and crosses the line into a damaging habit or addiction. Does spending three hours a day on Twitter reading random tweets from strangers mean you're addicted to Twitter? How about five hours? You could argue you were just reading headline news or needed to stay current in your field for work, right? ------------ Tags Generated For YouTube motivational speech in hindi motivation speech for success in life motivational speech for success in life in hindi motivational speech in english motivation speech inspirational speech motivational hindi speaker motivational hindi video motivational hindi videos for success best motivational hindi video motivational speakers about life motivational speakers for success motivational speakers for success in hindi motivational speakers for business motivational speakers for college students motivational speakers for students motivational speakers for women motivational speakers for teenagers motivational speakers for youth motivational speakers for life motivational speakers for athletes motivational speakers in india motivational speakers in hindi indian motivational speakers indian motivational speakers in hindi top motivational speakers in india best motivational speakers in india motivational speakers on leadership motivational speakers on life motivational speakers of india motivational speakers on education best motivational speakers of all time motivational speakers on success motivational speakers in ted motivational speakers videos motivational hindi speaker motivational hindi video motivational hindi videos for success best motivational hindi video motivational speech for success in hindi motivational speech for students in hindi motivational speech for success for students motivational speech from movies motivational speech in hindi motivational speech ujjwal patni motivational speech love motivational speech life changing motivational speech life motivational speech long motivational speech short motivational speech must watch motivational speech movies motivational speech of great people motivational speech on confidence motivational speech on positive thinking motivational speech on relationship motivational speech sandeep maheshwari sandeep maheshwari motivation life changing seminar sandeep maheshwari ujjwal patni videos ujjwal patni latest ----------- Info Source: https://www.theguardian.com/science/head-quarters/2014/jul/01/facebook-cornell-study-emotional-contagion-ethics-breach http://www.computerworld.com/article/3014439/internet/social-media-addiction-is-a-bigger-problem-than-you-think.html https://nathandriskell.com/ https://www.lifewire.com/what-is-social-networking-addiction-2655246 --------- Social Page: Like the Facebook Page! - https://www.facebook.com/civilbeings ---------- Disclaimer- Some contents are used for educational purpose under fair use. You Will Wish You Watched This Before You Started Using Social Media | The Twisted Truth

This might be one of the most important videos I've edited in 2018. Prioritize addiction treatment in opioid fight

10:27
MaryBeth Cichocki, RN, BSN, is a Delaware anti-addiction advocate who lost her son Matt to an overdose. After reading the article on safe injection sites in the Sunday newspaper, I felt the need to comment. As a health care professional, I agree with the harm reduction component of these injection sites. Providing clean needles will cut down on the occurrence of hepatitis and other IV use infections. Also, having trained professionals on site to provide life saving support with Narcan will also cut down on the number of overdose deaths in our state. .My concern with these sites is how much of an impact they will have on getting the user into treatment. MORE ON THE OPIOID CRISIS: What heroin costs Delaware — in lives and money. In my opinion, recovery should be the ultimate goal for those suffering from substance Use Disorder. All these sites will be providing is a “safe” place to inject an illegal drug. Knowing you will not be harmed would not lead me on the road to recovery if I was addicted. It would allow me to continue to use in a comfortable environment. .Rather than spending thousands on a safe injection site, perhaps Delaware should recognize our lack of long-term treatment facilities in our state. Delaware cannot provide the safety net required when opening up a safe injection site. .Treatment must be available immediately to those asking for help. That window of time is critical in providing life-saving care. Those under the influence of opioids have a limited amount of time to be admitted into a treatment center before the horror of withdrawal begins. Fear is a large factor influencing the user when deciding if treatment will be accepted. We must act quickly before this fear derails the decision to go into treatment. If we provide safe injection sites, we must also provide immediate admission into a treatment bed. .As an addiction advocate in this state, I have struggled to find treatment beds for those who have suffered long enough. I can’t tell you the frustration I’ve encountered every time when I constantly heard “sorry, call back another time, we have no beds. ” This window of time cannot be delayed when the user is mentally ready to accept treatment. .There are major roadblocks in our treatment system. .First, not having a proper ID at the time of seeking help has kept many users from being admitted into a treatment facility. Even after begging for help, I was told “Sorry, we have rules. ” .It is my experience that IDs are taken after an overdose and held by the police officers. Without a proper ID, you are turned away when seeking treatment. I’ve also experienced those seeking help being turned away for not being “sick enough,” then told to go use and come back for possible admission. Upon returning they find no beds available. I’ve experienced those seeking help spending hours in a detox waiting area before being seen. Many decide to go back to the street rather than suffer from withdrawing without medical

Are Intelligent People More Lonely?

05:05
It sounds like a hugely arrogant and self-serving suggestion to imply that cleverness might lead you to loneliness. But if you define cleverness in a selective (and modest) way, there may truly be an aspect whereby it can lead to a certain isolation. It is important, therefore, to be clear what is meant here by intelligence. It has nothing to do with degrees or any of the criteria by which we ordinarily measure cleverness. What is meant is emotional intelligence, which exists (or not) in every strata and nook of society…” You can read more on this and other subjects on our blog, here: https://goo.gl/zrSj1X MORE SCHOOL OF LIFE Our website has classes, articles and products to help you think and grow: https://goo.gl/W1TZoj Watch more films on SELF in our playlist: http://bit.ly/TSOLself You can submit translations and transcripts on all of our videos here: https://www.youtube.com/timedtext_cs_panel?c=UC7IcJI8PUf5Z3zKxnZvTBog&tab=2 Find out how more here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6054623?hl=en-GB SOCIAL MEDIA Feel free to follow us at the links below: Download our App: https://goo.gl/UE9jVJ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theschooloflifelondon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheSchoolOfLife Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theschooloflifelondon/ CREDITS Produced in collaboration with: Luca Bowles http://www.lucabowles.com/ #TheSchoolOfLife
