Apple Wontons - Dalya Rubin - It's Raining Flour Episode 15

02:58
This is an awesome recipe! I came up with it a few weeks ago while experimenting with random ingredients I had in my house. I hope you enjoyed the video! Here’s the recipe: Apple (Fried) Wontons: Makes about 12-16 wontons 1 apple (chopped into tiny pieces, I used Granny Smith) 1 teaspoon cinnamon (**1/2 cup apple pie filling if you don't want to make the apple mixture**) 1 teaspoon sugar 12-16 wonton wrappers 3/4 cup sugar 2 Tablespoons cinnamon 3/4 to 1 cup of oil Heat up oil in a pan. Mix the chopped apple with the sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. ***Or just use apple pie filling instead*** Place a wonton wrapper onto your work surface and fill with about 1 to 1 1/2 teaspoons of the apple mixture or apple pie filling. Brush the edges of the wonton wrapper with water, then fold diagonally to create a triangle. Press down the sides the of the wonton with a fork on both sides. Lower the stove temperature a bit. Then place a few apple-filled wontons in at a time and cook on each side for about 1 to 1/2 minutes. Place the cooked wontons onto a rapper towel and pat them dry. Mix the cinnamon and sugar together. Place each wonton into the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat. Store in an airtight container on the counter for up to 2 day or in the fridge for 1 week. **I have attempted to bake these, but they didn’t turn out as crispy and delicious. But if you want, you can spray each side of the wonton and cook them on each side for a few minutes in the coven. Sorry, I don't have oven temperature or time for this :-( I hope you enjoyed this recipe! -Dalya Rubin

Best Ever Carrot Cake!! - Dalya Rubin - It's Raining Flour Episode 13

02:32
I am so excited to share this recipe with you all! It belongs to Ron Ben Israel, a cake extraordinaire, who makes the most gorgeous wedding cakes you can imagine. I love this recipe and use it as the base to so many layered cakes and desserts! Carrot Cake: 3 cups all-purpose flour http://amzn.to/1WzS0Sz 1 tablespoon baking powder http://amzn.to/1WzS3Od 2 teaspoons salt http://amzn.to/1KTRcQk 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda http://amzn.to/1GjjBy8 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon http://amzn.to/1KTQ9jc 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger http://amzn.to/1KTQdzz 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg http://amzn.to/1GjiWg0 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper http://amzn.to/1GjiYod 6 ounces chopped walnuts (about 2 1/4 cups) http://amzn.to/1Gjja72 1 cup raisins (optional) 3 cups sugar http://amzn.to/1GjjjHx 1 3/4 cups vegetable oil or canola oil http://amzn.to/1iN71BL 1 tablespoon vanilla extract http://amzn.to/1KTQ6nG 6 eggs 1 1/2 pounds carrots, shredded (about 6 cups) Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Grease 2 nine inch pans, 1 bunt cake + 12 standard sized cupcakes, about 40 standard size cupcakes, or about 40-60 mini cupcakes. In a bowl of an electric mixer combine sugar, eggs, oil, vanilla until combined. Then add in the shredded carrots and give the mixture a quick mix. In a separate, medium sized bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cayenne pepper in a bowl. Mix until no clumps remain. Then, add in the chopped walnut and raisins into the flour mixture and mix until combined. Add 1/3 of the flour mixture at a time into the wet ingredients and mix after each addition. **Scrape down the sides of the bowl and then mix again** Fill your pans with the batter. Bake the 9 inch or bunt cakes for about 40-60 minutes— time varies based on size. Bake the standard sized cupcakes for 10-15 minutes and mini cupcakes after 8-12 minutes. Let the cakes cool on a wire rack for at least 30-60 minutes or until room temperature. The carrot cake can be stored in a ziplock or airtight container on the counter for up to one week or freeze for up to 2 months. I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for watching! -Dalya R

Mini Pumpkin Pecan Pies - Dalya Rubin - It's Raining Flour Episode 18

02:34
Hi everyone! This is the first video to a three part Thanksgiving Baking series! Today I am sharing with you one of my favorite recipes (which I can eat, since it is Gluten Free, woohoo)! In this video I will teach you how to make mini, gluten free Pumpkin Pecan Pies! They are a delicious treat and combine two of my favorite desserts; pumpkin pie and pecan pie! Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE to my channel if you have not already for new videos every week!I hope you enjoy this video and let me know if you make these mini Pumpkin Pecan Pies! Pumpkin Pie Layer Ingredients: 15 oz can pumpkin puree 1/2 cup sugar 1/4 cup brown sugar 2 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 3/4 cup almond milk (I used Unsweetened Original, but you can also use Original) 2/3 cup Gluten Free All Purpose Flour (I recommend Bob’s Red Mill 1 to 1 All Purpose Baking Flour, but you can also use a regular All Purpose Flour if you are not gluten free) 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice (or you can use 1 teaspoon cinnamon + 1/2 teaspoon ginger) 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon baking soda Pecan Pie Layer Ingredients: 3 eggs 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup maple syrup 1/3 cup coconut oil 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup pecan pieces (chopped) Directions: To make the pumpkin pie layer, combine all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until combined. To make the pecan pie layer, combine all ingredients in a bowl and whisk until combined. To assemble, spray all the muffin tips with nonstick cooking/baking spray. Fill each muffin cavity half way with the pumpkin pie filling. Tap the cupcake pan on the counter so that the pumpkin filling smoothes out and so that the pecan pie doesn't fall to the bottom of the pan. Then top the pumpkin layer with the pecan pie filling until it reaches the top of the muffin cavity. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25-30 min. This makes about 13-15 muffins. Thanksgiving food is my favorite! Let me know what your favorite thanksgiving dessert is. I hope you enjoyed this video! -Dalya Rubin

Vegan Rugelach - Dalya Rubin - It's Raining Flour Episode 10

03:18
Learn how to make these super delicous vegan rugelach! They are perfect for Rosh Hashana or any other occasion! Enjoy! Ingredients: 3 sticks margarine 5 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 8 oz non dairy whipped topping (I recommend Rich’s whip cream), or heavy cream 3 1/2-4 1/2 cups flour (begin with 3 1/2 cups, you may need to add some more depending on the texture of your dough) Filling Option 1: Apricot jam + 3/4 cup sugar + 2 tablespoons cinnamon Filling Option 2: Raspberry Jam Directions: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl of an electric mixer (or using a bowl and a hand held mixer), combine the margarine and sugar. Mix on medium-low speed until combined. Then, add in the whip topping to the margarine mixture and mix on medium-low speed again. Slowly add one cup of flour in on low speed until combined. Repeat this step for the rest of the three and a half cups of flour. *Only add the last cup of flour if your dough is still sticky. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap or cover the bowl and place it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. Remove the dough from the bowl and knead. Roll out the dough and cut into a rectangle. Cut large triangles down your dough. Variation #1: To make cinnamon rugelach, spread a thin layer of apricot jam over the dough triangles. Then spoon on the cinnamon-sugar. Roll up the dough. Variation #2: To make the raspberry jam rugelach, spread jam over the dough and then roll up. Bake both variations for 25-30 minutes. Store in an airtight container on the counter for up to 1 1/2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months. Thanks for watching! -Dalya

Non-Dairy Caramel Sauce - Dalya Rubin - It's Raining Flour Episode 17

02:19
I hope you loved the video! The full recipe and instructions are here: Non Dairy Caramel Sauce 2 cans coconut milk cream 3/4 cup coconut sugar 2 tablespoons honey Refrigerate coconut milk cans overnight! Open the cans from the bottom and strain out the liquid (which can be saved to drink or add to smoothies). Spoon the coconut cream into a pot and add in the coconut sugar and honey. Place the pot over medium-high heat and stir until all the ingredients are dissolved. Then up the heat to high and bring to a boil. Boil for 15 minutes stirring every two minutes. Remove the pot from the stove and pour the caramel mixture into a bowl. Set the bowl on the counter until the caramel has cooled. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight before serving. You can also keep this in the fridge for up to a week before serving. Helpful tips: Do not leave caramel sauce out (for dipping or pouring) before serving. Keep refrigerated or else it will become super thick and more like a dip (which you may love or hate). Do not microwave the caramel sauce to make it thinner because the ingredients will separate and oil will appear! If this happens, do not worry. Too fix this, let your caramel sit on the counter for 20 minutes and then whisk quickly until the caramel comes back together. I hope you enjoyed this recipe and video. Thanks again for watching! - Dalya

Leave the ganache on your kitchen counter for 5-6 hours, stirring occasionally, until it becomes thick like a frosting. **You can also leave the bowl on ganache on your counter overnight and ice your cake in the morning. Figurines: To make the figurines, follow the instructions given by the video. Assembling the cake: Level your cakes. Then, scoop about 2-3 heaping tablespoons of the ganache onto the first layer of cake. Repeat this step by stacking your cakes and layering them with ganache in between. **I find it helpful to refrigerate my cake in between frosting each layer so that the frosting doesn't ooze out when decorating. This is not always necessary though because it depends on the temperature of your house.** Next, ice the cake in ganache. *I like to work from the top-center of the cake and then ice the sides of the cake. Once the cake is iced, cover the rim of the top of the cake is fall themed sprinkles. Option A: a. If you plan to serve the cake right away, you can add the figurines to the cake and serve as is. Option B: If you plan on serving the cake in 2 days, you can place your cake in a cake holder and leave on the counter. Once you are ready to serve, add the figurines. Option C: If you plan on serving your cake within 3-5 days, refrigerate it and then defrost for 2-3 hours before serving. Once you are ready to serve, add the figurines. Option D: If your house is super hot and/or humid, do not follow option B or else your icing may melt. It would be safest to follow option A or C. Tips: This cake recipe is also be made gluten free using Bob's Red Mill 1 to 1 Gluten Free Flour! The reason why I didn't include this as an option in the recipe is because I have never tried layering it and do not know if it would fall apart when stacked because it becomes a super moist cake when made gluten free. Let me know if you make this recipe! -Dalya Rubin

Rainbow Layer Cake - Dalya Rubin - It's Raining Flour Episode 64

06:02
This cake is probably one the most awesome-colorful cakes I have ever made. This cake is layered with the best Vanilla Cake, and filled with red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple American Buttercream icing. If you are not a fan of American Buttercream icing, feel free use use your favorite icing such as Italian Meringue Buttercream, Swiss Meringue Buttercream, or any other. Please DON'T BE INTIMIDATED by this cake. It is fairly simple as long as you PREP THE CAKE BASES AND ICING COLORS IN ADVANCE. If you are in poor shape like me, your arms and hands might "kill" while tediously piping the buttercream dots, but as you see, it is so worth it! Ultimate Thanksgiving Dessert Table! - Dalya Rubin - It's Raining Flour Episode 20

06:16
I have been working on this video for weeks, and am so excited that it is finally up! #PrayForParis Thanksgiving Dessert Table Video Link to Pumpkin Cake: https://youtu.be/i4AGHLV-Pfo Link to Mini Pumpkin Pecan Pies (Gluten Free): https://youtu.be/7f3vSbVHiLs Link to Non-Dairy Caramel Sauce: https://youtu.be/xcb5rtEfnCA Sweet Treat #1: Sugared Pecans (makes about 1 1/2 cups) 1 egg white 1 teaspoon water 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 lb pecan halves 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 tbsp cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon salt Preheat oven to 250 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside. Place sugar, cinnamon and salt in a 1 gallon plastic bag, zip the bag, and shake it. In a medium bowl, whisk together egg white, water and vanilla. Add the pecans to egg white mixture and mix to coat. Pour the pecan-sugar mixture into ziplock, zip it up, and shake the ziplock to coat the pecans. Pour the pecans onto the cookie sheet and spread out. Bake for 1 hour, mixing it every 20 minutes to evenly cook the pecans. Store in a ziplock or airtight container on the counter for 3 weeks. Sweet Treat #2: Pumpkin Cream Parfaits Pumpkin Cake recipe here https://youtu.be/i4AGHLV-Pfo Cream filling recipe here https://youtu.be/tnNGbe7W_dw Layer pumpkin cake and cream filling in glasses. Store in the refrigerator. Remove the parfaits at least 1 hour before serving to come to room temperature so the cream isn't too stiff. Sweet Treat #3: Apple Nachos 2 large Granny Smith 2 Mackintosh apples 1 lemon 1/2 cup caramel (I use my non dairy caramel, but you can also use store bought) 1/2 cup white candy melts or nondairy white chocolate 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips 1/3 cup heath bits (dairy), non dairy toffee bits, or other dairy/nondairy candy bar of your choice Cut apples into slices and sprinkle with lemon juice to prevent apples from browning. Place apples in desired plate/dish and arrange them nicely. Drizzle melted caramel and melted white chocolate. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and candy bar bits. Preferable, place the plate into the fridge right away. Cover and store in refrigerator for 2 days. DIY Craft #1: Mason Jar Candle Holders What You’ll Need: Mason Jar Leaves (real or not real) Hot Glue Modge Podge Paint Brush Raffia Candle Instructions: Glue down each leaf with hot glue. Then, paint the modge podge all over and around the leaves. Let the jar dry overnight. Tie rafia around the top of the jar. Place the candle inside and light it when your ready to begin your meal. DIY Craft #2: Thanksgiving Thankful Tree What You’ll Need: Tall, skinny Vase branches (I bought fake branches at Michaels, but you can totally try real ones) Pine cones (I bought sparkly one), other festive objects Tags with string attached (sold at Craft store) Sharpie/marker Place cones and festive objects into half the vase. Then add in the branches and position as you want. The finish filling the vase with the pinecones and objects. Place a stack of tags on the counter right next to the tree centerpiece with the marker so each guest can write something they are thankful for and put it on the tree. DIY Dessert Table: I used an orange runner from the craft store I got a piece of wood to display the mini pecan pumpkin pies on. I placed each pie in a “caramel apple holder” from Michael’s Craft Store so that the oil from the pies wouldn't ruin the wood since there was no finish. I bought a super cheap, $3 black board from Target to write “Happy Thanksgiving”. I made the Apple Nachos on a charger plate as a platter (the charger cost around $3.25) I used a garland of leaves and “berries” for the background. I hope you enjoyed this video, and let me know if you make any desserts from it! Ttyl, Dalya
