It is equipped with a hoist capable of lifting 9500 pounds with a 45 foot reach. It carries 500 gallons of diesel for fueling units in the field. It has a large screw air compressor and is equipped with a 250 gallon water tank so it is ideal for pressure washing equipment.

It includes a very functional drainage system along with a pit that is 42 inches wide and 16 feet long. The shop measures 120 feet long by 60 feet wide. It has plenty of doors to accommodate all sizes of vehicles and equipment. It also has a 18 foot by 50 foot long mezzanine which includes living quarters for seasonal workers and a coffee room. There of course are several other features highlighted in the video.

Location: Dauphin, Manitoba, Canada Features: If you use fire wood, the log splitter built by Jerry Inkster makes splitting logs for fire wood extremely easy. Inkster built his hydraulically powered splitter to handle big logs and do the job in one pass. The blade is made out of grader blade. He has found the shear blade shatters the end of the wood so well that it dries green wood twice a fast allowing him to burn it within 2 or 3 weeks of splitting it. He cuts up about 20 cords of wood each year to heat his house and shop plus sell some locally.

This berry crop has more than double the anti-oxidants of blueberries. It appears to be a very hardy crop and does well in the western Canadian prairie climate. View an entire harvest sequence of this unique crop. Most of the Haskap production is being shipped to Japan with some to the United States.

Here we take a look at his Massey Ferguson 98, Cockshutt 1900, and Cockshutt 1950. In the late 1950's Massey Ferguson didn't have a high horsepower tractor. They reached out to Oliver for a solution and used their Oliver 990's modified with a Massey Ferguson body, creating the Massey Ferguson 98 Diesel. After Oliver purchased Cockshutt in the early 1960's, they dropped the 371 Detroit Diesel and replaced it with the 4 cylinder, 452 Detroit which was used in the Cockshutt 1900 and 1950 tractors.

His massive, high capacity grain cleaner is mounted on a 57 foot semi trailer and is powered with a 250 KW generator. The unit can clean between 700 and 1000 bushels of grain per hour. It is capable of cleaning fusarium diseased kernels out of crops like Durum wheat. The cost for materials to build the unit came to around 1 million dollars.

At the time of our visit in 2011, Mobil Grain operated trans-loading facilities on two short line railways in Saskatchewan. By using the rail car as storage the identity of where the grain came from is preserved. The trans-loading facilities allows the firm to load a rail car in less than 10 minutes so it is easy to fill shipments for buyers wanting identity preserved 50 to 100 rail car allotments.

The 80 year old Chorney while being raised on the farm ended up being the town's 'go to' guy when it came to appliance repairs. Most of his tractors have been collected from retiring farmers in his district. Seven of his units have been restored to 'like new' condition. He is especially proud of his John Deere "A" and "B" restoration projects.

The tractor essentially was 'ahead of its time' as there were no 300 horsepower 4 wheel drives around. Only about 300 units were ever built and sold as farmers in the early 60's just weren't ready for that kind of horsepower on most farms. At the time of our visit. Jensen said he was only aware of 3 such units in Canada.

Restored 1913 Grain Elevator

According to organizer, Doug Carrick they had to move the elevator about 100 miles from its original location at Mawer, Saskatchewan. They then got the elevator functioning as like it used to, including the 10 horsepower Fairbanks Morse single piston engine that was used to drive the elevator leg. The museum and its volunteers sunk about $100k into the restoration project.

After becoming an electrician and operating her own electrical contracting business fora few years she yearned for a more fulfilling career. After doing a fair amount of research and traveling, she found her passion by establishing a urban farming operation in the city of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada home to about 35,000 people. She calls her operation “Green Sister Gardens” as all her produce is organically grown. Keri shows viewers how she acquires backyard space on residential lots to grow her produce from April through to October. Tour various sized lots and see Keri planting, tilling and harvesting crops and see how she packages her products for sale to both the local restaurant trade and people at large. Keeping with her'green' theme Keri uses pedal power to pull at modified little trailer as she travels to her garden lots. Aside from crop sharing some of her production with the property owners she also sells fresh produce at the local farmers market. You can also meet Kirby Froese one of the many people who provides Keri with a backyard in exchange for fresh produce. Keri says she is able to make a modest living doing what she loves and the same time giving city dwellers and local chefs a chance to get a taste of fresh, nutritional, locally produced food.

Flexxifinger Corn Harvest Pans

The Flexxifinger Corn Pan is a lifter attachment that fits onto a conventional combine grain header. It then allows the farmer to easily combine corn with that same header without having to invest in a conventional corn header. Each pan measures 9 inches wide and about 32 inches long and is spaced 3 to 6 inches apart to nicely divide the corn stocks as they feed into the header.

The Saskatchewan farmer also uses the furnace to heat two homes in his yard as well. He uses his own flax straw bales that he loads into the furnace with his front end loader. At the time of our visit in 2011 the total cost of the system was around $15,000 and the farmer estimated it saves him at least $5,000 per year in heating and grain drying costs.

Carrick says the unit was in such a mess when it bought it, the previous owner wasn't even sure what the unit was was. Powered by a 4 horsepower Wisconsin engine the units top speed is 3 miles per hour. At the time of our visit in 2012, Carrick just had the disc attachment for doing garden work.

It has a wooden sliding gate which is pushed along as the cattle clean up the feed. He feeds about 60 cows each winter and has a custom grinder fill the feeder. It is large enough it only requires to be filled twice each winter. It takes about a day for the grinder to fill the feeder. He estimates the feeder only allows for about 5% waste. It cost him about $3,000 to build and he is able to reuse most components of it every feeding season.

Hydraulic Seed Bag Lift - E-ZEE Loader

So, he built what he calls the E-ZEE Loader system. It is similar to a front end tractor loader only he attaches it to the side of the air seeder cart. He can now easily hydraulically lift up to 550 pounds of product from ground level to the top of the air cart. At the time of our visit in 2012 he was selling the units for around $5,500.

Full-Bin Sensor & Hopper Dropper

The sensor sets off an alarm and light to let farmers know when the grain bin is getting closed to full. The unit gives the farmer plenty of warning to shut the flow of grain down to avoid plugging the auger or spilling any grain. It can be easily installed on any type of grain auger. At the time of our visit it was selling for $699. Brownlee has also built the Hopper Dropper, which allows farmers to open hopper bottom bin chutes wide open without spilling any grain. The unit attaches to the bottom of the bin with 80 pound magnets and sells for around $249.00.

The farmers chose a 2005 Peterbilt to put a salvaged 3800 gallon water tank on. That combined with the 1200 gallon tank on a trailer gives them around 5,000 gallons which is enough for 4 fills on their SP sprayer. The trailer also acts as a transporter for their large SP sprayer as well. The set up to them about 2 weeks to build with a total investment in materials of about $55,000.

The focal point of the resort is their 90 by 70 foot and 14 foot deep pond. The huge pond which also have a shallow end for kids has a 30 Mil poly liner in it. Jerry keeps the water clean by adding chlorine and the water is constantly rotated with a pumping system.

One of his horse drawn vehicles is a Chore Sled. It is equipped with a winch for working with round bales. Since he works daily with horses, he understands what it takes to make a harness product from a practical standpoint. All of his harness making equipment is manually operated. In fact, he runs a leather creasing machine that was originally patented in 1867. He has tried electric machines and tools, but prefers manual equipment because it is more precise. He makes harness materials for sale and also repairs all types of harnesses.
